Abstract

Description

本发明一般地说涉及消息通信系统,诸如电子邮递系统,更具体地说,是涉及改进的X.400电子邮递通信系统;后者用于在X.400终端装置和袖珍选择呼叫接收器之间传送信息。
通信系统,如寻呼系统,通常把消息从发送装置传送到一或多个目的地装置。这些消息可包括给目的装置用户的数字或字母数字信息。目的地装置,如选择呼叫接收器或寻呼机,通常通过在显示器上显示收到的信息来把该信息提供给用户。
通常,寻呼系统经一寻呼通信信道把消息传送给一或多个选择呼叫接收器。此寻呼通信信道一般有有限的带宽,从而在特定时间间隔内只允许有限量的信息经寻呼通信信道传送。因此,为了有效利用寻呼通信信道资源,希望使消息尽量地短。
在今日的活跃而机动的生活方式中,市场中的一个显著趋势,是顾客希望在他们忙碌时能收到更长的消息。另外,随着CCITT    X.400标准电子邮递传送系统的国信标准的发展,在过去几年中电子邮递传送系统有了很大进展,X.400电子邮递标准使不同通信系统在把电子邮递传送给用户时能相互接口。
但遗憾的是,CCITT    X.400标准不仅对发送装置而且对目的地装置(如电子邮递接收装置)均提出了要求。具体地,标准电子邮递消息包通常要求大量的标题信息,而后者不适于经有限带宽的寻呼通信信道传输。另外,该电子邮递标准要求目的地装置能经X.400接口回答发送装置并包括大量标题信息和找到回答消息的目的地装置所需的路径信息。此外,该电子邮递标准要求消息被传递到目的地装置或带有该消息未被传送的通知被送回发送装置。因而,市场需要在克服上述通信系统的局限的同时,向袖珍选择呼叫接收器提供更长的消息,如在CCITT    X.400电子邮递标准中所能得到的。
根据本发明的一个实施例,提供了一种电子邮递传送系统,它包括用于把电子邮递消息从发装置传送到目的地装置的电子邮递网络;该电子邮递消息包括用于识别进行电子邮递消息通信的发送和目的地装置的网络地址,并包括消息数据。一寻呼终端与电子邮递网络相连,以接收电子邮递消息。寻呼终端包括存储装置用于存储接收到的包含电子邮递消息的发送装置的别名(alias)标志,以及编码装置用于编码包含消息数据和接收的电子邮递消息的别名,电子邮递消息发送到至少一个选择呼叫接收器消息编码装置。一个寻呼发送装置在一寻呼通信信道上发送编码消息,且至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器可在该寻呼通信信道上接收发送的消息。该至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器能把所接收消息的消息数据提供给该至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器的用户。另外,该至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器也可经寻呼叫终端发送一回答消息到电子邮递网络的发送装置。
图1是根据本发明最佳实施例的通信系统的框图。
图2是存储器框图,显示了根据本发明的最佳实施例的消息数据的基本构成。
图3是根据本发明最佳实施例的消息框图,显示了用于图1的通信系统的回答消息。
图4和5是根据本发明最佳实施例的流程图,显示了用于图1的中央终端的动行过程。
图1显示了根据本发明最佳实施例的通信系统100,它利用寻呼发送系统120、122、124、126,把消息传送到至少一个袖珍远程单元,如袖珍选择呼叫接收器130。中央终端102包括输入部分110和112;该部分110和112用于接收来自若干不同装置104、106、108的输入,包括接收用于启动由寻呼发送系统120、122、124、126发送到至少一个袖珍远程单元130的寻呼的寻呼请求。中央终端102有输入部分110,输入部分110与诸如公共切换电话网(PSTN)107的电话公司设备相接口。个人计算机和其他计算装置104,可利用拨号电话线和调制解调通信,经PSTN访问输入部分110。其他呼叫装置,如电话输入装置106,可经PSTN访问中央终端102的输入部分110。一般,这些输入装置104和106,可通过PSTN107的拨号电话线呼叫中央终端102的输入部分,经中央终端102在远处启动寻呼请求。
