背景技术
在远程服务器上可用的信息内容的发展一方面伴随着内容来源和格式的多样化,另一方面伴随着允许访问该内容的终端的多样化。
便携式设备必须服从成本和负担上的大量约束。现今,便携式设备是在互联网上可用的新内容的优选目标。
仅最高级的产品才符合这些约束(存储器、自主性、比特率)并能够呈现具有满意质量的可用内容。
现今的便携式设备已逐渐发展为能够呈现高级信息显示的显示器外围设备(阵列屏幕、多线路、黑白或彩色)。
然而,便携式设备仍然极大地受到它们的硬件资源的限制,并且必须符合大的成本约束。
通过序列号为US 6 920 488(IBM)的美国专利申请,现有技术知晓了一种由服务器协助用于通过个人数字助理(PDA)访问网页的系统。PDA通过无线互联网网关和便携式服务器与互联网进行通信,所述便携式服务器能够访问诸如服务器之类的互联网资源。所述便携式服务器包括数据库,所述数据库至少包括允许检索由用户选择的网页域的标识信息,所述便携式服务器还包括用于访问所选网页域的处理装置。PDA包括:用于浏览所选网页域并且用于检索所选网页域中至少一个的浏览装置;以及用于显示所检索的网页域的显示装置。
发明内容
显示远程内容需要必须符合以下约束的设备,所述约束是:
-相当大的易失性存储器(具有高速缓存功能),能够显示高级信息,
-网络连通性,具有能够传送该信息的高带宽
-高级供电系统,保证足够的自主性以用于其操作。
本发明建议在向用户保证最佳呈现和用户友好性的同时尽可能减少这些约束。
本发明的目的之一是优化可利用的技术解决方案,并给诸如DECT手机之类的低成本设备提供与高端手机上可获得的服务质量相当的服务质量。
本发明设法解决的技术问题在于:在保证降低硬件资源消耗(存储器、无线电链路的使用以及能量消耗)的同时,改善在便携式通信设备上对信息的显示。
为此,本发明在其最普遍接受的意义上涉及一种配备有屏幕和随机存取存储器的便携式通信设备,所述便携式通信设备包括:

通过根据内容用例模型、在两个级别(待用(standby)、活动(active))上管理显示模型来完成的内容集合体接入点(PA)的联合实施方式实现了高级显示功能的添加以及对来自远程服务器的内容的浏览。此外,为了保证可能的最大的自主性,本发明在优化以便最大程度地使用随机存取存储器(成本高的组件)以及无线电链路的同时,可以充分利用具有极其不同呈现的显示模型。本发明从而可以获得与高端“更轻的”便携式设备的服务等级相近的服务等级。
根据第一个变体,显示模型是只读存储器或数据闪存中永久嵌入在便携式设备中的一组图形和文本元素。
根据第二个变体,显示模型是在便携式设备的随机存取存储器中动态加载并存储的一组图形和文本元素。该显示模型与动态内容相关联,所述动态内容是指该显示模型的描述性元素,由从格式化后的流中提取的元素构成。便携式设备的屏幕上的呈现是动态内容和法则与相应显示模型的元素的关联。

具体实施方式
便携式设备EP通过无线通信装置连接到接入点PA,所述接入点可经由网络连接与远程服务器进行通信。
根据本发明,在使所使用的存储器、能量消耗以及在用户请求时对更详细内容的显示最小化的同时,可以在待用屏幕上进行动态信息的通知、显示和刷新。
为了在尽可能减小硬件资源的消耗(存储器、无线电链路的使用、能量消耗)的同时优化为用户呈现信息,本发明是基于使用便携式设备中的一组显示模型的。这些显示模型还允许在不需要与接入点PA进行会话的情况下对可获得的不同信息的顺序显示系统进行组织。最后,这些显示模型实现了尽可能将EP终端与PA接入点之间交换的业务量减少到“有用”信息。
