发明领域和背景
本发明涉及具有内在抗微生物或抗静电性能的聚合物。这种聚合物可以和多种基材(例如织物、金属、纤维素材料、塑料等)一起应用或使用,向基材提供抗微生物和/或抗静电性能。另外,该聚合物也可以与其它聚合物(例如本发明的聚合物可以用作添加剂)结合,向这种其它聚合物提供抗微生物和/或抗静电性能。
已知在环境中存在各种细菌、真菌、病毒、藻类和其它微生物,并且其潜在地不利地影响着正在与它们接触的人。由于疾病、气味以及破坏多种材料和基材的原因,这种微生物通常是不希望有的。为了抗击这种微生物,已经提出了抗微生物剂。但是,仍然需要这种试剂是持久的并且相容的,并且能在多种聚合物材料和基材上使用以及能与多种聚合物材料和基材一起使用。

该组合物优选包括约0.5到约75%的能够提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体,基于单体总重量计,该量取决于该聚合物组合物所选择的应用。
该组合物还包括引入该阳离子带电聚合物组合物以空间稳定该组合物的组分。合适的组分包括,但不限于,如以下阐明的单体、聚合物及其混合物。对本发明来说,关于单体的使用的术语“引入”可以解释为表示单体连接到阳离子聚合物的主链。“引入”组合物的聚合物可以解释为表示其被吸附或接枝到组合物表面上,其实例可以是聚乙烯醇。该稳定组分可以包括非离子单体或聚合物,其向组合物颗粒引入空间稳定作用,而不会不利地影响聚合物组合物。可以用作空间稳定剂的示范性单体包括,但不限于,那些含有烷氧基化(例如乙氧基化或丙氧基化)官能团的单体。这种单体的实例包括那些由下式描述的单体:

也可以使用基于表面活性剂的丙烯酸酯、甲基丙烯酸酯、乙烯基和烯丙基品种的可聚合表面活性剂。其实例为由德国Düsseldorf的Henkel销售的TREM LF-40。这些表面活性剂具有可以将表面活性剂引入聚合物组合物的烯属不饱和键。类似于其它表面活性剂,这些材料具有疏水性和亲水性的不同的官能团。特别适用于本发明的表面活性剂为非离子型表面活性剂,其中亲水性特性被认为可归因于存在环氧烷基团(例如环氧乙烷、环氧丙烷、环氧丁烷等)。也可以使用环氧乙烷和/或环氧丙烷的嵌段共聚物,例如来自BASF的Pluronic或Tetronic系列,特别是应用在抗静电用途中。亲水程度可以根据官能团的选择而不同。

