技术领域

背景技术

如果多纤光纤部件(例如,MPO部件)装设在光纤模块22中,那么较高光纤连接密度和带宽将可能在使用类似光纤部件的其它底盘12上实现。举例来说,如果多达四个(4个)十二(12)纤MPO光纤部件布置在每一光纤模块22中,且十二个(12个)光纤模块22在1-U空间中布置在底盘12中,那么底盘12将在1-U空间中支持多达五百七十六个(576个)光纤连接。如果多达四个(4个)二十四(24)纤MPO光纤部件布置在每一光纤模块22中,且十二个(12个)光纤模块22布置在底盘12中,那么底盘12将在1-U空间中支持多达一千一百五十二个(1152个)光纤连接。

继续参照图3到图6,光纤设备托盘20也可以含有延伸构件50。布线导槽52可以便利地布置在延伸构件50上以给连接到布置在光纤模块22(图3)中的光纤部件23的光纤或光纤光缆提供布线路径。光纤设备托盘20的末端上的布线导槽52’可以相对于模块轨道导槽32成角度以按照相对于光纤设备托盘20的侧面的某一角度布设光纤或光纤光缆。拉片54也可以连接到延伸构件50以提供一种允许光纤设备托盘20容易从底盘12拉出及推进底盘12中的手段。

针对1-U底盘12和光纤设备托盘20以及可以装设在光纤设备托盘20中的光纤模块22的上文公开的实施方式的背景,现在将描述光纤模块22的形状因数。光纤模块22的形状因数允许在光纤模块22的前部的某一百分比的区域内布置高密度的光纤部件23,因此针对既定类型的光纤部件23支持特定光纤连接密度和带宽。当这个光纤模块22形状因数与在1-U空间中支持多达十二个(12个)光纤模块22的能力(如上文示例性底盘12的实例所描述的)组合时,较高光纤连接密度和带宽得到支持并成为可能。

