Abstract

本发明涉及用于传送电力的连接器。
背景技术
随着包括在单个连接器外壳内的多功能合并的改进,以及采用用于电力传输生成的有效散热的特性,在电源连接器领域中已经有显著的进展。例如,Clark et al.,在美国专利No.6,319,075中公开了包括在单个绝缘外壳内的电源和信号触点的电连接器,从而消除了需要两个单独的连接器。与“单块(single-mass)”设计的触点,诸如,例如具有圆形或针形横截面的那些触点相比,在“075”中公开的优选的电源触点采用提供用于散热的更大表面积的“双块(dual-mass)”原理。
与上述类似的电连接器可进一步包括AC电源电缆端口(cableport)和用于与外部电源直接连接的AC电源触点。这种连接器的例子可从FCI Electronics,Inc.购买获得FCI的PWRBLADE商标连接器系列,包括由AC电源触点、DC电源触点、信号触点和屏蔽(shrouded)AC电缆端口组成的插座连接器。每个电源触点包括在其间具有空间的两个接触壁以便于散热。由本申请的受让人拥有的并且通常与配电连接器有关的两个专利申请,美国专利申请1998年9月25日提交的No.09/160,900和2001年8月31日提交的09/944,266均是美国专利商标局的未决申请,在此引入,以供参考。
尽管对现有技术有贡献,但申请人的共同未决“266”专利中的AC电源触点和AC电缆端口在连接器外壳的后面部分延伸并终止。连接连接器的有用电路板空间受这一连接器结构所累,因为必须为与AC电源触点啮合的AC电缆插头提供空间和接入。由于电路板和AC电缆端口及相应的AC电源电缆插头间极接近,这一结构还增加了漏电的可能性。因此,有对现有技术进行改进的空间。
发明内容
本发明涉及具有用于传送电力的触点的电连接器。
根据本发明,提供了一种电源连接器,包括:绝缘外壳,包括面向电路板部分和其中包括多个孔的配合面;位于所述绝缘外壳中的多个DC电源触点;位于所述绝缘外壳中的多个信号触点;以及位于所述绝缘外壳中的多个AC电源触点,每个AC电源触点包括通过多个孔的一个接入的啮合部分,用于与互补触点啮合,以及从所述啮合部分延伸并在离面向电路板部分最远的位置从所述绝缘外壳突出的接头,以便与AC电缆插头啮合。
根据本发明的优选实施例,现在已经提出了包括绝缘外壳和位于绝缘外壳中的多个AC电源触点的电源连接器。绝缘外壳包括面向电路板部分和其中包括多个孔的配合面。每个AC电源触点包括通过多个孔的一个接入的啮合部分,用于与互补触点啮合,以及从啮合部分延伸并在离面向电路板部分最远的位置,从绝缘外壳突出的接头,以便与AC电缆插头啮合。
根据本发明的另一优选实施例,提供了电源连接器,包括绝缘外壳、位于绝缘外壳内的DC电源触点、以及位于绝缘外壳中的AC电源触点。绝缘外壳包括其中具有多个孔的配合面。DC电源触点包括通过多个孔的一个接入并构造成用于与来自配合连接器的触点啮合的啮合部分,以及至少一个从啮合部分延伸、用于连接到电路板的端子。AC电源触点包括通过多个孔的另一个接入并构造成用于与来自配合连接器的触点啮合的啮合部分,以及从啮合部分延伸、用于与AC电缆插头啮合的接头。至少一个端子和接头在相反方向延伸。
根据本发明的另一优选实施例,提供电源连接器,包括绝缘外壳、位于外壳中的多个AC电源触点,以及屏蔽AC电缆端口。绝缘外壳包括顶部、底部和在顶部与底部间延伸的配合面。配合面包括多个孔,用于容纳来自配合连接器的触点。每个AC电源触点包括由通过多个孔的一个接入的两个分开的壁组成的啮合部分和仅从两个分开的壁的一个延伸的接头。屏蔽AC电缆端口从绝缘外壳的顶部延伸,包含AC电源触点接头并构造成用于容纳AC电缆插头。