用于稳定组合物的空间稳定作用组分以基于单体总重量的约0.5到约75%的量存在。
本发明的组合物也可以包括自由基引发剂,其选择是本领域已知的。优选使用当分解时产生阳离子物质以及有助于组合物的阳离子电荷的自由基引发剂。这种引发剂的实例为2,2′-偶氮双(2-脒基丙烷)二氢氯化物,以Wako V-50商购自Richmond,Virginia的WakoChemicals公司。
本发明的组合物也可以包括其它添加剂,以改善聚合物的物理和/或机械性能,其选择是本领域技术人员已知的。这些添加剂包括加工助剂和性能助剂,例如但不限于交联剂、天然和合成粘结剂、增塑剂、软化剂、泡沫抑制剂、发泡助剂、阻燃剂、分散剂、pH-调节组分、多价螯合剂或螯合剂以及其它组分。在优选的实施方案中,可以使用0.1到1.0wt%的非离子表面活性剂。另外,该组合物优选没有常规不可聚合阳离子和阴离子表面活性剂。
该组合物可以使用本领域技术人员已知的技术施涂于基材作为涂层或薄膜,所述技术例如喷涂、辊涂、刷涂、浸涂、浸渍、施胶压榨等。
本发明的组合物可以与包括其它聚合物的基础聚合物共混。合适的聚合物包括各种热塑性和热固性聚合物,包括但不限于聚氨酯,酚醛树脂,聚酯,聚烯烃,聚酰胺,聚碳酸酯,聚醚,聚醚酰胺和聚醚酰亚胺,聚有机硅烷,聚砜,聚异戊二烯,聚氯丁二烯,丙烯酸系树酯,苯乙烯-丁二烯,苯乙烯-丙烯腈,ABS,EVA,聚四氟乙烯,聚醚酯,聚环氧化物,杂环聚合物例如聚吡咯、聚苯胺、聚噻吩及其衍生物等以及基于乳胶的材料。在另一个实施方案中,阳离子带电聚合物可以与另一种具有抗微生物或抗静电性能的聚合物如其它阳离子聚合物共混。
可以制备该共混物原位形成互穿聚合物网络(IPN)。可以制备核壳胶乳或复合材料,其具有一种或多种这些上述组分作为核,在核上可以通过乳液或悬浮法进行随后的聚合。其另一个实例将是从基础原料开始,通过随后是自由基法的悬浮或分散/微乳液法制备聚合物,例如聚氨酯。如此,可以将缩合和自由基法组合在一起。其目标是制备各种杂化物聚合物。另一种化学强化可以从使用控制的自由基聚合法产生,所述控制的自由基聚合法例如RAFT、ATRP和SFRP(用硝基氧),然后其将提供将具有各种结构如嵌段、接枝、星形、高度支化和树枝形的聚合物。这样可以控制聚合物的形态、活性和单一性,并能够使其形成特制的满足特定功能的分子。
通过添加表面活性剂和起泡剂,该组合物可以以开孔或闭孔泡沫塑料的形式使用。该泡沫塑料可以以多种方式使用,以便向各种制品赋予抗微生物和/或抗静电性能。例如,泡沫塑料可用于向制品提供消音性能和抗微生物/抗静电性能,象地毯的泡沫塑料垫底层。泡沫塑料本身可以用作制品,例如枕头或床垫的泡沫塑料。泡沫塑料可以用作尿布中的吸收剂,由此吸收尿同时提供抗微生物保护。
也可以使用本发明组合物制备其中包括阴离子聚合物的两性或两性离子聚合物。
抗微生物和/或抗静电剂可以用作添加剂以增强本发明组合物的内在抗微生物或抗静电性能。潜在的抗微生物单体为十一碳烯酸或醇,或者十一碳烯酸或醇与具有烯属不饱和键的含羟基或酸的材料生成酯的反应产物。酸官能单体的实例为丙烯酸或马来酸酐。羟基官能单体的实例为甲基丙烯酸羟乙酯或甲基丙烯酸聚乙二醇酯。已知十一碳烯酸提供抗真菌性能,并且其还可以潜在地提供在扩展化学性能方面的优点,特别是如果与阳离子和酚型中间体结合时。
也可以将脱乙酰壳多糖,改性脱乙酰壳多糖或脱乙酰壳多糖盐引入该组合物。脱乙酰壳多糖是一种已知为抗微生物的天然氨基官能糖类。此外,脱乙酰壳多糖也可以起双重作用,它还提供空间稳定作用。

