Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及关于位置的服务(LBS)应用的无线电信,具体地说,涉及本地兴趣点、基于位置的广告、基于位置的博客、基于位置的商务等的提供。
背景技术
销售商总是设法用新的创新方法影响客户。为此,正在出现一些能根据客户的位置有针对性地对客户营销和广告的一些技术。
例如,传统的Bluetooth MediaServer(可从www.wiremedia.com获得)借助蓝牙通信向最接近的使用兼容蓝牙无线技术的无线设备分发广告内容。不过,这种系统要求相关无线设备靠得很近,即,在给定Bluetooth MediaServer发射器的范围内。尽管这样,愿意的客户还必须具有支持兼容蓝牙的无线设备以接收所述营销或广告。
其它方法要求用户通过计算机浏览器应用程序,例如基于因特网的广告系统(例如Google搜索)直接把其位置输入网页。搜索引擎网页(例如,Google)根据用户输入的邮政编码提供搜索结果,以及特定于位置的商业广告。该方法要求用户拥有支持浏览器的设备,用非常宽泛的项目(例如,邮政编码)手工输入他们自己的位置,并且依赖于用户不会产生输入错误。
需要一种根据用户的位置,发送针对相关用户的营销信息、广告信息、博客信息等,而不会过度加重相关无线网络的负担的方法和设备。
发明内容
按照本发明的原理,基于位置的服务包括位置信息数据库,位置信息数据库包含多个位置信息点。触发响应模块适于响应于所接收的基于位置的服务(LBS)触发,获取从所述多个位置信息点中采集到第二多个位置信息点中的邻近的位置信息点,所述第二多个位置信息点对应于所述多个位置信息点中那些位于触发无线设备的当前位置的给定邻近区域内的位置信息点,并且将所收集的邻近的位置信息点下载到生成所述LBS触发的无线设备。触发可以来自网络部件,以及来自无线设备,例如给新的小区站点的注册通知。
按照另一方面的向无线设备提供基于位置的信息的方法包括接收无线设备产生的基于位置的服务(LBS)触发。获得无线设备的当前位置。获得在触发无线设备的当前位置的给定邻近区域内的多个位置信息点。把所述多个位置信息点下载到产生LBS触发的无线设备上。

具体实施方式
确定精确位置的方法有多种(例如,辅助GPS(AGPS)、到达时间差(TDOA)等),其中的一些方法是以网络为中心的并且一些方法是以设备为中心的。无线设备方面的最新趋势已促使越来越多的处理能力安装到无线设备中。这种趋势由摩尔定律和继续向无线最终用户提供更高级应用的期望的组合所推送。这里,发明人认识到最终结果将是无线设备更主动,在一些情况下,是计算它自己的精确位置的主要引擎;很可能是所述位置信息的来源或保持者;更加能够利用这种本地维护的位置信息。
因此,本发明提供一种当手机自己确定它已到达预先下载的兴趣点附近时,利用触发推送提供位置触发的信息,例如特定位置的广告、博客、视频、多媒体内容、网页、自动拨打的电话呼叫、弹出式内容(pop-up)、其它相关的基于位置的内容的方法。基于大概位置的兴趣点位置信息的预取和排队减少了网络上与反复传送位置以便与网络寄存的位置点做比较相关联的通信量。本发明利用与无线设备在确定其精确位置方面目益增强的作用结合的无线设备的增强处理能力,来促进在设备处的本地、自动触发特定于位置的事件。
当设备经过无线网络时,其有效连接在无线电网络通信端点之间“切换”。这些端点可以是PCS的发射塔、LEO或寻呼网络的卫星、WiFi的无线路由器、或者其它无线电网络控制器组件。与网络无关,数据一般被保持在网络内或者被保持在设备处(通常既保持在网络内又保持在设备处),使得该设备能够被定位以传送呼叫、消息、数据等。类似地,该设备保留此信息,使得它能够作为特定于设备端点的事务的一部分提供该信息。为了简化起见,无线电连接端点一般被称为“大体位置”。这种“大体位置”的一个例子是地面PCS网络的小区站点和扇区组合。一个重要的方面在于设备知道其位置并跟踪其“大体位置”,而不仅仅是网络。按照这种方式,设备能够具有跟踪大体位置以触发变化的“内核”。这使得能够在无线设备中单独用软件实现本发明。
术语“基于位置的服务(LBS)”通常涉及利用无线设备用户的地理位置的知识的消费应用和商业应用。诸如街道地址之类的位置信息可由用户直接输入,不过这里所指的基于位置的服务(LBS)涉及例如利用用户的无线设备,比如蜂窝电话机或个人数字助理(PDA)中的全球定位系统(GPS)以电子方式自动获得的位置信息。当然,在本发明的原理内,其它的精确定位方法也是可能的。
