Mariano Nicieza began writing for Marvel Comics in 1993 working on various short stories in anthology titles. In 1995, he penned a story in the Malibu Comics DS9 "Ultimate Annual", paving the way for his work on five issues of the Star Trek line when it moved back to Marvel in 1997.