或者,中央终端102的其它输入部分112,也可接收来自本地(local)计算接口108(诸如与本地个人计算机、控制台、或其他终端设备相接口)的输入,如寻呼请求。另外,至X.400网络113的接口109(如-X.400入口)也可处理中央终端114的输入部分112与X.400网络113上的一个或多个发送装置之间的消息传送。一般,一或多个本地计算接口108,经采用标准RS-232、RS-422接口或其他已知接口技术的直接线路连接,与中央终端102的输入部分112相连。
输入部分110、112把寻呼请求经通信总线116送到控制器114。控制器114可包括控制器电路及相应的存储器,以便接受呼入的寻呼请求并存储在可用的存储器中,以备随后向一或多个选择呼叫接收器130的发送。
控制器114使用一个非易失存储装置118,如后备电池的RAM、一或多个盘驱动单元、或其他非易失存储介质,用于更长期地存储待发往一或多个选择呼叫接收器130的消息。控制器114一般经总线116把消息信息和其他有关信息连到存储装置118。包含数字、字母数字或二进制信息及其他有关的信息的消息信息,可被存在存储装置118中并由控制器114用于监视正发向远程单元130的消息。该消息信息还可由控制器114用来提供一个手段,以经中央终端102把回答消息从远程单元130传回X.400网络113上的一个或多个X.400发送装置,如下面所要详述的。
另外,一定时模块128向控制器114提供时间信息。该时间信息,如信息的日期和时间,可被用于监测中央终端102正处理的消息、把时间信息与发送消息一同传给选择呼叫接收器130、及中央终端102的其他系统管理和维持功能。该时间信息还可被用于便利X.400网络与远程单元130间的X.400消息寻址,如下面所要详述的。
控制器114经总线116把消息连到寻呼编码器120,用于为经寻呼信道发送的消息进行编码。寻呼编码器120随后把编码的消息经通信通路122连到一个或多个寻呼发射机系统124、126,用于经寻呼通信信道的发送。通信信道122在本例中把消息从中央终端102定线到寻呼发射机系统124、126并经寻呼通信信道传送,以便由一或多个选择呼叫接收器130接收。包括图1所示的一般类型寻呼系统的通信系统的一般运行,在1992年8月11日颁发的美国专利第5,138,311号中有充分的描述;该专利题为“Communication    System    Having    Adaptable    Message    Infonmation    Formats”,并被转让给了本发明的受让人并在此被引为对比文献。
选择呼叫接收器130最好包含寻呼接收器134;后者接收通过天线132发送经寻呼通信信道传送的消息。图1所示的一般类型的寻呼接收器134的一般运行是已知的,并在美国专利4,518,961号中有更充分的描述;该专利于1985年5月21日颁发且题为”Uni-versal    Paging    Dcvice    With    Power    Conservation”,并被让给了本发明的受让人、并在此被引作对比文献。
寻呼接收器134经总线138把收到的消息连到控制器136。控制器136解码收到消息,以把收到的消息中的地址信息与选择呼叫接收器130中的预定地址相比较。以此方式,控制器136可确定收到的消息是否发给该特定选择呼叫接收器130的。另外,存储器140经总线138与寻呼接收器134和控制器136相连,以把收到的消息存入存储器140。用户可操纵远程单元130的用户的输入装置141(如按钮或开关),以在一显示器上(如液晶显示器,未示出)显示收到的消息的消息数据。用户即可阅读显示在显示器上的消息。远程单元130上的用户输入还可使远程单元130执行其他功能,如选择呼叫接收器和袖珍个人计算装置的用户所熟知的。
一实时时钟142也经总线138与控制器136相连,以向其提供时间信息。远程单元130随后向用户提供时间信息作为显示器(未示出)上的显示信息的一部分。另外,控制器136可把实时时钟142提供的时间信息用于选择呼叫接收器130中的其他有用操作。