图1按照本发明的原理,描述位置推送事件的基于设备的触发,所述位置触发事件触发向设备传送在该设备范围内的相邻兴趣点。
特别地,如图1中所示,具有被定位能力的无线设备113注意到位置的变化,并生成LBS触发100。该设备把LBS触发100传递给适当的基于位置的信息数据库150。大体位置也可由网络确定,比如小区站点/扇区切换。响应于手机上的被触发事件,从位置信息数据库150中提取涉及手机的位置的所请求的位置信息102(例如邻近兴趣点),并将其下载到无线设备113。
所公开的实施例描述由用户的无线设备113发起并被传给网络数据库150的软件LBS触发100的使用。触发100可以采取两种形式。触发100可请求网络数据库150根据用户的当前位置,向触发无线设备113提供在围绕用户的无线设备113当前位置的给定区域内的修订的一组邻近位置信息点。当用户移动时,有时用户会下载修订的一组兴趣点位置,以在手机的当前位置周围提供足够的缓冲区,使得设备能够来回移动并且持续较长时间自动推送触发。作为替代地,触发100可请求与已到达预先下载的位置信息兴趣点附近的手机相关的基于位置的信息(例如,博客、文本、弹出式内容、视频等)。
还可预期另一种变型,其中触发请求运行特定的应用程序。对设备来说这可以是本地的,或者在网络内运行,下载。
位置信息点包含与特定位置相关的信息。它们可以只包含位置的纬度/经度,和关于当到达位置信息点的纬度/经度附近时,位置推送中请求什么的具体指示。位置信息点可包括预先下载到手机的附加信息,例如文本消息、视频等。附加信息可在手机的其它操作的后台处理中,随着时间的过去被下载到手机上,从而在用户看来似乎操作更平滑。
从而,位置信息点可被提炼,从而只表示兴趣点(POI)的XY(纬度/经度)。关键是使手机知道它已到达触发位置。
位置信息点可以是兴趣点、标记位置的博客、商业场所(广告集中在该商业场所服务的周围区域)、视频、多媒体、音频、自动拨号的电话号码、自动访问的网页、自动向用户呈现的弹出式内容、要运行的应用程序等等。
用户的无线设备113响应检测到用户的显著移动,例如运动者正在步行、开车等(由定位设备(例如GPS)检测),用户的无线设备113在适当的时候发起LBS触发100。当然,用户的无线设备113可在其它时候发起LBS触发100,例如,在用户的无线设备113上启动相关的基于位置的服务应用时,等等。
酌情不时发送LBS触发100以请求修订的一组周围兴趣点,不过最好只有当“大体位置”改变时,才发送该LBS触发。“大体位置”代表可由网络拓扑驱动的地理范围,比如小区站点和扇区。如果“大体位置”不变化,那么不产生触发事件。
网络数据库150向触发无线设备113返回足够的基于位置的信息,使得触发无线设备113将接收和缓存与无线设备113还未接近,但是无线设备113可能会接近的区域,例如,该“大体位置”所限定的范围内的所有那些触发位置相关的基于位置的纬度/经度信息(以及当到达该纬度/经度附近时,可能向用户呈现的内容)。该想法是向无线设备113提供无线设备113根据接近度立即需要的基于位置的预期信息,从而既减少随着时间的过去的网络通信量,又向用户提供更平滑、更快速的操作用户接口。
基于位置的信息可被保持并按照预定的固定网格被呈现,或者在逐个触发的基础上被确定为接近用户的当前位置。
就预定固定网格的使用来说,图2按照本发明的原理,表示第一实施例中,大体位置区域或范围的网格,所述一些(或全部)大体位置区域或范围包含一个或多个兴趣点。
具体地说,如图2中所示,以图形方式表示了给定的地理区域,该地理区域被分成大体位置区域或范围的网格。为了便于说明,以图形方式表示图2:基于位置的信息可按照任何适当的形式,例如文本、带文本信息的纬度/经度、文本和图片、录像等保存在适当的数据库中。
图2中所示的第一范围302包括三个位置相关信息点310-312。为了说明起见,示出了多个范围,其中的一些不包括任何信息点,另一些包含不同数目的附加信息点313-320。
信息点313-320都包含呈任何适当电子媒体形式(例如,文本、照片、视频、音频、短消息、电子邮件等)的基于位置的信息,不过重要的是把该信息与相应的给定位置310-312联系起来。信息点可以是在设备上或网络中启动不同的应用程序的触发,以及诸如文本、照片、电子邮件之类的信息。
给定的位置310-312可以是精确的纬度/经度点、纬度/经度值的范围,或者甚至矢量范围或几何形状(例如,建筑物的周界)。