PA接入点的作用是从远程服务器获得信息内容、检测与先前获得的更新、提取必要的数据且仅提取这些数据用于构造构成显示模型的元素。
如图1所示,系统的一般构造由以下元素组成:
-便携式设备EP,经由无线电链路连接到下述接入点PA,
-接入点PA,其自身经由网络连接(例如用于本地网络的以太网或用于互联网的ADSL)连接到下述远程内容服务器,
-一组SDn远程内容服务器。
当终端为GSM手机时,可以由集成了DECT基站的家用网关且由网络服务器来实现PA接入点的功能。问题仍然存在。所以没有作出关于所述PA接入点的位置的假设。
在传统的方法中,根据高级协议(XML、WML、HTML等)的数据的显示需要使用较大的随机存取存储器以便在EP终端上存储信息以用于显示,或需要在每次必须进行屏幕刷新时(在使有效地存储于EP终端的易失性存储器中的数据最小化的情况下)使用的数据链路。这两种选择都成本较高,第一种选择成本高是由于大型存储器所增加的成本,第二种选择成本高是在能量消耗方面以及由此在移动使用时的终端自主性方面。
本发明建议的可替换方法使上述强调的两个问题的矛盾得以克服。所述两个问题即,使电消耗最小化以及使对EP终端的随机存取存储器的需求最小化。
该功能通过与显示模型的安装相关联地、在与EP终端相关联的PA接入点中引入“代理(proxy)”功能以及在相同的PA中引入用于有用数据的提取模块来实现,以重新建立对EP终端上可用信息的“高级”格式化。
根据PA所解释的不同协议(XML、RSS、WML、HTML等)来传送由SDn远程服务器分发的内容,以提取对于显示模型元素的构成而言必要的有用信息。
EP终端在其自身的层面不了解充当从SDn远程服务器到PA接入点的内容路由支持的协议。按照由一系列关联的内容显示模型描述性元素所构成的单独且惟一的协议,在PA与EP之间进行传送。
如图2所示,EP便携式终端包括以下元件和功能:
-一组输入/输出外部设备:显示器、键盘、扬声器,
-处理器(未示出)
-非易失性存储器,包含用于保证设备操作的代码和软件数据,
-易失性存储器(RAM),包含随时间“可变的”数据,
-无线数据链路(可以在使用电话的情况下充当语音支持),
-蓄电池块,保证对设备供电。
EP终端的两种操作状态可区分如下:
-待用:通过MAV待用模式中的显示模型来自动地且连续地显示内容。由于该方法,终端虽然处于待用模式,但仍在没有涉及能量消耗的无线电活动的情况下继续显示从网络获得的内容。
-活动:用户请求关于特定内容的更多信息。通过MAA活动模式来显示模型来显示新的内容。
例如:

两种状态“待用”和“活动”基于显示模型与两种通信实施方式相对应。两种状态将信息分成两部分,所述两部分对应于必须存储于EP中用于在待用屏幕上显示的信息以及仅在用户请求时发送到EP的信息。显示模型的该附加级别实现了对存储器管理和终端消耗的更高级别的优化(无线电链路的使用率低)。
显示模型是一组文本和图形元素,其中一些元素永久嵌入在EP(只读存储器、数据闪存)中,而另一些动态加载并存储在EP的随机存取存储器中。
例如,传送气象数据的RSS流可以包含以下信息:日期、温度、湿度、描述、天气代码、天气预报、表示当前和未来天气条件的图像。
PA仅提取“天气”显示模型所需要的信息,并将所述信息发送到EP。所以EP仅存储EP所需要的信息(例如温度、湿度和代码)。
显示模型(包含在ROM或闪存中)可以通过将信息从PA引入到存在于其非易失性存储器中的图形元素,以更高级的方式来对内容进行重新格式化。
所以,天气数据的显示可由不同的文本元素(温度、湿度)以及与代码元素相关联的象形图构成。
