技术领域
本发明总体上涉及一种用于容纳电活性镜片的眼镜架(spectacle frame)的适配器。具体地,本发明涉及一种被配置成用来在既不需要对眼镜架进行任何独特地设计和制造,也不需要对现有的眼镜架执行任何过分修改的情况下,使得眼镜架能够操作和控制被容纳在其中的电活性镜片的适配器。特别是,所述眼镜架可允许被容纳在其中的电活性镜片进行调焦并且可通过自动和手动这两种方式以此前未实现的效果对电活性镜片予以控制。
背景技术
在提供动态变化的焦点的电活性眼镜镜片的本发明下,工程师希望这些镜片能够与大多数业已存在的眼镜架设计兼容,如果不是全部的话。为了完成这样的任务,所有用于操作电活性功能所需要的元件必须并入镜片主体的内部或外部,使得所述镜片能够被安装在任何未经修改的眼镜架中并且仍具令人满意的美观性和充分的实用性这二者。
过去,眼镜行业曾以这样的方式来构造:患者主要基于与眼镜架舒适度和外观相关的美学角度来选择他的或她的眼镜。通常,在挑选处方眼镜中眼镜架是首先要选择的项目。而包括色调、镀膜以及光学设计的镜片则通常被放在第二位。假设相当大数目的可用的眼镜架样式、尺寸以及颜色,该行业过去运行的方式,以及顾客或患者希望可从大量的眼镜架中选择,这就希望提供一种用于新的电活性镜片和现有的眼镜架设计之间近乎完全兼容性的装置和系统。
因此,本发明现在要提供一种适于容纳电活性镜片的改进眼镜架,有效克服了上述难点和本领域为时已久的固有问题。这些问题已经以通过其来控制电活性镜片的简单、便利且极其高效的方式予以解决了。
发明内容
根据本发明的一个方面,公开了一种适用于电活性镜片的适配器,其中电活性镜片被容纳在眼镜架中并且所述电活性镜片具有第一组电接触。所述适配器是与电活性镜片相分开的元件,其具有第二组电接触,用于通过第一组电接触向所述电活性镜片提供电信号。
本领域技术人员将会意识到,本发明最大的优点是使得眼镜架在不需对其进行独特设计和制造,也不需对现有的眼镜架执行过度修改的情况下能够操作和控制容纳在其中的电活性镜片。所述眼镜架可允许容纳在其中的电活性镜片调焦并且可通过自动和手动两种方式以此前未实现的效果来加以控制。从下面的描述本发明的另外的目的将变得显而易见。

具体实施方式
通过附图例示的下列优选实施例是对本发明举例说明的,而非意在对本发明进行限制,本发明由本申请的权利要求所包含。
如图1所示,在本发明的所有实施例中,电活性眼镜镜片100包含电活性镜片元件101和包括一个或多个调焦传感器102的驱动电子设备,所有调焦传感器102都被嵌入镜片103主体之内,所述镜片103用来校正与远视不相关联的眼睛的折射误差。所述驱动电子设备包含在驱动器中内。所述驱动器可包括用于提供适合的电信号的所有必要的控制组件以在电活性镜片中提供恰当的光学倍率(optical power)。所述镜片主体可以是精制坯件(两个光学质量表面)或是半精制坯件(一个光学质量表面)。所述调焦传感器、驱动电子设备以及电活性镜片元件可典型地附连到柔性但透明的星形基片104的前表面和/或后表面,在所述星形基片104处电连接(electrical connection)是经由薄膜透明电导线105(诸如,仅仅为了举例,铟锡氧化物,ITO)来予以进行的。这些薄膜透明电导线包括用于电源的连接106。这些薄膜透明电导线也可包括用于数字或模拟信号传输的连接。在某些其它实施例中,电源和信号连接可能是不同的设计,在该设计它们连接到柔性基片但包含非薄膜导体,仅仅为了举例,诸如纤细的金属线。这种可选择的设计是这样的,即所述连接不会显著干扰使用者的视线或镜片的美观。这些电源和信号连接以及调焦传感器和驱动电子都被布置在镜片边缘附近,在镜片边缘附近眼镜架圈线(eye-wire)和脚丝(temple)连接,因此当所述镜片装配在所述眼镜架内时,电源、驱动电子设备和调焦传感器都不干扰使用者的视线。可替换地,驱动组件可布置在所述电活性镜片的末端,或在眼镜架、脚丝或本发明的适配器中。