关于提供抗静电组合物,也可以使用烷基胺或乙氧化胺与马来酸酐的反应产物。其可以形成可与其它单体共聚合的具有乙氧基化物或烷基链的马来酰亚胺型单体。环氧烷大单体与其它单体,例如苯乙烯磺酸酯、丙烯酰氨基丙烷磺酸(AMPS)、羧酸(例如丙烯酸或甲基丙烯酸衍生物)的共聚物是潜在的抗静电添加剂。其它抗静电解决方案在Weipert等人的USP 4,029,694和USP 4,093,676,Login的USP4,098,842,Gaggar等人的4,857,590和Sasaki等人的USP 4,859,727中提出,全部引入其公开内容作为参考。
阳离子带电聚合物组合物也可以以固态形式用作添加剂加入特定基材中然后进行加工。在使用固体的情况下,其将在加工阶段过程中加入基础聚合物中,例如在挤塑或注塑之前以颗粒加入聚碳酸酯或SAN中。在这种情况下,本发明的组合物将变为与表面上的局部涂层相对的制品整体部分。固态形式聚合物可以通过喷雾干燥分散体/乳液制成或者通过由悬浮聚合以固体形式直接制备。
可以设想多种可将本发明的组合物在加工纤维的同时直接引入其中的方法。一种方法是在熔融纺丝/挤出纤维过程中进行。添加剂可以在加工阶段过程中直接加入用于纤维制造的聚合物中,例如聚烯烃、聚酯、丙烯酸系等,或者,可以在加入到制造纤维的聚合物之前,与聚合物和其它组分预配混成母料,并彻底混合。这样,该组合物在加入到制造纤维的聚合物之前被彻底混合。这样,该组合物将被直接挤出或成为纤维的一部分并赋予其抗微生物或抗静电性能。这种方法将适用于可以熔纺的任何聚合物,并且该添加剂可以用来向纤维赋予除了设计的规定性能之外的相容性、亲水性、柔软性等。然后这些纤维可以用于许多应用,其中的一些已在上文概括。也可以考虑纤维的溶液纺丝,在这样情况下,将添加剂溶于纤维纺丝溶液并且随后经由喷丝板挤出。
将从固体添加剂法受益的另一个领域为塑料和橡胶制品。此外,可以设想,在例如挤塑、注塑等的加工步骤过程中直接以粉末或颗粒添加组合物聚合物(其将用作热塑性添加剂),或者,可以在实际加工之前在相容性聚合物如EVA和EMA中使用挤出机进行造粒,并在后加工步骤过程中使用挤塑机、注塑机、吹塑等以特定量加入任何热塑性聚合物中。热塑性聚合物的典型塑料加工步骤将适合于这些固体添加剂。同样,该添加剂可以与其它成分如颜料、流动助剂、润滑剂等,以及所需聚合物混合在一起,制备所谓母料。这些母料通常在高剪切混合设备如班伯里密炼机中制备,并且该混合物将随后在挤出机中造粒。该母料然后将由塑料制品或薄膜制造商使用常规塑料加工设备加工。以上方法的任一种或全部可用于将添加剂送入母体聚合物,提供所需抗微生物和/或抗静电性能。再次,应用将与以上列出的应用相似。干燥聚合物也可以加入热固性聚合物如酚醛塑料、环氧树脂等中,并使用例如压塑等技术进行加工,橡胶的添加剂加工技术类似于使用班伯里密炼机制备胶料,然后例如通过开炼机制成片材或压压成管子、管道、软管等。

或不饱和聚酯制成的人造或合成大理石表面区域。聚合物添加剂可以配混进这些树脂,然后被铸塑或固化引入基质。这样将永久地将添加剂引入基质而不是局部涂布。相同的是关于在用于船只等的凝胶涂层和铸塑树脂中的这些添加剂应用,向表面提供所述性能。如果使用不饱和聚酯树脂,优选的是将添加剂溶解在苯乙烯中。
关于固体的另一个实例将是在热熔粘合剂组合物中使用这些作为添加剂以形成具有所述特征的粘合剂。该聚合物将必须具有所需的相容性以及提供足够流动性的分子量。
在纤维素材料的情况下,可以预计在由木材制造的复合材料中使用固体材料,其中粒状、造成的球状或粉状的木材可以与其它组分配混,然后用例如压塑的技术模塑成形。热固性树脂如UF、MF、环氧树脂和聚氨酯树脂用于粘接木材,和聚合物组合物可以与这些物料一起在加工阶段添加。例如盖板和建筑材料以及OSB板的应用可以考虑使用该方法。
在制造高压层合材料或装饰层合材料以及模塑制品中可以考虑在纸中使用固体材料。此外,固体材料可以与纸浆纤维和填料结合并被压模以制造成品。包装材料,例如纸板、箱子等也可以得益于本发明的实施。
干燥形式的阳离子带电聚合物组合物可以与水泥/混凝土结合,并固化形成具有所需附加性能的混凝土结构。水泥沙浆、密封剂、腻子等也将适合使用粉末。其还可以与其它填料等结合,制造具有抗微生物-抗静电性能的花岗岩柜台面、地板等。水泥中的可再分散性粉末将具有其它用途以及用于装饰用混凝土。