用户可通过PA中的配置页面或EP中的配置菜单(根据可用的显示模型)来自定义流的源头。
接入点下载根据一个协议或若干个协议而传送的一组未格式化的流FB。所述接入点然后提取对于关联的显示模型的描述性元素的构成而言有用的信息,并将相应的浓缩信息发送到EP的MAV(待用模式显示模型)。所述接入点本地地存储MAA(活动模式的显示模型)的描述性元素并仅在用户请求时将其发送到终端。
MAV构成元素从而永久保存在EP的随机存取存储器中,直到下一个流刷新,而MAA构成元素仅在给定内容(由用户定义)的显示时间内被存储。
每个FB(来自远程服务器的未格式化的流)可以具有相关联的显示模型。
每个显示模型可用于多个FB。
图3示出了根据本发明的以包含气象数据的RSS流作为示例的显示方法。
接入点根据例如XML/RSS协议来接收有用数据。该未格式化的流FB包含没有被MAV显示模型使用的多个信息元素(日期、时间、描述等),这将显著增加手机中的随机存取存储器的占用率以及能量消耗,而这最终与用于数据发送的无线电链路的使用紧密关联,且存储器的必要刷新不再允许存储其他FF(格式化后的流)。
如果MAV显示模型由关于温度、湿度的信息以及表示气象条件的象形图构成,则PA从内容中提取温度、湿度和代码的属性。便携式设备EP通过直接写出温度和湿度的数据并将存储在其闪存或只读存储器(ROM)中的象形图与所接收的代码相关联,来构造对所述信息的显示。活动模式MAA中的显示模式的构成元素还被提取并被本地地存储在PA中,以便仅在用户请求时被发送。
所以,随机存取存储器中的消耗减少了多个字节,而不需要数十个字节来存储整个FB。
存储器的这种减少实现了在随机存取存储器中并行存储多个内容,每个内容都具有描述性的显示模型。然后EP可以通过在没有来自PA的请求更新的情况下在共享屏幕中连续地或并行显示该信息来组织其待用屏幕。
如果随机存取存储器不足以并行存储内容且由于更频繁地使用无线电链路而产生过度的电消耗,则这种更新就是必要的。
由于本发明,仅当必要时,即当PA检测到FB远程流的更新且通知EP时,内容才被刷新。
对于每10秒滚动一次内容的情况,没有使用本发明的解决方案意味着每10秒打开一次无线电链路,这就意味着会对产品造成严重损害的过度电消耗。
在标准方法中,解决方案将会是以下中的任一个:
-通过更有功效的蓄电池来增强电自主性,极大地增加了产品的大小和/或成本,
-增加存储器大小以便存储更多的流:由于随机存取存储器是成本高的组件,所以这增加了价钱,
-排除顺序地且自动地显示不同内容的可能性:对产品的兴趣降低。
本发明因而实现了根据不同的显示格式连续显示不同的内容。无线电链路仅用于流的更新,或例如每半小时更新一次,从而大大地提高了自主性。
模型的多样性构成了从用户的观点看对于产品的附加值。
呈现的示例可列为:
-天气:与温度和湿度相关联的象形图(例如RSS流),
-新闻:以标题的形式显示头条新闻(例如RSS流),
-公路交通:映射(例如WAP站点)。
显示模型与SD所使用的协议无关。PA的作用是:从相应的信息流以及其相关联的协议中提取对显示模型有用的信息,并基于对设备的MAV和MAA模型的在先了解来供应EP终端。
设备在向PA注册时注意到MAV和MAA显示模型的简档(profile)。所述简档是基于由PA在SD服务器与EP终端之间应用的“滤波器”的。好处是在诸如新的支持简档之类的EP设备的更新的情况下或在添加新设备的情况下对不同终端分组的简化管理。

图5表示EP(在待用模式中)中的FF格式化后的流的显示管理和更新的原理。