在图2所示的本发明的实施例中,具有电活性区域203的电活性镜片201是使用本领域熟知的技术予以磨边的(切割出符合眼镜架的形状)。对镜片进行磨边的过程用来使连接到电源的电导线部分或者全部暴露。此经磨边的镜片于是与电子适配器202结合,如图3B所示,该适配器202可包括一个或多个电功率源305,一个或多个用来向使用者提供对所述镜片的手动控制的电子开关306,以及一个或多个传感器307,所述传感器307用于检测使用者的存在(确定眼镜是否正被戴着)。作为可选设计,所述传感器307也可包括用于电活性镜片的驱动电子设备102。所述传感器307也可感测眼镜架是否被打开。此适配器具有与电源对应的电接触308以及镜片中的信号电接触106,使得当所述适配器布置于眼镜镜片和眼镜架的圈线之间时,与把镜片紧固在镜架内相关联的压力用来使所述镜片和所述适配器之间进行有效的电接触以及在物理上把所述适配器紧固到眼镜上。适配器内的组件借助内部缆线309予以电连接。仅仅为了举例,包括在适配器内的电源也可以是一次性的锌空气电池或可再充电的锂离子或锂聚合物电池。仅仅为了举例,包括在适配器内的手动开关也可以是压力开关、电容触控开关或光接近开关。仅仅为了举例,用来确定眼镜是否正被戴着的传感器可以是光接近开关或加速计,所述光接近开关或加速计如果被激活,会指示驱动电子设备去操作在镜片主体内的所述调焦传感器。在此实施例中,每个镜片会是同样的并且均要求单独的适配器。驱动器可提供电信号,用来在每个电活性镜片中生成适量的光学倍率。所述驱动器也可包括调焦传感器,用来确定用于所述电活性镜片的适合的信号。
还如图3A-3J所示,仅仅为了举例,在某些实施例中,使用这样的适配器202可能需要除磨边以外的其它加工步骤,在所述加工步骤,在镜片201的主体上加工一个或多个狭槽、凹槽,或凹口301,使得在眼镜架、镜片和适配器之间做出稳固的物理和电连接。因为所述适配器会被布置在眼镜架圈线和脚丝连接的位置附近,所以这样的加工步骤可能允许所述适配器定位于镜片302的后表面上并且大部分通过脚丝铰链从示图隐藏起来。这样的布置会有利于保护眼镜的美学质量。优选地,适配器303的边缘轮廓与镜片304的边缘轮廓相匹配,因此可以保证眼镜架、镜片与适配器之间的可靠装配。
本发明中的适配器的实施例可包含任何的组件组合。例如,如图3B所示,适配器可以具有on/off(通/断)开关、电源和用于感测使用者的存在的传感器。可替换地,如图3C所示,适配器可以仅具有电源。可替换地,如图3D所示,适配器可以仅具有on/off开关。可替换地,如图3E所示,适配器可以仅具有用于感测使用者的存在的传感器。如图3F所示,适配器可以具有on/off开关和用于感测使用者的存在的传感器。如图3G所示,适配器可以具有on/off开关和电源。如图3H所示,适配器可以具有电源和用于感测使用者的存在的传感器。
如在图3I和3J中另外图示的,眼镜架、镜片与适配器之间所做的电连接可包括物理连接,在该物理连接中所述镜片与所述适配器之间的配对(mating)件彼此旋上。如所示,所述适配器可包括螺纹311,所述螺纹311紧固到镜片中的配对螺纹310中。当然,正如本领域众所周知的,这样的物理连接还能够包括广泛的等价物,例如,卡口型连接、插锁、揿钮类连接等等。如本领域众所周知的,所述电连接可以由广泛的电配对件来制作,例如,凸/凹形连接、插头、插座、销等。
所述适配器可被放置成使得其同时接触镜片和眼镜架,或者,可替换地,所述适配器可被放置成使得其只接触镜片而不接触眼镜架。当所述适配器与所述镜片接触时,所述适配器可被放置成使得它被定位在所述镜片的表面之上和之下。当所述适配器与所述镜片接触时,所述适配器还可放置成使得它被定位在所述镜片表面的外围附近。
上述实施例的一个问题是每个镜片独立于其它镜片而操作。因此,存在可能性,即在某些操作条件下,一个镜片可在其它镜片不工作时被触发来工作。为了消除此问题,就必须设计出用于使两个镜片工作同步的装置,使得当两个镜片中的一个被激活时,按默认另一个也将被激活。在本发明另一实施例中,两个镜片的电子适配器借助离散信号导管连接,仅仅为了举例,诸如一条或多条纤细的金属线或光纤。这样的信号导管可隐藏在眼镜架圈线和镜片之间的空隙中,也可以隐藏在连接两个镜片的梁之后。
如图4所示,在另一实施例中,两个镜片借助所设计的用来跨梁传输数据的无线光学连接予以同步。在这个实施例中,红外光学收发机单元401借助柔性电路402系到每个适配器202上,所述柔性电路402可以隐藏在眼镜架上方的圈线和经磨边的电活性眼镜镜片201之间。所述收发机单元优选是定位在使每个圈线上方的垂直距离达到最佳以允许红外收发机之间的光通信不受妨碍的位置。在用该适配器时,需要额外的加工步骤,仅仅为了举例,在该加工步骤,一个或多个狭槽、凹槽,或凹口403被加工到镜片主体中,使得在所述收发机单元和眼镜之间制成坚固物理连接。此外,这样的加工步骤会允许收发机单元被安装到镜片的前表面或后表面。
如图5所示,在另一实施例中,两个镜片借助无线射频(RF)通信系统予以同步。在此实施例中,电子适配器202包含用于RF收发机的电路,该RF收发机系到柔性电路天线501上(仅仅是举例)。此柔性电路天线可以隐藏在眼镜架圈线和经磨边的眼镜镜片201之间。