潜在应用

Plus培养物,并使其在每种测试涂层的十五个试片上干燥。以同样方式接种涂有阴性对照涂料的十五个试片。一小时、四小时以及24小时之后,使用Rodac板(含有吐温(Tween)和卵磷脂的TSA)测定各个表面类型的回收。在各个抽样时间下,将Rodac板接触各个表面类型的五个试片并在30-35℃培养48小时-5天。计数并平均各个表面类型的CFU。将测试表面结果与阴性对照表面结果相比较。回收<70%表明该材料是抗微生物的。结果在表1-4中提供。

实施例1、2和4的组合物被涂布到纸上。通过测量物体接地时电荷衰减到其值的10%的持续时间测定平均电荷衰减时间。操作中,使用直流电压操作将物体充电,并在接地之后测定电压降。通过在其表面上放置两个电极并对一个电极施加固定电压测定表面电阻率。测定穿过表面到达另一个电极的电流。然后可以根据电流和外加电压计算电阻。结果在表5中提供。

Claims (29)

1.一种基材,在其上施涂了涂层或薄膜以提供抗微生物和/或抗静电性能,所述涂层或薄膜由阳离子带电聚合物组合物形成,该聚合物组合物包括20到99wt%的非阳离子烯键式不饱和单体、0.5到75wt%的能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体、0.5到75wt%的引入到阳离子带电聚合物组合物中的空间稳定作用组分、以及抗微生物剂,其中空间稳定作用组分为可聚合表面活性剂、具有烷氧基化官能团的单体或保护胶体,抗微生物剂为十一碳烯酸、醇、或十一碳烯酸与具有烯属不饱和键的含羟基或酸的材料的反应产物。
2.一种基材,在其上施涂了涂层或薄膜以提供抗微生物和/或抗静电性能,所述涂层或薄膜由阳离子带电聚合物组合物形成,该聚合物组合物由20到99wt%的非阳离子烯键式不饱和单体、0.5到75wt%的能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体、0.5到75wt%的空间稳定作用单体、以及0到1.0wt%的非离子表面活性剂组成,其中阳离子带电聚合物组合物没有阳离子和阴离子表面活性剂。
3.根据权利要求2的基材,其中基材选自非织造织物和织造织物;有机和无机颗粒,纤维及附聚物;泡沫塑料;薄膜,纤维素材料;混凝土,砖石;玻璃;金属;以及塑料。
4.根据权利要求2的基材,其中非阳离子烯键式不饱和单体选自乙烯基芳族单体、烯烃、脂肪族共轭二烯单体、非芳香族不饱和单羧酸酯或二羧酸酯单体、基于不饱和二羧酸单体的半酯的单体、不饱和单羧酸或二羧酸单体及其衍生物、含氮单体、含磷单体、含硫单体、和乙烯基酯单体。
5.根据权利要求2的基材,其中能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体包括胺或酰胺单体。
6.根据权利要求2的基材,其中能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体包括季铵化胺单体。
7.根据权利要求2的基材,其中能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体包括能够向聚合物组合物提供疏水性的季化合物衍生物,该季化合物衍生物是包含季铵盐的烯键式不饱和单体,所述季铵盐包括一种或多种具有二到二十个碳的烷基。
8.根据权利要求2的基材,其中该空间稳定作用组分为具有烷氧基化官能团的单体或为保护胶体。
9.根据权利要求8的基材,其中具有烷氧基化官能团的单体选自
(a)CH2=C(R)COO(CH2CHR′O)nR″,其中R=H、C1-C4烷基;并且R′=H、C1-C4烷基,和R″=H、C1-C12烷基,以及n=1-30;
(b)CH2=C(R)COO(CH2CH2O)n(CH2CHR′O)mR″,其中R=H、C1-C4烷基,并且R′=H、C1-C4烷基,和R″=H、C1-C12烷基,n和m各自为1-15;和