此外,选择呼接收器130包括调制解调发送单元和调制解调接收单元144及相关的是电话接口电路或其他适当的通信装置(如包(packet)无线电调制解调器),后者使选择呼叫接收器130的用户能把选择呼叫接收器130连到一电话接口150,如可由选择呼叫接收器130处的RJ11插头148和相联的引线146及相应的壁插孔150及其相联的引线152提供。此电话接口144、146、148、150、152,使选择呼叫接收器130的控制器136能在远处经拨号电话线路的PSTN    107操纵中央终端102。在中央终端102,调制解调发送单元和调制解调接收单元111能与选择呼叫接收器130中的调制解调器144通信。以此方式,选择呼叫接收器130可与中央终端102通信,并可选择地经其把回答消息传入X.400网络113,以用于一或多个X.400终端装置。因此,选择呼叫接收器130可经包括寻呼通信信道的第一通路122从中央终端102接收消息,并可经第二通路152通过中央终端102把回答消息传入X.400网络。第一通路122的通信介质最好是一寻呼通信信道,而第二通路122的通信介质最好包括拨号电话线路接口152和PSTN107。
经寻呼通信信道把消息传送到远程单元130的优点,是在为大量用户群服务时,通常可经寻呼通信信道传送大量的中心型消息。此外,选择呼叫接收器130通常是袖珍装置,使用户群移动性较大,同时通过经寻呼通信信道接收发送的消息保持稳定的通信。这些显著的优点增强了通信系统100的商业能力。另外,中央终端102在提供上述优点的同时,还可经寻呼通信信道122把来自X.400网络113中的X.400发送装置的X.400消息传送到远程单元130。通信系统100的这个及其他方面将在下面讨论。
图2显示了中央终端存储器118中的消息数据库202,它用于监视经中央终端102传送的X.400电子邮递消息,并用于经中央终端102回答来自远程单元的消息,并经X.400网络113送回发送装置。消息数据库202,为由通信系统100中的用户地址识别的每个用户保持。用户地址一般位于终端存储器118的用户数据库(未示出)中,以把消息送到远程单元130。另一方面,消息数据库202使中央终端102能监视正送往远程单元130的X.400消息并同时使中央终端102能回答来自该远程单元信息请求并发向X.400网络113中的发送装置。
当控制器114判定-X.400消息被请求从X.400发送装置送往一或多个远程单元130时,控制器114把一份该X.400消息的复件完整地保存在中央终端存储器118中。一消息记录204被存储在消息数据库202中,包括消息I.D.区208和时间标记区210,时间标记区210用于识别消息数据库202中的消息记录204。X.400消息信息,如发送者的I.D.212、消息本体214、及其他有关的X.400信息216,也被存在消息数据库202中的消息记录204中。类似地,如果终端102接收到其他消息,则在消息数据库202中产生更多的消息记录206,以监视经通信系统100处理的那些消息。
消息I.D.最好是较短字符串,它可识别来自X.400网络113的X.400消息的发送者。例如,消息I.D.208可包括来自X.400消息的、识别X.400消息的发送装置的姓(SN)信息。另外,控制器114访问定时模块128,以得到控制器114随后作为时间标记区210的一部分而加到消息记录204上的时间信息。消息I.D.208和时间标记210的结合,识别了消息的发送者及消息经中央终端102的具体发生,如发生时间。因此,若以同一发送装置发出了多个消息,则可由时间标记区210把它们相互区分开。以此方式,中央终端102便可监视它提供的X.400消息。另外,中央终端102把用于识别发往目的地远程单元130的消息的时间标记消息210和消息I.D.信息208同发送的消息一同发送。消息I.D.信息208和时间标记信息210一般需要20个字,以与消息一起经寻呼通信信道发送。这此发送要求超过400个字以为X.400网络113识别X.400地址的原有X.400地址信息要有效的多。因此,通信系统100在把电子邮递消息传向远程单元130时更有效地利用寻呼通信信道带宽。
