用于在路径34上分配数据的数据分配技术取决于被分配信息的类型。例如，可以使用带外调制器在带外频道上分配文本和图形。虽然可以在路径56上使用一条或多条数字频道更有效地分配大量的视频信息，但也可以以此方式传送视频信息。这类数字频道也可用于分配文本和图形。

每个机顶盒34通常连至一个可选的录像机36以便将所选电视节目录象。每个录像机36连至一个电视机38。为将节目录象，在机顶盒34上实施的交互电视节目导视将机顶盒34调谐至特定频道，并且使用例如红外发射器40将控制信号发送至录像机36，红外发送器40控制录像机36在合适时间开始和停止录象。
在使用节目导视期间，可以在电视机38上显示电视节目清单、广告和其他信息。每个机顶盒34、录像机36和电视机38可由一个或多个远程控制器42或任何其他合适用户输入接口例如无线键盘、鼠标、轨迹球、键的专门组合等来控制。典型的远程控制器42具有用于在节目导视屏幕上定位一个增亮区的光标键或者用于在屏幕上选择增亮项目的选择按钮。其他典型远程控制按钮包括录象按钮、上选频道和下选频道按钮、音量控制按钮、数字键等按钮。
通信路径34最好具有足够带宽以使电视分配设备28能够向用户电视设备32分配电视节目编排、节目清单信息、广告和其他信息。可以通过通信路径34向用户电视设备32提供多个电视和视频节目频道(模拟的，数字的或模拟、数字两者都有)。如果需要，可以由与电视分配设备28分开的一个或多个分配设备使用至少部分地与通信路径34分开的通信路径来分配一定数据，例如节目清单数据。
某些功能例如记费节目的购买、产品或服务的购买和数据采集功能可能要求用户电视设备32通过通信路径34发送数据至电视分配设备28。如果需要，可以通过电话线或其他单独的通信路径来发送这类数据。如果使用与电视分配设备28分开的设备来提供这些功能，则可以直接使用分开的设备来进行某些涉及用户电视设备32的通信。
交互电视节目导视的用户可以交互地订购附加信息、产品或服务。例如，用户可以通过选择在节目导视上显示的广告而订购。这些订购可由实现设备44和46来实现。如果需要，可以直接通过线路48将订购命令发送至实现设备例如实现设备44，线路48可以是电话线、因特网或其他合适通信线路。也可通过线路34发送订购命令至电视分配设备28，其中可以使用电视分配设备的记费系统。在电视分配设备28处理用户订购命令之后，电视分配设备可以通过线路50发送订购命令至实现设备46。

如果需要，可以在用户电视设备32上实施与节目导视应用98或完全分开或部分分开的一个或多个监视器96、100、102和104。如果需要也可以将广告接收监视器全部地或部分地包括入节目导视应用98。图4的布置只是阐述性的。如果需要也可以使用任何其他合适的监视器布置。例如，通常不需要布置这三个广告监视器(即监视器92、94和96)，而一个或两个这类监视器即可能已足够。

Claims (118)

1．一种其中用户使用在用户电视设备中实施的交互电视节目导视来显示广告的系统，包括：
用于在具有交互电视节目导视的用户电视设备上显示广告的装置；及
用于采集交互电视节目导视中关于广告用途的信息的装置。
2．权利要求1中定义的系统，其中用于采集关于广告用途的信息的装置还包括用于采集关于广告显示次数的信息的装置。
