Abstract

A wireless remote control transmitter (11) for controlling home entertainment devices. An L-shaped (PCB) printed circuit board (27) having a front portion (27-1) and a right side portion (27-2) is disposed within a rectangular housing (13). The PCB includes a first LED (31) adapted to transmit an infrared light beam through a window (32) in the top end (19) of the housing, a second LED
(35) adapted to transmit an infrared light beam through a window (36) in the right side (23) of the housing, electronics (19) and a printed circuit coupling the LED's to the electronics. The keys of a first keyboard (41), accessible from the front (15) of the housing, cause the first LED (31) to emit coded signals when operated. The keys of a second keyboard (43), accessible from the right side (23) of the housing and corresponding to functions of the remotely controlled device that are most often controlled by the users, cause the second LED (35) to emit coded signals when operated.
