Abstract
A system (200 in fig. 2) and method for providing user-selected information to paging device (100 in fig.1). An enhanced paging system (200) responsive to information sources (210) and a selection device (220) transmits information to the paging device (100). The enhanced paging system (200) including a storage device (240), a selecting device (250), a storing device (260) and a transmitter (270). Such a system (200) providing user-selected information to the paging device (100) allowing the user (not shown) to control what information will be sent and when the information will be sent. Intelligent-agent software can automatically search for and store information that would be of interest to the user and can alert the user that more detailed information is available. The intelligent-agent software can also send critical information to the user without user request.
