本发明涉及用于在便携式电子设备和附件(或辅助,附属)设备之间通信的改进技术。所述附件设备能够增大或补充便携式电子设备的功能或能力。例如,在一个实施例中,所述附件设备能够提供到便携式电子设备的无线通信能力。在一个实施例中,便携式电子设备属于便携式媒体播放器且由此提供用于存储、重放或传输的媒体数据。在一个实施例中,附件设备可附连到便携式电子设备。

此外,便携式电子设备能够将附件设备设置到特定的模式。换言之,上述有关模式信息的任一控制状态能够通过将“设置模式(SetMode)”指令620发送到附件设备而由便携式电子设备改变。响应于“设置模式”指令620,附件设备能够发送回指示指令完成的状态的确认指令。在一个实施例中,“设置模式”指令620能够利用位屏蔽以有效请求附件设备的一个或多个特定模式改变。在任一种情况下,“设置模式”指令620能够要求相对于下列中的一个或多个设置一个或多个模式:功率控制模式、过滤模式、异步数据传送控制模式、轮询数据传送控制模式、数据帧传输控制模式、接收器监听控制模式、接收器监听窗口定时控制状态、同步信标帧传输控制状态、网络传输速率控制模式等。
此外,附件设备能够利用接收器过滤器,从而只有有关的那些有限的数据帧被从附件设备传送到便携式电子设备。这个能力对于通过无线网络以无线方式接收数据帧的附件设备特别有用。在一个实施例中,过滤器接收器能够使用过滤器列表实现。过滤器列表是对于它们数据帧是所需的那些节点标识符的列表。当能够进行过滤时,来自于不在列表中的节点的数据帧被过滤出(即排除)。协议包括“获取过滤器列表(Get Filter List)”指令622,“获取过滤器列表”指令622能够由便携式电子设备发送到附件设备以便获得节点标识符列表(即过滤器列表)。这要求附件设备支持使用“返回能力”指令614确定的标识符过滤。在一个实施例中,“获取过滤器列表”指令622能够包括:(1)要读取的过滤器列表中的开始节点标识符入口索引,和(2)要读取的节点标识符的最大量。在任一情况下,响应于“获取过滤器列表”指令622,“返回过滤器列表(Return Filter List)”指令624从附件设备提供到便携式电子设备。“返回过滤器列表”指令624包括当前呈现在附件设备上的节点标识符列表。在一个示例中,过滤器列表能够包含节点的网络地址入口列表,数据帧将从所述节点被接收且传送到便携式电子设备。提供有“返回过滤器列表(ReturnFilter List)”指令624的信息能够包括提供下列内容的参数:(1)进入过滤器列表的开始节点标识符入口索引,(2)正被返回的过滤器节点标识符的数量,和(3)过滤器列表本身。在一个实施中,过滤器列表能够提供为网络地址字段(例如过滤器节点标识符)的阵列。
此外,便携式电子设备还能够设置一个或多个过滤器列表中的节点标识符。过滤器列表包括属于网络节点的一个或多个网络地址入口,数据帧将从所述网络节点被接收且传送到便携式电子设备。因此,当能够进行节点过滤时,从源输入的不在节点过滤器列表内的数据帧将被忽略(即不被传送到便携式电子设备)。根据协议,为了在附件设备改变过滤器列表,便携式电子设备将“设置过滤器列表(Set FilterList)”指令626发送到附件设备。“设置过滤器列表”指令626使得便携式电子设备能够在附件设备对过滤器列表进行修改,如果附件设备支持这种过滤的话。在一个实施例中,“设置过滤器列表”指令626包括提供下列内容的参数:(1)将被设定的进入过滤器列表内的开始节点标识符入口索引,(2)正被设定的过滤器节点标识符的数量,和(3)过滤器列表本身。如上所述,在一个实施中,过滤器列表能够提供为网络地址字段(例如过滤器节点标识符)的阵列。利用“设置模式”指令能够启用/禁用使用过滤器列表的节点过滤。当搜索到或发现远程节点设备时禁用节点过滤,且一旦发现所需的远程节点设备时能够启用节点过滤。
此外,便携式电子设备可能希望通过附件设备将数据传送到目的地址。在这种情况以及其他情况下,“获取设备地址(Get DeviceAddress)”指令628能够从便携式电子设备发送到附件设备。此指令要求附件设备提供它自己的设备地址,所述设备地址此后将被用作用于可能由便携式电子设备传送的数据帧的源地址(因为附件设备是这种传送的数据帧的“源”)。响应于“获取设备地址”指令628,附件设备将“返回设备地址(Return Device Address)”指令630发送到便携式电子设备。“返回设备地址”指令630包括与附件设备相关联的目的地址。此后,如果且当便携式电子设备寻求通过附件设备传送数据,则与附件设备相关联的地址能用作用于一个或多个输出数据帧的源地址字段的源地址。