具体实施方式
通过下述优选实施例和附图的详细描述,相信能更好地理解本发明,其中相同的标记表示相同的特征。参考图1和2,所示的电源连接器10包括具有用于容纳互补电连接器(未示出)的配合面20的绝缘外壳12。配合面20包含提供接入位于绝缘外壳12中的电触点的多个孔。例如,孔30提供接入信号触点40的啮合部分,孔31提供接入DC电源触点50(图5中示出)的啮合部分,以及孔32提供接入AC电源触点60(图3A-3C中详细地示出)的啮合部分。尽管在此的所有图中各个孔的数量和配置相同,但附加权利要求书中包含的连接器可以具有多个孔以及以不同结构排列的相应的电触点。
配合面20横跨绝缘外壳12的顶部21和相对的面向电路板部分22。屏蔽AC电缆端口70从顶部21延伸,并示出在此容纳外部电源、AC电缆插头71。从图2可以看出,AC电缆端口70包括与各个AC电源触点60有关的接头65,并具有当AC电缆插头71脱离接头65时(即,当从连接器去除外部电源时),有助于将AC电源触点60的位置保留在绝缘外壳12中的可选的锁条72。
屏蔽AC电缆端口70从顶部21延伸以便AC电源触点的接头65能在离面向电路板部分22最远的位置从绝缘外壳12突出。这一结构有助于消除电路板的外部AC电源的机械和电气干扰。如果接头65和AC电缆端口70从绝缘外壳12的其他部分延伸,诸如后面部分(未示出),那么由于由啮合的AC电缆插头71占用的物理空间和用于啮合和脱离相对大的插头所需的另外的空间,连累有用的电路板空间。而且,电干扰或漏电的可能性增加,外部AC电源越接近连接器10所连接的电路板。
提供了适合于用在如上所述的连接器结构中的多种示例性的AC电源触点设计。现在参考图3A-3C,示出了两个优选的AC电源触点实施例。AC电源触点60a和60b的每一个包括由一个或多个桥接构件63所连的两个分开的接触壁61和62。接触壁61和62限定通过位于配合面20上的相应的孔32所接入的啮合部分64。与配合电连接器(未示出)相关的触点进入孔32并与接触壁61和62啮合。采用两个接触壁能增加电源连接器10的电气完整性。同时,两个接触壁61、62与允许接触壁61、62之间的气流的中间空间66结合增加了消除由电力传输生成的热的能力和速率。两个优选的AC电源触点实施例的区别在于在AC电源触点60a中,接触壁61和62在它们的底部边缘67连接,而在AC电源触点60b中,接触壁61和62在它们的后缘68连接。
每个AC电源触点60a和60b进一步包括从用于啮合AC电缆插头71的单个接触壁61向上延伸的接头65。通过仅采用单个接头65,能实现缩减制造成本。通过采用单个接头65,也能避免质量问题,因为完全消除了“配合”两个接头,一个接头为正确与AC电缆插头啮合,从每个分开的接触壁61和62延伸的需要。然而,由本发明期望的AC电源触点可以包括从两个接触壁延伸的接头。
现在参考图4,示出了装入连接器10的三个示例性的AC电源触点60a。绝缘外壳12的一部分23位于每个AC电源触点下以便限定连接器10和连接器所连的电路板(未示出)间的间隙以便最小化漏电。
图5中示出了优选的DC电源触点50,包括限定由两个桥接构件53所连的啮合部分54的两个分开的接触壁51和52。还预期沿接触壁51、52的主要或次要部分延伸的单个的桥接构件。这一DC电源触点结构提供与结合优选AC电源触点实施例所述的那些相同的优点。为连接电路板,多个端子55从接触壁51和52向下延伸。因此,通过位于外壳12中的电源触点50和60,端子55在与接头65相反的方向中延伸。或换句话说,与DC电源触点50有关的端子55从外壳12的面向电路板的部分22突出,以及与AC电源触点60有关的接头65从外壳12的顶部21突出。
AC和DC电源触点60和50的接触壁和/或桥接构件分别包含凹槽或其他阴元件,和/或凸起或其他阳元件,用于将电源触点保留在外壳12中。冲压优选的电源触点或者由适合的材料诸如磷青铜合金或铍铜合金形成为单片。信号触点40(如图1中所示,位于外壳12中)最好是包括用于与电路板连接的引线部分的“针型”触点,并由适当的材料诸如例如铜合金制成。可以用金或金和镍的组合电镀电源和信号触点。
最好由玻璃填充的高温尼龙或本领域的技术人员已知的其他材料浇铸或形成外壳12或屏蔽AC电缆端口70。AC电缆端口70可以与外壳12整体铸成,或者,可以单独地制造,然后与外壳12连接。

Claims (10)
1.一种电源连接器,包括:
绝缘外壳,包括面向电路板部分和其中包括多个孔的配合面;
位于所述绝缘外壳中的多个DC电源触点;
位于所述绝缘外壳中的多个信号触点;以及
位于所述绝缘外壳中的多个AC电源触点,每个AC电源触点包括通过多个孔的一个接入的啮合部分,用于与互补触点啮合,以及从所述啮合部分延伸并在离面向电路板部分最远的位置从所述绝缘外壳突出的接头,以便与AC电缆插头啮合。
2.如权利要求1所述的连接器,其中每个所述AC电源触点包括两个分开的壁。
3.如权利要求2所述的连接器,其中所述接头仅从所述两个分开的壁的一个延伸。
4.如权利要求2所述的连接器,其中所述两个分开的壁通过桥接构件连接。
5.如权利要求4所述的连接器,其中所述桥接构件连接所述两个分开的壁的底部边缘。
6.如权利要求4所述的连接器,其中所述桥接构件连接所述两个分开的壁的后缘。
7.如权利要求1所述的连接器,其中所述多个DC电源触点的每一个包括两个分开的壁以及从两个分开的壁的至少一个延伸、用于连接到电路板的端子。
8.如权利要求1所述的连接器,进一步包括用于屏蔽所述AC电源触点接头和用于容纳AC电缆插头的屏蔽端口。
9.如权利要求1所述的连接器,其中所述多个DC电源触点位于所述绝缘外壳中并包括通过所述多个孔的一个接入并构造成用于与来自配合连接器的触点啮合的啮合部分,以及至少一个从所述啮合部分延伸用于连接到电路板的端子。
10.如权利要求1所述的连接器,其中所述绝缘外壳的一部分位于所述多个AC电源触点之下以防止所述电源连接器和连接到所述电源连接器的电路板之间漏电。