除图12的垂直构件142A、142B外的其他结构也可能用于光纤导槽,所述结构将光缆线束134固定和/或布设在模块内以抑制损坏、组织、维持弯曲半径和/或使元件容易组装。光纤导槽结构也适用于维持光纤的弯曲半径R。举例来说,图12A显示另一光纤模块22的透视俯视图,其中盖子已去除,从而显示装设在数个光纤导槽143、144内的光纤线束134,所述数个光纤导槽143、144用于固定和布设光纤线束134的光纤。任何适当形状的光纤导槽以及适当数量的光纤导槽均能够在模块中实现。此外,所述光纤导槽中的一或多个可以经成形以容纳分叉体,所述分叉体用于个别光纤过渡等的带状物。在这个实施方式中,光纤导槽143、144具有两个不同形状并具有三个不同位置。具体来说,光纤导槽143设置为L形导槽,且位于适当隔开的位置处,且光纤导槽144是与光纤导槽143隔开的J形导槽,因此,组装工可以使用光纤导槽143、144容易并快速地将光缆线束134装设到主体90的内部腔室94中。此外,光纤导槽143、144确保光纤线束134的光纤的适当弯曲半径且在装设盖子时防止光纤被夹住。光纤导槽143、144可以按照任何适当布置方案来设置,例如,与主体90一起模制或设置为独立部件。举例来说,其他布置方案可以具有固定销,所述固定销模制到主体90中以用于使用摩擦配合和/或粘结剂收纳并固定离散的光纤导槽;然而,这会增加制造复杂性。
图13说明光纤模块22的前视图,其中所述光纤模块22在前侧96中未载有光纤部件23,以进一步说明光纤模块22的形状因数。如先前所论述的,前开口126通过主体90的前侧96而布置以收纳光纤部件23。前开口126的宽度W1越大,可以布置在光纤模块22中的光纤部件23的数量越大。光纤部件23的数量越大,光纤连接越多,较多的光纤连接能够支持较高的光纤连接能力和带宽。然而,前开口126的宽度W1越大,需要在底盘12中为光纤模块22设置的区域越大。因此,在这个实施方式中,前开口126的宽度W1设计为光纤模块22的主体90的前侧96的宽度W2的至少百分之八十五(85%)。宽度W1比宽度W2的百分比越大,在不增加宽度W2的情况下,在前开口126中提供以收纳光纤部件23的区域越大。在这个实施方式中,宽度W3,即光纤模块22的总宽度可以是86.6mm,即,3.5英寸。在这个实施方式中,光纤模块22的总深度D1是113.9mm,即,4.5英寸(图12)。如先前所论述的,光纤模块22经设计以使得四个(4个)光纤模块22可以布置在底盘12中的光纤设备托盘20中的1-U宽度空间中。在这个实施方式中,底盘12的宽度经设计以容纳1-U空间宽度。
在三个(3个)光纤设备托盘20布置在底盘12的1-U高度中的情况下,可以在既定1-U空间中支持总计十二个(12个)光纤模块22。如图1的底盘12所示,支持每光纤模块22多达十二个(12个)光纤连接等于底盘12在底盘12中的1-U空间中支持多达一百四十四个(144个)光纤连接或七十二个(72个)双向通道(即,在1-U空间中,十二个(12个)光纤连接乘以十二个(12个)光纤模块22)。因此,底盘12能够通过在光纤模块22中布置十二个(12个)单联光纤适配器或六个(6个)双联光纤适配器而在1-U空间中支持多达一百四十四个(144个)光纤连接。支持每光纤模块22多达十个(10个)光纤连接等于底盘12在底盘12中的1-U空间中支持一百二十个(120个)光纤连接或六十个(60个)双向通道(即,在1-U空间中,十个(10个)光纤连接乘以十二个(12个)光纤模块22)。因此,底盘12也能够通过在光纤模块22中布置十个(10个)单联光纤适配器或五个(5个)双联光纤适配器而在1-U空间中支持多达一百二十个(120个)光纤连接。
本文中所公开的底盘12和光纤模块22的这个实施方式可以在1-U空间内支持某一光纤连接密度,其中,光纤部件23在1-U空间中的十二个(12个)光纤模块22中占据的区域等于1-U空间中的全部光纤设备机架14区域的至少百分之五十(50%)(参见图1)。在十二个(12个)光纤模块22提供在底盘12中的1-U空间中的情况下,1-U空间包含占据光纤模块22的前侧96的区域的至少百分之七十五(75%)的光纤部件23。
提供一个(1个)传输/接收对的两个(2个)双联光纤可以在半双工模式中实现每秒十(10)千兆位的数据速率或在全双工模式中实现每秒二十(20)千兆位的数据速率。因此,通过上述实施方式,如果使用了十(10)千兆位收发器,那么使用至少一个双联或单联光纤部件而在1-U空间中提供至少七十二个(72个)双工传输和接收对可以在1-U空间中在半双工模式中支持至少每秒七百二十(720)千兆位的数据速率,或在1-U空间中在全双工模式中支持至少每秒一千四百四十(1440)千兆位的数据速率。如果使用了一百(100)千兆位收发器,那么这个设置也可以分别在1-U空间中在半双工模式中支持至少每秒六百(600)千兆位的数据速率,以及在1-U空间中在全双工模式中支持至少每秒一千两百(1200)千兆位的数据速率。如果使用了四十(40)千兆位收发器,那么这个设置也可以分别在1-U空间中在半双工模式中支持至少每秒四百八十(480)千兆位的数据速率,以及在1-U空间中在全双工模式中支持至少每秒九百六十(960)千兆位的数据速率。当使用了十(10)千兆位收发器时,在1-U空间中提供至少六十个(60个)双工传输和接收对可以在1-U空间中在半双工模式中实现至少每秒六百(600)千兆位的数据速率或在1-U空间中在全双工模式中实现至少每秒一千两百(1200)千兆位的数据速率。当使用了十(10)千兆位收发器时,在1-U空间中提供至少四十九个(49个)双工传输和接收对可以在1-U空间中在半双工模式中实现至少每秒四百八十一(481)千兆位的数据速率或在1-U空间中在全双工模式中实现至少每秒九百六十二(962)千兆位的数据速率。
前开口126的宽度W1可以设计为大于光纤模块22的主体90的前侧96的宽度W2的百分之八十五(85%)。举例来说,宽度W1可以设计为介于宽度W2的百分之九十(90%)与百分之九十九(99%)之间。举例来说,宽度W1可以小于九十(90)mm。另外举例来说,宽度W1可以小于八十五(85)mm或小于八十(80)mm。举例来说,宽度W1可以是八十三(83)mm,且宽度W2可以是八十五(85)mm,宽度W1比宽度W2的比率是97.6%。在这个实例中,前开口126可以在宽度W1中支持十二个(12个)光纤连接,以支持前开口126的宽度W1的每7.0mm至少一个光纤连接的光纤连接密度。此外,光纤模块22的前开口126可以在宽度W1中支持十二个(12个)光纤连接,以支持前开口126的宽度W1的每6.9mm至少一个光纤连接的光纤连接密度。

先前描述的托盘导槽58用于底盘262中以在托盘导槽58中支持光纤设备托盘20的托盘轨道56且允许每一光纤设备托盘20独立地从底盘262延伸出及缩回到底盘262中。前门264附接到底盘262并经设置以闭合底盘262,从而紧固底盘262中所含的光纤设备托盘20。盖子266也附接到底盘262以紧固光纤设备托盘20。然而,在底盘262中,可以提供多达十二个(12个)光纤设备托盘20。然而,每1-U空间的光纤连接密度和连接带宽仍然相同。光纤连接密度和连接带宽能力先前已描述且同样适用于图25的底盘4262,且因此,此处将不再进行描述。

主体,所述主体界定布置在前侧与后侧之间的内部腔室;和
前开口,所述前开口在所述前侧中沿着纵轴而布置且经设置以支持至少十二个(12个)光纤连接;