为了便于低功率操作,便携式电子设备能够管理或控制附件设备什么时候通过网络监听输入数据帧。典型地,网络是小的局域网,通常是无线的。在这方面,利用监听窗口从而附件设备仅在监听窗口期间积极地监听输入数据帧。在其他时间,附件设备通过在这种时间期间不试图监听而保存功率。因此,协议允许便携式电子设备发送“获取接收窗口定时(Get Receive Window Timing)”指令632,以便获得正在被利用的定时窗口的信息(如果有的话)。作为响应,附件设备应返回一个“返回接收窗口定时(Return Receive Window Timing)”指令634,“返回接收窗口定时”指令634包含用于监听窗口的定时间隔(接收窗口间隔)和用于监听窗口的持续时间(接收窗口持续时间)。如果由于某些原因附件设备不支持监听窗口定时,则返回具有相同的状态指示的确认指令。在一个具体的实施例中,当附件设备开始监听接收的数据帧时,接收窗口间隔是两个窗口之间的毫秒级时间。接收窗口持续时间是在接收窗口间隔已经开始之后附件设备监听接收的数据帧的毫秒级时间。进而,便携式电子设备能够操作以便在附件设备处设定接收窗口定时。在这方面,便携式电子设备能够将“设置接收窗口定时(Set Receive Window Timing)”指令636从便携式电子设备发送到附件设备。所述指令允许便携式电子设备配置接收窗口间隔和持续时间。典型地,便携式电子设备将在启用监听窗口之前配置接收窗口定时。监听窗口能够例如使用定时控制模式被启用,所述定时控制模式能够通过“设置模式”指令620设置。
在附件设备上设置传输信标数据帧和信标传输通知程序标识符中,协议也支持便携式电子设备。“设置传输信标帧(Set TransmitBeacon Frame)”638能够被用于在附件设备设置传输信标数据帧。如果合适的能力指示器指示了用于信标传输的支持,则所述指令能够被启用。“设置模式”指令620能够控制传输信标,所述传输信标只有在合法的传输信标数据帧已经利用“设置信标传输帧”指令638被设置之后才能够被启用。假定同步信标帧传输被启用,则根据信标传输间隔信标传输能够同步。“设置传输信标帧”指令638能够包括将被传送的数据帧。此外,“设置传输信标帧”指令638能够包括定时索引信息以便规定信标传输定时时间表。此外,“设置传输信标帧”指令638能够包括信标传输通知标识符,所述信标传输通知标识符在信标数据帧通过附件设备被传送时控制便携式电子设备的通知。
在“设置传输信标帧”指令638已经成功被设定和能够启用之后,假如传输通知未被禁用且支持相关的能力,则附件设备能够在它传送信标数据帧时将“信标传输通知(Beacon Transmission Notification)”指令642发送到便携式电子设备。在一个实施例中,“信标传输通知”指令642包括信标传输通知标识符和信标传输定时信息。通过接收回信标传输通知标识符,便携式电子设备能够确定已经传送了特定的信标数据帧。
信标是附件设备以规则间隔广播的数据帧。将被广播的信标内容、广播之间的时间间隔和在广播之后的监听时间段被规定在使用“设置传输信标帧”指令638从便携式电子设备发送到附件设备的数据帧内。
信标能够用于建立便携式电子设备和附件设备之间的无线通信链路。信标数据帧能够被配置用于在信标被广播之后监听一个短的时间段。如果附件设备想要与便携式电子设备通信,它能够等待将被广播的信标数据,然后它能够将数据帧发送到便携式电子设备。信标还能够用于将可得到的数据从便携式电子设备发送到正在监听的附件设备。例如,当便携式电子设备是便携式媒体播放器时,信标能够用于将媒体数据如当前的轨迹索引、轨迹位置、轨迹名称或播放状态发送到另一设备(附件设备,其它便携式电子设备等)。
此外,协议包括“获取网络数据速率(Get Network Data Rate)”指令642。“获取网络数据速率”指令642能够由便携式电子设备发送到附件设备以便从附件设备获得当前的网络传输速率。典型地,所涉及的网络是无线网络,但在其他实施例中,网络可以是有线网络。在可配置的数据速率不被支持的情况下,此操作是无法得到的。响应于“获取网络数据速率”指令642,附件设备返回“返回网络数据速率(Return Network Data Rate)”指令644。“返回网络数据速率”指令644包括为附件设备设置的当前的网络传输速率。“设置网络数据速率”指令646还被提供以便允许便携式电子设备在附件设备处设置网络传输速率。假定要求的网络数据速率被附件设备支持且附件设备允许网络传输速率的配置,那么“设置网络数据速率”指令646允许便携式电子设备在附件设备处将网络数据速率设置到多个不同传输数据速率中的一个。
本发明的不同方面、实施例、实现或特征能够单独或组合使用。
本发明优选通过软件、硬件或硬件和软件的组合实现。本发明还能够实施为计算机可读介质上的计算机可读代码。计算机可读介质是能够存储此后能够通过计算机系统读取的数据的任何数据存储装置。计算机可读介质的示例包括只读存储器、随机存取存储器、CD-ROM、DVD、磁带、光学数据存储装置和载波。计算机可读介质也可以分布在网络连接计算机系统中,从而计算机可读代码以分布的方式被存储和执行。
本发明的许多特征和优点从说明书的描述中变得明显,由此所附权利要求旨在覆盖本发明的这些特征和优点。此外,由于对于本领域的普通技术人员而言可以进行许多的修改和变型,因此本发明不限于所描述和示出的具体的结构和操作。因此,所有合适的修改和等同物都落在本发明的范围之内。
Claims (18)
1.一种由便携式电子设备实施的与附件设备通信的装置,所述装置包括:
用于向附件设备发出设备能力请求的模块;
用于从附件设备接收设备能力响应的模块,其中所述设备能力响应包括关于过滤能力、监听模式能力和监听窗口定时能力中的一个或多个的信息;
用于向附件设备发出设备模式设置请求的模块,所述设备模式设置请求被用于设置附件设备的操作模式;
用于向附件设备发出设置过滤器请求的模块,所述设置过滤器请求被用于在附件设备处配置网络过滤;