如图6所示,在另一实施例,两个镜片借助电感耦合予以同步。在此实施例中,电子适配器202包含用于脉冲电流源的电路,所述脉冲电流源被系于用柔性电路601(仅仅是举例)所做的电导体的多匝线圈上。这些柔性电路线圈可以隐藏在眼镜架圈线和经磨边的眼镜镜片之间。在此方法中,镜片1的线圈中的电流脉冲产生磁场,按法拉第感应定律该磁场在镜片2的线圈中产生电流,所述电流于是被镜片2的电子适配器的电路检测到。以这样的方式使得两个镜片之间的通信得以实现。
在另一实施例中,两个镜片借助在自由空间上传输的超声波信号予以同步。在此实施例中,电子适配器包含用于超声波收发机的电路。这样的方法的优点在于不需要额外的组件系到电子适配器上。
在再一实施例中,两个镜片可借助通过眼镜架传输的振动予以同步。在此实施例中,电子适配器包含振动换能器(transducer)和检测器,当组装镜片、适配器和眼镜架时,所述检测器与镜架保持物理接触。仅仅为了举例,振动换能器和检测器可由压电材料制造。这样的方法的优点在于不需要额外的组件被系在电子适配器上。
为了简化任何上述实施例,可以仅一个镜片装配一个或多个调焦传感器和一个同步发射机,而另一个镜片不包括任何调焦传感器且仅包括同步接收机。在这样的实施例中,具有(一个或多个)调焦传感器的镜片会作为“主”而操作,而另一个镜片则作为“从”而操作且仅在主指挥时才操作。这样的单向(one-way)通信系统可以减少能量消耗(通过除去同步发射机和调焦传感器)并且简化了同步,但这是以除去冗余的调焦传感器为代价的。
虽然上面示出和描述的特定实施例将证明在本发明所属的眼镜领域和电活性镜片领域的许多应用中是有用的,但是对于本领域技术人员而言将会想到进一步的改进。所有这样的改进都被认为在由所附权利要求限定的本发明的范围和精神之内。

Claims (13)

1.一种眼镜,包括:
第一电活性镜片;
第二电活性镜片;
眼镜架,以及
适配器,
其中所述第一和第二电活性镜片中的每个均被容置在眼镜架中并且均具有第一组电接触,其中所述适配器是与所述第一和第二电活性镜片分开的元件,并且其中所述适配器具有第二组电接触,用来通过所述第一组电接触向所述第一电活性镜片提供电信号,以及
其中所述眼镜还包括操作地连接到所述适配器以用于使所述第二电活性镜片与所述第一电活性镜片同步的同步装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述用于使所述第二电活性镜片与所述第一电活性镜片同步的装置包括红外(IR)光学收发机。
3.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述用于使所述第二电活性镜片与所述第一电活性镜片同步的装置包括射频(RF)收发机。
4.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述用于使所述第二电活性镜片与所述第一电活性镜片同步的装置包括脉冲电流源。
5.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中所述同步装置还包括延伸通过所述眼镜架的柔性电路。
6.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述用于使所述第二电活性镜片与所述第一电活性镜片同步的装置包括超声波收发机。
7.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述用于使所述第二电活性镜片与所述第一电活性镜片同步的装置包括振动换能器。
8.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述第一和第二电活性镜片在基本相同的时间被激活。
9.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述适配器还包括操作地连接到所述第二组电接触的电源。
10.如权利要求9所述的眼镜,其中,所述适配器还包括连接到所述电源的手动可操作的on/off开关。
11.如权利要求10所述的眼镜,其中,所述开关包括压力开关、电容触控开关或光接近开关。
12.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述适配器还包括操作地连接到所述第二组电接触的传感器,其中所述传感器感测使用者的存在。
13.如权利要求1所述的眼镜,其中,所述适配器还包括操作地连接到所述第二组电接触的驱动器,其中所述电信号是用于产生预定的光学附加光焦度给所述电活性镜片。