图3按照本发明的原理,示出第一实施例中,图2中所示的示例性大体位置区域或范围的细节,环绕每个兴趣点的邻近区域的大小是根据相关设备的当前相对较慢的运动速度(例如,步行)测定的。
具体地说,如图3中所示,以图形方式示出了基于位置的信息点310-312的示例性范围302,同时在每个基于位置的信息点310-312周围,描绘了相应的邻近距离310a-312a。邻近距离310a-312a可由网络确定,是用户或网络可配置的,特定于应用程序的需要(例如,步行旅行指南应用程序对“寻友”搜寻服务(friend finder)。旅行指南希望你位于特定的地点,而“寻友”搜寻服务可能在特定的范围内),或者可根据与用户相关的附加信息(例如,用户的速度)确定。
特别地,来自触发无线设备113的LBS触发100可包括与用户的无线设备113和/或位置相关的附加信息。例如,LBS触发100可包括与用户的当前速度或最近速度相关的信息(例如,当前速度、平均速度、中值速度、速度范围等)。用户速度信息可被用于限定用户当前位置的一个适当范围,对于该范围,将向触发无线设备113提供相关位置信息。提供位置信息点的范围302的大小优选地基于网络拓扑(以使通信开销最小),不过也可利用其它信息,以及任何相关的物理设备限制,比如触发无线设备113中的存储器的可用量、网络带宽限制等。
如果如图3中所示,用户正在缓慢移动(例如,步行),那么可限定较小的邻近区域310a-312a,提供在较小的邻近区域310a-312a内的相关的基于位置的信息点(例如,呈现先前下载的与兴趣点、标记位置的博客、视频、音频、弹出式内容等相关的内容的触发),使得如果/当用户接近预先获得位置信息的位置点310-312时,设备应用程序能够在适当的时候自动将相关的基于位置的信息点呈现给用户。另一方面,如果用户快速移动(例如,开车),那么与关于缓慢移动的用户(例如,步行)限定的较小的邻近区域310a-312a(图3)相比,可限定较大的邻近区域310b-312b(图4),向用户提供离用户的当前位置比较远的位置的位置信息。具体地说,图4按照本发明的原理,详细示出图2中所示的示例性大体位置区域或范围,围绕每个兴趣点的邻近区域的大小是基于相关设备113的当前较快运动速度(例如,开车)的。
尽管图3和4描述基于速度的位置信息点触发的范围的变型,不过可附加地考虑或替代性地考虑其它的信息。例如,附加地考虑用户的当前位置的区域周围的网络拓扑。如果网络被视为一系列的重叠小区,每个小区中具有兴趣点,那么当个人/设备跨小区时,如正常网络操作那样发生切换。这种切换根据网络拓扑提供大体位置。因此速度是必需要考虑的,因为如果用户/设备高速移动(例如,在汽车、高速火车、飞机等中),那么可能必需传送多个网络小区的兴趣位置点数据,使得手机将具有预先下载的关于多个小区的位置信息点触发。
重要的是,实施例描述基于位置的信息点310-312和相关联的基于位置的信息在受到网络和设备限制的用户设备上的本地存储,以及当用户变得极其邻近,即,在与相应信息点310-312相关联的邻近区域310a-312a内时,基于位置的信息向用户的呈现。另一方面,下载并且本地保存的基于位置的信息点310-312及相关联的信息可包含位置点、邻近区域310a-312a,和表示用于基于与相应信息点的接近度进行触发的所下载的本地或网络驻留应用程序的参考或信号量(semaphore)。
作为替代地,可按照基于逐个触发地,以用户的当前位置为中心的定制方式提供基于位置的信息。例如,图5A-5H示出在另一个实施例中,当给定无线设备113来回移动时,关于该给定无线设备113确定的邻近范围510的细节。邻近范围510的大小(和形状)可由服务提供商或用户预先确定,由服务提供商和/或用户配置,和/或根据从无线设备113接收的当前信息(例如,根据无线设备113的速度)调整。
为了便于说明和解释,在图5A-5H中,在与图2中所示的范围网格中的相同位置描述兴趣点310-320,但是图5A-5H中没有预先定义的网格。而是,在本实施例中,向用户提供位置信息点的范围是根据在发送LBS触发100时无线设备113的当前位置确定的。
注意更频繁地从无线设备113传送LBS触发100将确保无线设备113将不会碰到这样一个特定位置,其位置信息在基于位置的信息库150中但是无线设备113还没有收到与该位置相关的位置信息。应按照当最后一次下载基于位置的信息时,无线设备113通常不在位于邻近范围510之外的位置的方式,定邻近范围510的大小,以允许无线设备113来回移动较长的一段时间而不必发送另一个LBS触发100。
