Abstract

图2A示出根据一个实施例的磁盘驱动器,其包含磁盘16;磁头18,磁头18包含激光器20(图2B),其经配置以在向磁盘16写入时加热磁盘16;以及至少一个传输线22,该传输线22将激光器驱动器24与激光器20(图2C)耦合。磁盘驱动器进一步包含控制电路26,其经配置以通过提供脉冲给激光器驱动器24而向磁盘16写入数据,其中传输线22包含阻抗,该阻抗使得激光器20(图2D)输出目标脉冲形状。
图2B的实施例中示出的磁头18包含合适的写元件28,例如感应线圈,其用于向磁盘16写入数据,和合适的读元件30,例如磁阻元件,其用于从磁盘16读取数据。当在写/读操作期间访问磁盘16时,在读取记录在磁盘16(例如,同心伺服扇区)上的伺服数据时,控制电路26处理从读元件30发出的读信号32,并解调伺服数据,以生成位置误差信号(PES),该位置误差信号表示磁头的实际位置和相对于目标磁道的目标位置之间的误差。控制电路26使用合适的补偿滤波器对PES滤波,以生成施加到音圈电机(VCM)36的控制信号34,所述音圈电机绕枢轴旋转致动器臂38,以在减小PES的方向上径向致动磁盘16上方的磁头18。伺服数据可以包含任何合适的磁头位置信息,例如用于粗定位的磁道地址和用于精细定位的伺服脉冲。伺服脉冲可以包含任何合适的图案,例如基于幅度的伺服图案或基于相位的伺服图案(图1)。
图2B的实施例中可以采用任何合适的激光器20,例如激光器二极管。此外,磁头18可以包含任何合适的附加光学组件,其与激光器20关联,例如用于将激光器20发射的激光聚焦到磁盘表面的波导和近场换能器(NFT)。在其中一个实施例中,图2C中的激光器驱动器24调节通过传输线22施加到激光器20的功率,例如通过调整施加到激光器20的电流或电压,其中激光器20输出的光功率部分由施加到激光器20的输入功率确定。在图2D的实施例中,使用合适的占空比提供脉冲给激光器驱动器24,这可以提供多种好处,例如减少的NTF加热,改善的热梯度(可以改善信噪比(SNR)),减少的平均激光器功率(可以增加激光器的寿命),改善的激光器稳定性等。在其中一个实施例中,图2D中所示的激光器20输出的光功率的脉冲形状取决于施加到激光器20的控制信号的幅度和占空比,以及传输线22的阻抗。
在其中一个实施例中,传输线22的阻抗基于提供脉冲给激光器20时流过激光器20的电流的幅度。例如,当高幅度脉冲施加到激光器20时,它可以增加流过激光器的产生的电流,从而减小激光器的阻抗。对于施加到激光器20的输入脉冲的给定幅度和占空比,由于传输线阻抗和激光器阻抗之间的较高比率,传输线阻抗的减小增加了激光器20的输出功率。
图4示出当施加输入电压脉冲39时,对于传输线22的不同阻抗值,激光器20生成光功率的不同输出脉冲形状。最小的输出脉冲40对应于大于40欧姆的传输线阻抗(例如,常规传输线可以包含50欧姆的阻抗)。这个较小输出脉冲不能提供对磁盘表面的充足加热,并因此会降低产生的读信号的SNR。输出脉冲可以通过增加施加到激光器20的输入功率(例如通过增加图2D中示出的输入脉冲的幅度和/或占空比)而增加。然而,由于它会增加功率电路系统的成本以及降低便携式应用中的电池寿命,因此增加施加到激光器20的输入功率可能是不理想的。因此,在其中一个实施例中,激光器20的输出脉冲可以通过减小传输线22的阻抗被增加,而无需调整输入脉冲。再次参考图4,对于输入脉冲的相同幅度和占空比,最大输出脉冲42对应于近似匹配激光器20的阻抗的传输线阻抗。然而,这个较大输出脉冲可以产生太多光功率,这会引起磁头18的至少一个组件的加热退化,例如激光器二极管或NFT,和/或它可以引起加热磁盘16的激光器光的过大斑点,这限制了数据磁道的最小宽度。此外,如图4所示,较小的输出脉冲可以具有小于更大的输出脉冲的宽度,这可以增加磁盘的热梯度,因此能够获得更高的面记录密度。因此,在图3中示出的其中一个实施例中,传输线22可以经过制造以包含小于40欧姆但至少比激光器20的阻抗大10%的阻抗。这可以获得图4中示出的最优输出脉冲44,这可以获得任何期望的性能益处,例如增加激光器组件的寿命、改善激光器稳定性、改善SNR、增加磁道密度、增加线性比特密度等。

在其中一个实施例(例如图3中示出的)中,激光器驱动器24可以包含的阻抗基本上等于传输线22阻抗,这可以改善性能和降低成本,例如,通过降低激光器驱动器24生成的所需输出功率以获得施加到激光器20的期望输入功率。基本上使激光器驱动器24的阻抗与传输线22的阻抗匹配,也可以通过减少反射和/或寄生振荡而改善性能。
在图2D的实施例中,激光器驱动器24可以以任何合适的频率被提供脉冲。在其中一个实施例中,激光器驱动器24可以以数据写入磁盘的数据速率被提供脉冲。也就是说,在其中一个实施例中,可以存在每比特单元周期一个脉冲。在其他实施例中,激光器驱动器24可以以更高或更低频率被提供脉冲。此外,激光器驱动器24可以使用任何合适的占空比(包括小于50%和大于50%的占空比)被提供脉冲。

Claims (28)
1.一种磁盘驱动器,其包含:
磁盘;
磁头,其包含激光器,所述激光器经配置以在向所述磁盘写入时加热所述磁盘;
至少一个传输线,其将激光器驱动器与所述激光器耦合;和
控制电路,其经配置以通过提供脉冲给所述激光器驱动器而将数据写入所述磁盘,其中所述传输线包含阻抗,所述阻抗使得所述激光器输出的光功率成目标脉冲形状。
2.根据权利要求1所述的磁盘驱动器,其中所述传输线的所述阻抗小于40欧姆。
3.根据权利要求2所述的磁盘驱动器,其中所述传输线的所述阻抗至少比所述激光器的阻抗大10%。
4.根据权利要求1所述的磁盘驱动器,其中所述传输线的所述阻抗基于提供脉冲给所述激光器时流过所述激光器的电流的幅度。

所述激光器经配置以在向所述磁盘写入数据时加热所述磁盘;以及
