Abstract
La présente invention concerne un borate de terre rare, un précurseur de celui-ci, leurs procédés de préparation et l'utilisation de ce borate comme luminophore. Le borate de terre rare et son précurseur sont caractérisés en ce qu'ils se présentent sous forme de particules cubiques, parallèlépipèdiques ou sphériques et en ce qu'ils présentent un indice de dispersion d'au plus 0,8. Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, le borate est un luminophore rouge. Le procédé de préparation du précurseur est caractérisé en ce qu'on fait réagir un carbonate ou un hydroxycarbonate de terre rare avec de l'acide borique, le milieu réactionnel se présentant sous forme d'une solution aqueuse. On obtient le borate en calcinant le précurseur.