如图5A中所示,无线设备113产生LBS触发100,并且接收此时在邻近范围510a内的任何/所有位置点的位置信息。此时,邻近范围510a包括位置点310-312。

具体地说,如图6中所示,按照本发明,如状态600所示,在根据无线设备113的当前位置或者说“大体位置”的变化,发送请求下载“兴趣点”触发点的LBS触发100的设备上激活应用程序(例如,小型应用程序)。
由于无线设备113的当前位置由设备113保持,因此请求优选地不仅包括无线设备113的当前位置,而且优选地还包括设备113的唯一标识符。这种元组的格式可按照任何适当的方式来定义。
设备提供的信息被用于根据设备/用户指定的配置文件,预取位置信息点的表格。如上所述,位置信息点的表格只包括在无线设备113的当前位置附近的精确位置信息点X/Y坐标。
当无线设备113在网络内来回移动时,设备113在设备层面更新(跟踪)精确位置,但是不必把该数据通知给网络。(这可被认为推断辅助数据已被下载,能够实现精确定位等。)LBS应用程序比较无线设备113的当前位置X/Y和目前保持的位置信息点(例如,310-312),以根据无线设备113的当前位置X/Y和相关位置信息点X/Y 310-312之间的接近度计算结果,确定是否/何时在无线设备113处触发事件。本实施例中,无线设备113的当前位置和保存的位置信息点310-312之间的匹配导致向服务网络请求下载该位置的相关位置信息。以此方式,只有当无线设备113首次到达给定位置信息点附近时,才会出现位置相关信息的特定下载触发。随后采取恰当的触发动作,是否要把特定于位置的应用程序、广告、优惠券、游戏触发事件、博客等下载到手机。按照这种方式,所希望的位置特定事件已被设备触发并执行,同时使需要下载到手机的通信和数据的量最小化。
图7按照本发明的原理,示出示例性的基于设备触发的推送位置事件的流程图。
具体地说,当无线设备113检测到明显的位置变化时,可以产生LBS触发100。如图7的步骤700中所示,无线设备113中的周期计时器不时确定无线设备113的当前位置是否在已经预先下载到无线设备113的任意位置信息点的邻近范围内。其思想是设备无论如何周期性地重新计算位置,从而触发能够以时间或者其它因素,比如运动、速度或用户动作为基础。
在步骤702,当计时器满期时,确定无线设备113的当前位置。
在步骤704,比较无线设备113的当前位置与任意/所有位置信息点(例如,310-312)的X/Y纬度/经度,加上每个位置信息点周围的任何相关邻近区域。
在步骤706,比较无线设备113的当前位置与保存在本地触发表中的每个位置信息点周围的邻近区域。
在步骤708,确定无线设备113的当前位置是否与给定的位置信息点相匹配。如果否,那么进程保持空闲直到在步骤700中计时器再次超时为止。
不过,如果无线设备113的当前位置与给定的位置信息点相匹配,那么进程进入步骤710,采取适当的动作,从而向用户呈现相关的位置信息。如果所关心的人移动到规定的周界之外,那么触发也可在网络内启动一个全新的应用程序,例如,跟踪软件应用。
例如,此时可请求从位置信息数据库150把特定的文本、视频或音频信息下载到无线设备113。这里把如步骤712中所示的获得位置信息,或者快速安装(kickstarting)的过程称为kickstart触发应用。该进程可以是信号量,尽管不必须是信号量。
注意步骤700中的计时器继续运行,并检查与其它位置点的匹配,而不管先前的位置信息是否被呈现给用户(即,位置信息可重叠)。
在步骤714,等待发生触发事件(即,与位置信息点的匹配)的手机或网络应用被启动,并进行其独立的处理。这可包括也用于触发评估的位置定位等。优选是当结束时,按照它自己的规则终止的独立应用。
在步骤716,LBS应用结束。
无线设备113中的LBS应用能够采取java小程序(applet)(j2me)BREW扩展、symbian应用,或者可被嵌入或下载并在设备上执行的其它编码逻辑的形式。在任意一种情况下,可使LBS应用对其它应用程序开发人员来说是可用的以利用公共的XY可下载表格。
