Abstract
A stent holding member which is used in a stent feeding system for transferring a stent to be embedded in a living body to a desired holding position in a vas, the stent holding member having a cylindrical holder form ed of elastic material. The holder is provided with a groove for holding a wire or wires of which the stent of cylindrical construction is constituted, the wire being inserted in the groove to hold the stent. The groove for holding the wire of the stent of cylindrical construction will have its open-end sid e expanded by radial expansion of the holder. The expansion of the open-end si de of the groove causes the stent held in the groove to be diametrically expand ed and released from the holder.
Claims (25)
1. A stent holding member used in a stent delivery system adapted to introduce a scent of a cylindrical configuration, designed to be implanted in a living body, to a desired site of implantation in a vessel thereof, comprising:
a tubular holding member formed of an elastic material;
said holder having a groove in its outer peripheral portion for holding one or more supporting struts making up said stent, each of said struts being embedded at least partially in said groove to hold the stent.

2. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said groove has its opening end side expanded by expansion of said holder along the radial direction.
3. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said stent is held on an outer peripheral portion of said holder by embedding said struts in said groove.
4. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said holder is formed of one or more selected from the group consisting of elastic synthetic resins, natural resins and silicone resins.
5. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said holder is formed of silicone resins exhibiting tackiness.
6. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said holder is formed by layering two or more tubular members having different values of modulus of elasticity.
7. The stent holding member according to claim 6 wherein the outer tubular member of said holder is formed of a silicone resin.
8. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said stent is a self expandable stent contracted under an external pressure and dilated on releasing said external pressure.
9. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said stent is of a balloon expandable type.
10. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein the strut constituting said stent is a fiber of a biodegradable polymer and wherein said fiber is formed as a tubular member.
11. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein an anti-thrombotic agent is deposited on the surface of said holder.
12. The stent holding member according to claim 1 wherein said stent is retained by said holder and can be mounted on an optional balloon catheter.
13. A stent delivery system adapted to introduce a stent of a cylindrical configuration designed to be implanted in a living body, to a desired site of implantation in a vessel thereof, comprising:
a catheter inserted into a vessel of a living body;
a balloon provided to the distal end of saids catheter and expamded by a fluid supplied into the inside of said catheter; and a stent holding member provided to said catheter for covering said balloon;
said holder having a groove in its outer peripheral portion for holding one or more supporting struts making up said stent, each of said struts being embedded at least partially in said groove to hold the stent.
a catheter inserted into a vessel of a living body;
a balloon provided to the distal end of saids catheter and expamded by a fluid supplied into the inside of said catheter; and a stent holding member provided to said catheter for covering said balloon;
said holder having a groove in its outer peripheral portion for holding one or more supporting struts making up said stent, each of said struts being embedded at least partially in said groove to hold the stent.
14. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said stent retained by said stent holding member is released from said stent holding member and dilated by expansion of said holder along the radial direction brought about by expansion of said balloon.
15. The stent delivery system according to claim 14 wherein said groove provided in said holder has its open end expanded by expansion of said holder along the radial direction.
16. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said stent is a self expandable stent contracted under an external pressure and dilated on releasing the external pressure.
17. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said stent is of a balloon expandable type.
18. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said stent is held by the outer periphery of said holder by embedding said struts in said groove.
19. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said holder is formed of one or more selected from the group consisting of elastic synthetic resins, natural resins and silicone resins.
20. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said holder is formed of a silicone resin exhibiting tackiness.
21. The scent delivery system according to claim 14 wherein said holder is formed by layering two or more tubular members having different values of modulus of elasticity.
22. The stent delivery system according to claim 21 wherein the outer tubular member of said holder is formed of a silicone resin.
23. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein the strut constituting said stent is a fiber of a biodegradable polymer and wherein said fiber is formed as a tubular member.
24. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein said stent holding member is mounted to said catheter, covering said baloon by having both ends bonded to said catheter.
25. The stent delivery system according to claim 13 wherein an anti-thrombotic agent is deposited on the surface of said holder.
