本申请是以下专利申请的分案申请：申请号：96112092.4，申请日：1996年11月15日，发明名称：用于电视接收机中的使用查询工具的时间安排装置。
本发明涉及的是用于选择为在将来某日观看或录制电视节目的时间安排(scheduling)的装置，和查找节目的方法。
现代电视系统，像TV时间安排器(scheduler)，VCR(盒式磁带录像机)和卫星接收机的编程变得更为复杂，因为最近可用频道的数目显著增加，例如RCADSS直播卫星接收机提供多达150个频道可供选择。以前，用户若希望录制一个特别的非定期播放的电视节目，像一个特定的电影的播放，他需要定期查阅当地报纸上登载的电视节目时间表，希望最终能发现列在上面的该电影。

最好是主节目指南在所有转发器用电视节目视频和音频数据发射，并周期性地例如每2秒钟重复。一旦接收到主节目指南，它便被保存在接收机的一个存储器单元中，并周期性地例如以每30分钟更新。保存主节目指南允许即时选择电视节目，因为必要的选择数据总是可用的。如果在使用主节目指南数据选择一个电视节目后要丢弃它，则在可以选择任何另外的电视节目之前在获取一个新的节目指南时，至少有两秒的时延。
一旦调谐到带有所要的电视节目的频道转发器后，则可以通过对数据包检验合适的SCID(服务分量标识)12位码而从转发器接收的数据流中选择包含该节目的音频和视频信息的数据包。如果当前接收到的数据包的SCID与在节目指南中列出的所要的电视节目的SCID相匹配，则该数据包被传送至接收机中适当的数据处理部分。如果一个特定的数据包的SCID与在节目指南中列出的所要的电视节目的SCID不匹配，则丢弃该数据包。
下面简要叙述适合于实施上述发明的系统硬件。在图4中，发射机400T处理从信号源401(例如一个电视信号源)来的数据信号并把它发射到一个卫星400S，该卫星接收并转发这一信号到接收天线400A，它放大该信号到接收机400R。发射机400T包括一个编码器410T，一个调制器(即调制/前向误差校正器(FEC))420T，和一个上行链路单元430T。编码器410T根据事先规定的标准例如MPEG压缩和编码从信号源来的信号。MPEG是由国际标准化组织的运动图象专家组为编码描述存储在数字存储介质上的运动图象和相关的声音而开发的一个国际标准。从单元410T来的编码信号被供给调制器/前向误差校正器(FEC)420T，它编码该带有误差校正数据的信号，并四相移相键控(QPSK)调制该编码信号到载波。
上行链路单元430T发射该压缩和编码过的信号到卫星400S，它播放该信号到一个选择的地理接收区域。从卫星400S来的信号由联接到所谓的顶置式接收机400R(即一个安放在电视接收机上部的接口装置)的输入端的天线碟400A接收。接收机400R包括一个解调器(解调器/前向误差校正器(FEC)解码器)410R以解调该信号并解码误差校正数据；一个IR(红外)接收器412以接收IR遥控命令；一个与解调器/FEC单元410R交互作用的微处理器415R；和传输单元420R以根据信号内容，即音频或视频信息，传输信号到在单元400R内的适合的解码器430R。一个NTSC(国家电视标准委员会)编码器440R编码已解码的信号为适合于在标准NTSC制式家用VCR402和标准NTSC制式家用电视接收机403中的信号处理电路使用的格式。微处理器(或微控制器，或微计算机)415R接收从遥控器450R来的红外(IR)控制信号，并把控制信息通过一个IR链路418R发送到VCR402。微处理器415R还产生给用户显示交互语句或确认语句所需要的屏幕上显示(OSD)信号。微处理器415R还接收和判读光标键x和y位置，以便控制屏幕上显示(on-screen display)中的用户选择事项的高亮显示。
图5表示一个检索请求表，它可以作为一个显示屏幕显示。在本发明的这一实施例中可以有三种动作。首先，如同上面指出的，可以通过编程在下次播放时不需用户进一步的参与而录制一个节目。第二，如同上面指出的，可以在屏幕上显示一个提示消息，表示所希望的节目已经找到。第三，可以准备和显示列出各种满足检索判据和最近的将来播放(例如后三个小时)的节目的报告。在图5的例子中，用户请求了在影片“STAR TREK”的一集在任何时间出现在节目指南上给用户以提醒。该用户请求了如果下次在节目指南上发现电影“THE SHINI NG(阳光)”时将其录下来。该用户还请求了当词“ROBOT(机器人)”出现在节目指南或在指南节目说明中时要提示他。这些指令将被运行，直到该用户取消它们。剩下的检索(即现在的电影，戏剧)是一个表示该用户希望知道哪一个戏剧正在最近的将来播放(即，在三个小时之内)的请求。该控制器将准备一个列出所有频道上在后几个小时内要播放的故事片的报告。做完这个后，这一入口被自动删除。进一步还可想见，用户还可以检查和编辑或删除检索项，以便修改正在进行的检索。
图6表示用于输入检索数据的一个“虚拟键盘”的屏幕显示。可编程四个称为“看门狗(watchdogs)”的“检索查询程序(SearchGophers)”来同时执行对节目指南和辅助信息数据流的检索。使用光标和选择键，用户可以“按”一个位于屏幕左侧的“看门狗”键选择它。然后他可以使用字母键输入他的检索请求。(虽然未明显表示，但是可想见对字母数字键也可)。当用户对他的检索请求的文字满意时，他可以按存储(Save)键为该看门狗检索过程保存他的检索项。如果他输入有错，他可以用清除键删除误差。
该查询(Gopher)程序是在图7的步骤700进入的。在步骤705，检索该检索项。在步骤710，得到节目指南数据。在步骤715进行比较确定是否匹配。如果不匹配，则程序在步骤720退出。如果匹配，则取出用户输入的指令。在步骤725进行检查判定是否输入一个记录指令，如果有，则该例程前进到步骤730，此处记录命令或者立即或在后来合适的时间传送到VCR。然后该例程在步骤735退出。然而如果未输入记录命令，则该例程前进到步骤740，此处产生一个提示消息，或者立即显示或者在后来一个合适的时间作为在所希望的节目播放之前“最后一分钟的提示”显示，或者两者都做。然后该例程在步骤735退出。
采用本发明的查找节目的方法，允许用户输入数字字母的检索判据，在一方面解决能够进行“高级”检索的问题，这种检索跨越多于一个类别。即，人们可以检索具有特定演员和在特定主题范围内的节目。
虽然本发明是参考一个卫星电视系统说明的，但是它同样可应用于地基的电视广播系统，无论是数字的还是模拟的。