在待用模式中,EP终端按照由相应的MAV待用显示模型所描述的法则来连续显示用户激活的内容。
在接收到来自PA接入点的更新通知时,EP发送激活的内容的列表。作为应答,PA发送修改后的MAV的内容并在发送结束时关闭无线电链路(一旦没有了激活的流更新,PA就关闭无线电链路)。
可替换地,当用户激活/去激活给定内容时,EP可将更新请求发送到PA,如图6所示。然后PA连续将相应内容的更新发送回来。
在待用模式的扩展中,当用户(UT)请求关于所显示内容的详细资料时,活动模式介入。实际上,例如当通过用户的MAV来显示内容时,用户可以通过按下特定按钮来请求内容的详细资料。
在这种情况下,如图7所示,内容未存储在EP中以备将来使用。一旦用户决定中止咨询,内容就被发送、显示并“遗忘”。
然后终端返回到待用状态或返回到另一个内容。
产品的附加的升级的特性可通过经由无线电链路更新在数据闪存中存储的显示模型来实现。这种更新是特别的,其对自主性的影响可忽略不计。
以前述文本为例描述了本发明。需要理解,本领域技术人员能够在不背离本专利的范围的情况下提出本发明的变体。
Claims (9)
1.一种配备有屏幕和随机存取存储器的便携式通信设备,所述便携式通信设备包括:
·用于通过无线电链路接收数据流的装置;
其特征在于,所述便携式通信设备包括:
·用于在没有任何用户请求的情况下在所述显示屏上自动显示来自数据流的信息(I1)的装置,该信息(I1)的一部分在比显示的持续时间更长的时段内被存储在所述随机存取存储器中;
·用于在用户请求时在所述显示屏上显示来自数据流的信息(I2)的装置,所述信息(I2)仅在显示的持续时间内被存储在所述随机存取存储器中。
2.根据权利要求1所述的便携式通信设备,其特征在于,所述便携式通信设备包括用于在没有任何用户请求的情况下在所述屏幕上连续显示来自数据流的信息的装置。
3.根据权利要求1所述的便携式通信设备,其特征在于,所述便携式通信设备包括用于在没有任何用户请求的情况下在所述屏幕上分屏并行显示来自数据流的信息的装置。
4.根据权利要求1、2或3所述的便携式通信设备,其特征在于,根据预定义的文本和图形元素来格式化从无线电链路接收的数据流。
5.根据权利要求4所述的便携式通信设备,其特征在于,根据由预定义的文本和图形元素构成的两种模型来格式化从无线电链路接收的数据流,第一种模型用于在没有任何用户请求的情况下显示信息,第二种模型用于在用户请求时显示信息。
6.一种适于与便携式通信设备进行通信的基站,所述基站包括:
·用于连接到网络的装置;
·用于通过所述网络接收数据的装置;
·用于通过无线电链路接收请求的装置;
其特征在于,所述基站包括:
·用于检测通过所述网络接收的信息的更新的装置;
·用于在检测到通过所述网络接收的数据的更新时、在没有接收到
任何请求的情况下通过所述无线电链路发送数据的装置;
·用于在通过所述无线电链路接收到请求时通过所述无线电链路发送数据的装置。
7.根据权利要求6所述的适于与便携式通信设备进行通信的基站,其特征在于,所述基站包括用于格式化从所述网络接收的数据流的装置。
8.根据权利要求7所述的适于与便携式通信设备进行通信的基站,其特征在于,根据预定义的文本和图形元素在所述基站的层面处格式化从所述网络接收的数据流。
9.根据权利要求7所述的适于与便携式通信设备进行通信的基站,其特征在于,在所述基站的层面处根据由预定义的文本和图形元素构成的两种模型来执行对数据流的格式化,第一种模型用于在没有接收到请求的情况下发送数据,第二种模型用于在接收到请求时发送数据。