如图3所示,远程单元130可经中央终端102把一回答消息302送回X.400网络113中的X.400发送装置。远程单元130可在拨号电路线路152上用调制角调通信,通过诸如公共切换电话网络107,访问中央终端102。远程单元130中的调制解调器144可与中央终端102中的调制解调器111通信。远程单元130可通过远程单元130的相关插头148和相应的引线146,与标准RJ11壁出口150相连。因此,远程130可把回答消息返回中央终端102,以传送到X.400网络113中的X.400发送装置。在回答消息302的其他息310中,包括有消息I.D.信息306和时间标记信息308,以识别消息数据库302中的消息记录204(图2)。当然,在回答消息302中也包括有回答消息信息304。
控制器114可用回答消息302中的消息I.D.306和时间标记308,在消息数据库202中检索原始消息记录204。控制器114随后可产生包括回答消息信息304和X.400发送器识别212的X.400消息,由于把回答消息经X.400网络113送到发送装置。一旦控制器114产生了包括回答消息信息304的X.400消息,它就可通过非PSTN输入部分112和接口119把X.400消息连到X.400网络113中。因此,中央终端102可把X.400消息送入X.400网络113,以送回发送装置。此此方式,远程单元130可把回答消息302送到X.400网络113中有发送装置。
图4显示了根据本发明最佳实施例的控制器114传送消息的运行程序的流程图,该程序用于把所述消息从X.400网络113传送到一或多个远程单元130。一旦控制器114从X.400网络接口109中的非PSTN输入部分112得到寻呼请求402、404步,控制器114则在用户数据库中进行检索406步,以核对在X.400消息中识别作为消息的目的的用户记录。通常,X.400将识别-X.400目的地地址,后者由控制器114通过用户数据库检索而转换成一选择呼叫接收器地址。该选择呼叫接收器地址在通信系统100中唯一地识别远程单元130。它在长度上也远短于识别X.400地址信息所需的字符数。因此,它对经寻呼通信信道的发送更为有效。控制器114在用户数据库(未示出)中进行了检索406步之后,在408步控制器114把一份X.400消息复件存储在存储器118中的消息数据库202的新记录204中。随后在410步,控制器114为发送器X.400地址产生一个别名并把别名信息与X.400消息复件一起存储在消息数据库202中的消息记录204中。该别名信息包括消息识别符208和前述时间标记信息210。然后在412步中,控制器114如前所述可把消息送到用户远程单元130,该消息还包括发送器的别名,以送器别名包括如消息别别信息208和时间标记信息210,以识别X.400发送装置以向其传送可能的回答。在412,414步发送了消息给用户远程单元130之后,控制器在114为中央终端102执行其他的功能。
图5是显示了控制器114中用于处理从远程单元130至X.400发送装置的回答消息的流程图。一旦中央终端102从远程单元130得到回答消息请求302,控制器114从回答消息302中提取出消息标志306和时间标记信息308并在用于特定的消息记录204的消息数据库202中执行检索,506步。控制器114随后在508步中从消息记录204得到X.400发送器识别信息,并准备一个X.400消息,该X.400消息包括发送到X.400发送装置传送的回答消息信息304。随后,在510步中控制器114如前所述可经X.400网络113的X.400接口109把X.400回答传送到发送装置。在送出回答510步之后,控制器114在512步可去为中央终端102执行其他功能。以此方式,远程单元130可把回答消息经中央终端102发送到X.400网络113中的X.400发送装置。
