Abstract
Abstract The invention pertains to floor cleaning machines in which the fresh water and product dosing operation is controlled as a function of the operation of the driving motor such that the dosing per unit of floor area is maintained at an operator-controllable level.
Improved economy of water, product and energy is achieved.
Improved economy of water, product and energy is achieved.
Claims (14)
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A floor-cleaning machine which comprises a motor-driven movable body (1) carrying one or more motor-driven rotatable brushes (22, 23), reservoirs (7, 8) for storing fresh and spent cleaning liquid, a means for dosing fresh cleaning liquid onto the floor and a squeegee/vacuum pick-up system (4, 19, 20) for re-covering spent liquid from the floor, the means for dosing fresh cleaning liquid comprising a dosing pump (25, 26), the operation of which is controlled as a function of the operation of the body driving motor (36), such that the dosage of cleaning liquid per unit of floor area is automatically maintained at a set level, which is operator-controllable.
2. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1, which further comprises a reservoir (29) for storing detergent product and a pump (31) for dosing said product, the operation of which is controoled as a function of the operation of the body driving motor (36) and/or the motor (27) of the cleaning liquid dosing pump, the coupling being such that the dosage of detergent product per unit of floor area is automatically maintained at a set level, which is operator-controllable.
3. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1 or 2, which comprises a vacuum pump (19), the operation of which is controlled as a function of the pressure within the pick-up system, as monitored by a pressure sensor (21), such that the air-flow through the vacuum pump (19) is automatically maintained at a set level, which is operator-controllable.
4. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1, wherein the reservoirs (7, 8) for storing fresh and spent cleaning liquid have a partitioning wall con-sisting of a flexible membrane (9).
5. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1, wherein the pump motor (27) and driving motor (36) are connected via an electronic device (39) capable of controlling the operating speed of the pump motor (27) as a function of the speed of driving motor (36).
6. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 5, wherein the pump motor (27) is shut off during stand-still and reverse speed of driving motor (36).
7. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1, wherein the number of pumping cycles by the cleaning liquid dosing pumps (25, 26) is monitored by an electronic controlling device (39) capable of calcu-lating the liquid consumption on the basis thereof.
8. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 2, wherein the number of pumping cycles by the detergent product dosing pump (31) is monitored by an electronic controlling device (39) capable of calculating the detergent product consumption on the basis thereof.
9. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1 or 2, wherein low and high level sensors (16, 17, 18, 40) are incorporated in the liquid reservoirs (7, 8, 29).
10. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 3, wherein the vacuum pump motor (20) and the pressure sensor (21) are connected via an electronic device (39) capable of monitoring the pressure sensor and con-trolling the operation of the vacuum pump motor (20) as a function thereof.
11. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 3, wherein the vacuum pump (19) is capable of operating in reverse as a force pump.
12. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 11, wherein the draining operation of the spent liquid reservoir (8) is established by reverse operation of the vacuum pump (19).
13. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 1, wherein the pump motor or pump motors (20, 27) is or are electronically controlled by way of impulse width modulation.
14. A floor-cleaning machine according to claim 13, wherein the electronic control combines impulse width modulation for the higher speeds and impulse sequence intermission for the lower speeds.