(c)CH2=C(R)COO(CH2CHR′O)n(CH2CH2O)mR″,其中R=H、C1-C4烷基,并且R′=H、C1-C4烷基和R″=H、C1-C12烷基,n和m=1-15,以及
(d)(a)和(b)的混合物。
10.根据权利要求2的基材,其中空间稳定作用组分为可聚合表面活性剂。
11.根据权利要求2的基材,其中聚合物组合物进一步包括抗微生物剂或抗静电剂。
12.根据权利要求11的基材,其中抗微生物剂为基于脱乙酰壳多糖的材料。
13.根据权利要求11的基材,其中抗微生物剂为选自银和锌,以及其盐和氧化物的金属杀生物剂。
14.根据权利要求11的基材,其中抗静电剂选自氮化合物、脂肪酸酯及其衍生物、多元醇及其衍生物、磷酸衍生物、金属盐和氧化物、金属、炭黑、碳纳米管以及半导体。
15.根据权利要求11的基材,其中抗微生物剂为十一碳烯酸或醇,或十一碳烯酸与具有烯属不饱和键的含羟基或酸的材料的反应产物。
16.一种具有抗微生物和/或抗静电性能的聚合物材料,所述聚合物材料包括与阳离子带电聚合物组合物共混的基础聚合物,该聚合物组合物由20到99wt%的非阳离子烯键式不饱和单体、0.5到75wt%的能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体、0.5到75wt%的空间稳定作用单体、以及0到1.0wt%的非离子表面活性剂组成,其中阳离子带电聚合物组合物没有阳离子和阴离子表面活性剂,其中空间稳定作用组分为可聚合表面活性剂、具有烷氧基化官能团的单体或保护胶体。
17.根据权利要求16的聚合物材料,其中非阳离子烯键式不饱和单体选自乙烯基芳族单体;烯烃;脂肪族共轭二烯单体;非芳香族不饱和单羧酸酯或二羧酸酯单体;基于不饱和二羧酸单体的半酯的单体、不饱和单羧酸或二羧酸单体及其衍生物、含氮单体、含磷单体、含硫单体、和乙烯基酯单体。
18.根据权利要求16的聚合物材料,其中能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体包括胺或酰胺单体。
19.根据权利要求16的聚合物材料,其中能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体包括季铵化胺单体。
20.根据权利要求16的聚合物材料,其中能够向聚合物组合物提供阳离子电荷的烯键式不饱和单体包括能够向聚合物组合物提供疏水性的季化合物衍生物,该季化合物衍生物是包含季铵盐的烯键式不饱和单体,所述季铵盐包括一种或多种具有二到二十个碳的烷基。
21.根据权利要求16的聚合物材料,其中具有烷氧基化官能团的单体选自(a)CH2=C(R)COO(CH2CHR′O)nR″,其中R=H、C1-C4烷基;并且R′=H、C1-C4烷基,和R″=H、C1-C12烷基,以及n=1-30;(b)CH2=C(R)COO(CH2CH2O)n(CH2CHR′O)mR″,其中R=H、C1-C4烷基,并且R′=H、C1-C4烷基,和R″=H、C1-C12烷基,n和m各自为1-15;(c)CH2=C(R)COO(CH2CHR′O)n(CH2CH2O)mR″,其中R=H、C1-C4烷基,并且R′=H、C1-C4烷基和R″=H、C1-C12烷基,n和m=1-15,以及(d)(a)和(b)的混合物。

25.根据权利要求22的聚合物材料,其中抗静电剂选自氮化合物、脂肪酸酯及其衍生物、多元醇及其衍生物、磷酸衍生物、金属盐和氧化物、金属、炭黑、碳纳米管以及半导体。
26.根据权利要求22的聚合物材料,其中抗微生物剂为十一碳烯酸或醇,或十一碳烯酸与具有烯属不饱和键的含羟基或酸的材料的反应产物。
27.根据权利要求22的聚合物材料,其中所述基础聚合物选自聚氨酯、酚醛树脂、聚酯、聚烯烃、聚酰胺、聚碳酸酯、聚醚、聚醚酰胺、聚醚酰亚胺、聚有机硅烷、聚砜、聚异戊二烯、聚氯丁二烯、丙烯酸系树脂、苯乙烯-丁二烯、苯乙烯-丙烯腈、ABS、EVA、聚四氟乙烯、聚醚酯以及聚环氧化合物。
28.根据权利要求22的聚合物材料,其中聚合物材料为固体。
29.根据权利要求22的聚合物材料,其中聚合物材料为泡沫塑料。