因此,如上所述,通信系统100可有效地把电子邮递消息,如X.400电子邮递消息,投送到一或多个袖珍选择呼叫接收器130。另外,各远程单元130可经中央终端102把回答消息发送X.400发送装置。利用别名信息,如消息标志和时间标记信息,通信系统100有效地利用了有限的寻呼通信信道带宽,同时使远程单元130能传送回答消息以识别X.400发送装置。另外,中央终端102在消息数据库202中包留有每一个X.400消息的副本,并可随后利用存储的信息在必要时把一状态送回X.400发送装置。即例如,中央终端102可通知X.400发送装置,X.400消息已成功投送到远程单元130或是还未传送。因此,中央终端102也可利用存在消息数据库202中的信息,通过X.400网络113回过来与X.400发送装置通信。
通信系统100的另一方面,是为用户提供确定他们的接受的经寻呼通信信道接收的最大消息长度的能。这通过限制传送的消息的大小,有效地节省了寻呼通信信道的带宽,同时也帮助用户节省了他们经通信系统100接收消息的总费用,因为用户是根据他们经寻呼通信信道发送的消长度而被累加收费的。各用户最好能在存储器118中的用户数据库中的用户记录中设定一参数。该参数设定了在经寻呼通信信道发送的任何一条消息中所能发送给用户的最大消息字符数。此阈值参数值由控制器114对经寻呼通信信道发送的每条消息进行核对。若消息字符数超过了该阈值,则中央终端102可把截断的消息送至选择呼叫接收器130,或发送一条短消息以标明现行消息对于发送来说太长了。用户随后可访问中央终端102,如通过拨号电话线路152和PSTM107,以接收长的消息。用户也可接收截断的消息,然后再决定是否访问中央终端102以便经拨号电话线路152接收完整的消息。以此方式,用户可更好地掌握们们的接收信息的费用。

Claims (7)

1、一个电子邮递传送系统,包括:
一个电子邮递网络,用于从发送装置向目的地装置传送电子邮消息,该电子邮递消息包括用于认别进行电子邮递消息通信的发送和目的地装置,并包括消息数据;
与电子邮递网络相连、用于接收电子邮递消息的寻呼端,该寻呼端包括:
存储装置,用于存储收到的包括电子邮递消息的发送装置的别名识别的电子邮递消息;以及
消息编码装置,用于对包括消息数据及消息别名的消息进行编码,以向至少一个选择呼叫接收器发送;
寻呼发送装置,用于经寻呼通信信道发送被编码的消息;
至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器,用于接收经寻呼通信信道传送的消息,该至少一个选择呼叫接收器能把至少该收到消息的消息数据提供给该至少一个选择呼叫接收器的用户。
2、如权利要求1的电子邮递传送系统,其中至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器包括用于与寻呼终端通信的第一调制解调装置,而该寻呼终端包括用于与至少一个袖珍选择呼叫接收器的第一调制解调装置通信的第二调制解调装置;
第一调制解调装置向寻呼终端发送一回答消息,而第二调制解调装置接收该回答消息,该回答消息包括消息数据和识别存在存储装置中的电子邮递消息的别名标志,且存储的电子邮递消息包括识别发送装置的网络地址;以及
寻呼终端经电子邮递网络发送电子邮递消息,该电子邮递消息包括回答消息的消息数据和发送装置的网络地址。
3、如权利要求2的电子邮递传系统,其中寻呼端包括用于提供作为时间标记而包含的别名标志中的时间信息的定时装置,且其中别名标志包括用于识别存在存储装置中的电子邮递消息的位置的消标志和时间标记,用于发送电子邮递消息,以响应接收来自至少一个选择呼叫接收器的回答消息。
4、如权利要求1的电子邮递传送系统,其中电子邮递网络使用CCITT  X.400协议与寻呼终端进行通信。
5、如权利要求1的电子邮递传送系统,其中存储装置包括用于存储包括别名标志信息的电子邮递消息的数据库。
6、如权利要求1的电子邮递传送系统,其中存储装置包括用于存储包括最大消息长度参数的用户信息的数据库,寻呼终端根据在用户信息数据库中识别的目的地选择呼叫接收器的最大消息长度参数,截取经寻呼通信信道发向该目的地选择呼叫接收器的消息长度。
7、如权利要求1的电子邮递传送系统,其中经寻呼通信信道发向至少一个选择呼叫接收器的消息数据包括二进制数据。