Claims (8)

1.一种用于查找节目的方法，包括：
显示节目指南；
响应于用户输入的按照文字(textual)的字符串，产生一检索判据；
响应于所述检索判据，检索所述节目指南，以查找满足所述检索判据的节目；和
给所述用户指示满足所述检索判据的所述节目。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法，其中所述判据包括两个链接在一起的分别的检索判据。
3.如权利要求2所述的方法，其中所述分别的检索判据用“与”，“或”，“非”逻辑算符之一链接在一起。
4.如权利要求3所述的方法，其中所述分别的检索判据与节目的片名、影星、导演、概论、主题、或剧情有关。
5.如权利要求4所述的方法，其中将所述节目指南显示为网格格式，包括在一个轴上的频道信息和在另一个轴上的时间信息，所述格式中的每一个网格都代表在一相应频道上要播放的一相应节目和由所述相应轴指示的一相应时间段。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法，其中所述指示步骤用所述节目指南指示满足所述检索判据的所述节目。
7.如权利要求6所述的方法，其中所述方法还包括步骤：与所述节目指南同时显示所述检索判据。
8.一种用于查找节目的方法，包括：
显示节目指南；
产生包括两个链接在一起的分别的检索判据的串列检索判据；
响应于所述串列检索判据，检索所述节目指南，以查找满足所述串列检索判据的节目；和
用所述节目指南指示满足所述串列检索判据的所述节目。