用于向附件设备发出设置接收窗口定时请求的模块,所述设置接收窗口定时请求被用于设置接收窗口,所述附件设备仅在所述接收窗口期间通过网络监听输入数据帧;和
用于基于设备能力、操作模式和网络过滤与附件设备随后交互的模块,其中所述交互包括在所述便携式电子设备处接收来自所述附件设备的数据帧,所述数据帧在接收窗口期间通过网络由所述附件设备接收。
2.根据权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述附件设备通过与便携式电子设备可移除地相连而与便携式电子设备耦合。
3.根据权利要求2所述的装置,其中所述附件设备通过经便携式电子设备的连接器和附件设备的连接器与便携式电子设备可移除地相连而与便携式电子设备耦合。
4.根据权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述设备模式设置请求操作以在所述附件设备处设置功率控制模式、过滤模式、数据传输控制模式、监听模式、监听窗口定时控制状态、信标传输控制状态、和传输速率控制状态中的一个或多个。
5.根据权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述设置过滤器请求操作以在附件设备处设置条目,其中所述条目包括:开始节点标识符入口索引、要被设定的过滤器节点标识符的数量、和过滤器列表。
6.根据权利要求1所述的装置,
其中所述设置过滤器请求将一个或多个条目添加到过滤器列表中,和
其中所述一个或多个条目被附件设备使用以确定通过网络在附件设备处接收的哪些数据帧被转发到便携式电子设备。
7.根据权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述装置进一步包括:
用于向附件设备发出设置网络数据率请求的模块,所述设置网络数据率请求被用于为网络设置传输速率,所述网络被附件设备利用以便与生理感测设备通信。
8.根据权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述设置接收窗口定时请求至少包括时间间隔和用于接收窗口的持续时间。
9.根据权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述装置进一步包括:
用于向附件设备发出设置传送信标请求的模块,所述设置传输信标请求被附件设备使用以通过网络发送数据帧,所述网络被附件设备利用以便与另一设备通信。
10.一种由便携式电子设备实施的与附件设备通信的方法,所述方法包括:
向附件设备发出设备能力请求;
从附件设备接收设备能力响应,其中所述设备能力响应包括关于过滤能力、监听模式能力和监听窗口定时能力中的一个或多个的信息;
向附件设备发出设备模式设置请求,所述设备模式设置请求被用于设置附件设备的操作模式;
向附件设备发出设置过滤器请求,所述设置过滤器请求被用于在附件设备处配置网络过滤;
向附件设备发出设置接收窗口定时请求,所述设置接收窗口定时请求被用于设置接收窗口,所述附件设备仅在所述接收窗口期间通过网络监听输入数据帧;和
基于设备能力、操作模式和网络过滤与附件设备随后交互,其中所述交互包括在所述便携式电子设备处接收来自所述附件设备的数据帧,所述数据帧在接收窗口期间通过网络由所述附件设备接收。
11.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述附件设备通过与便携式电子设备可移除地相连而与便携式电子设备耦合。
12.根据权利要求11所述的方法,其中所述附件设备通过经便携式电子设备的连接器和附件设备的连接器与便携式电子设备可移除地相连而与便携式电子设备耦合。
13.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述设备模式设置请求操作以在所述附件设备处设置功率控制模式、过滤模式、数据传输控制模式、监听模式、监听窗口定时控制状态、信标传输控制状态、和传输速率控制状态中的一个或多个。
14.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述设置过滤器请求操作以在附件设备处设置条目,其中所述条目包括:开始节点标识符入口索引、要被设定的过滤器节点标识符的数量、和过滤器列表。
15.根据权利要求10所述的方法,
其中所述设置过滤器请求将一个或多个条目添加到过滤器列表中,和
其中所述一个或多个条目被附件设备使用以确定通过网络在附件设备处接收的哪些数据帧被转发到便携式电子设备。
16.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述方法进一步包括:
向附件设备发出设置网络数据率请求,所述设置网络数据率请求被用于为网络设置传输速率,所述网络被附件设备利用以便与生理感测设备通信。
17.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述设置接收窗口定时请求至少包括时间间隔和用于接收窗口的持续时间。
18.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述方法进一步包括:
向附件设备发出设置传送信标请求,所述设置传输信标请求被附件设备使用以通过网络发送数据帧,所述网络被附件设备利用以便与另一设备通信。