java小程序表,或者位置信息点的列表可包括当下载到无线设备113时的语境。除了该表格是定义可用于其它应用程序的特定特性的一组“元组”之外,它类似于XY表。该信息可包括作为触发的一部分提供给网络的隐私设置、用户、设备信息、位置、速度等。作为替代地,如果作为对LBS触发100的响应的一部分,已提供了基于位置的可作用的特定信息,那么当前位置和先前加载的位置信息点之间的匹配可由无线设备113上的下载的应用程序实现。

Claims (11)
1.一种提供基于无线设备位置的服务的装置,包括:
兴趣点POI信息数据库,其包含多个与特定位置和所述无线设备相关的POI信息点;以及
触发响应模块,响应于基于位置的服务LBS触发,适于当所述无线设备处于邻近未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点中的给定的一个POI信息触发点的位置时,触发与所述给定的POI信息触发点相关的基于位置的信息的检索;
其中,与所述未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点的所述给定的POI信息触发点相关的所述基于位置的信息被发送到所述无线设备,所述未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点是所述无线设备计划在未来时间会碰到的第二多个POI信息触发点。
2.按照权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述基于位置的信息包括:
文本内容。
3.按照权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述基于位置的信息包括:
音频内容。
4.按照权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述基于位置的信息包括:
视频内容。
5.按照权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述基于位置的信息包括:
唯一识别独立应用的指针。
6.按照权利要求1所述的装置,其中所述基于位置的信息包括:
统一资源定位符URL链接。
7.一种向无线设备提供基于位置的信息的方法,包括:
由所述无线设备产生基于位置的服务LBS触发;
获得所述无线设备的当前位置;
获得所述无线设备的当前速度;
响应于所述LBS触发,当所述无线设备处于邻近未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点中的给定的一个POI信息触发点的位置时,检索与所述给定的POI信息触发点相关的基于位置的信息;以及
将与所述未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点的所述给定的POI信息触发点相关的所述基于位置的信息发送到所述无线设备;
其中,所述未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点是所述无线设备计划在未来时间会碰到的第二多个POI信息触发点。
8.按照权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:
获得所述无线设备和设备类型中的至少一个的唯一标识符。
9.按照权利要求8所述的方法,进一步包括:
在所述无线设备接收所述基于位置的信息之前,从所述无线设备提供所述无线设备的唯一标识符和设备类型中的至少其中一个。
10.一种检索供无线设备使用的基于位置的信息的方法,包括:
获得所述无线设备的当前速度;
产生基于位置的服务LBS触发;
通过无线网络把所述LBS触发传递给兴趣点POI信息数据库;
响应于所述LBS触发,当所述无线设备处于邻近未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点中的给定的一个POI信息触发点的位置时,检索与所述给定的POI信息触发点相关的基于位置的信息;以及
将与所述未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点的所述给定的POI信息触发点相关的所述基于位置的信息发送到所述无线设备;
其中,所述未来邻近第二多个POI信息触发点是所述无线设备计划在未来时间会碰到的第二多个POI信息触发点。
11.按照权利要求10所述的检索供无线设备使用的基于位置的信息的方法,还包括:
和所述LBS触发一起提供所述无线设备的唯一标识符和设备类型中的至少其中一个。
