背景技术
目前,用于对眼部组织进行照明的照明系统采用的是钨灯、放电器或荧光灯。这些光源发出大量的热。必须通过在这些设施上增加冷却扇来排除这些热量。此外,由于钨灯和荧光灯将大部分的输入功率转化成热量,所以需要大功率的电源来启动这些灯。而增加的冷却扇和大功率的电源增加了照明系统的成本。
一个钨灯光源的寿命大约为50小时并且产生极亮和极热的光线。
眼外科医生进行前段(anterior segment)和后段手术。通常,眼外科医生将专长于仅做前段手术或仅做后段手术。一般地,由于组织上的变化和手术的深度,眼外科医生对照明系统提供的灯光颜色有着不同的偏好。进行前段手术的眼外科医生趋向于偏爱发出黄-红色光的照明系统,而进行后段手术的眼外科医生则趋向于偏爱发出白-兰色光的照明系统。
为了适应这些不同的偏好,已经设计出提供相当多的滤光器来改变光源的颜色输出。这样,在照明系统的光源附近必须选择和安装一个或多个滤光器。但是,照明系统之间的初始颜色输出是有变化的。一个钨灯光源可能输出一个未滤波的光,其在颜色上稍稍不同于另一个由同一制造商提供的钨灯光源。这样,在相同的滤光器被安装在第二照明系统中时,对第一照明系统的正确滤光选择可能不会实现相似的结果。因此,在不进行某些实验的条件下,滤光器的选择可能不能实现所需的颜色输出。
发明概述
本发明即是针对上述问题而开发出来的。本发明是一个可变的多色LED(发光二极管)眼科照明系统,该系统可以控制光输出的颜色和亮度变化。作为附加的好处,由于LED的高效而产生了非常少的热量。此外,LED更加可靠。一个钨灯光源将持续工作大约50个小时。但是,一个LED光源具有大约20,000个小时的寿命。由于本发明照明系统的配置,使得对光输出的颜色控制能够被严格地控制。另外,本发明能够控制光输出的颜色以产生更黄的光或更兰的光或更红的光。这种控制消除了根据过程从多个光源以及从多个滤光器中进行选择的必要。此外,与现有技术中的眼科照明系统相比,本发明还提供了热量更低的输出。

最佳实施例的详细描述
参照以相同的附图标记表示相同元件的附图,图1中的10表示本发明的眼科照明系统。本发明的眼科照明系统包括用户接口12,控制器14,电源16,第一功率放大器20,第二功率放大器22,第三功率放大器24,第一发光二极管(LED)30,第二LED 32,第三LED 34,混合设备40和引出光波导(exit lightguide)42。最好如图1所示的那样,但不是必需的是还包括第一聚光镜50,第二聚光镜52和第三聚光镜54。最好第一LED 30为兰色LED,第二LED 32为绿色LED,而第三LED 34为红色LED。但是,其它的LED颜色也是可以想到的,例如兰,黄或红。通常需要具有不同发出波长的三个LED或光源。利用三个以上的LED或三种以上的波长也是可以想到的。
在操作中,一个用户向用户接口12输入所需的光亮度和/或颜色。根据所要求的光亮度和/或颜色,控制器14确定每个LED的适当功率电平和放电器增益。确定生成一个所需颜色输出所需要的色率和亮度属于公知技术。兰色、绿色和红色光源是与用于在电视机中产生颜色的颜色光源相同的颜色光源。对颜色的测量和分析的额外论述提供于光电技术设计及应用手册(1997)的pp.H52-H60中,并且在此将其全文作为参考文献。此外,确定生成一个所需颜色输出所需要的色率和亮度作为一个CEI标准而被提供,如在此引为参考文献的ASTM E308-95中“利用CIE系统计算物体颜色的标准惯例”所述。
在确定了适当的色率和亮度之后,控制器14向电源16发送动力(power)信号,向第一功率放大器20发送第一增益信号,向第二功率放大器22发送第二增益信号,向第三功率放大器24发送第三增益信号。
结果,第一LED 30,第二LED 32和第三LED 34发光。最好但不是必须的是,来自第一LED 30的光通过第一聚光镜50聚光;来自第二LED 32的光通过第二聚光镜52聚光;而来自第三LED 34的光通过第三聚光镜54聚光。聚光镜通常用在电信系统中并且随处可得。聚光镜可以采用多种形式,包括从较为粗略的单元件浇铸塑料器件到精确的多元件非球面组合部件。聚光镜的主要作用是对每个LED发出的散射光聚焦。
在光射入并从聚光镜50,52和54射出之后,光射入混合设备40。混合设备40是任何能够将来自多个光源的光进行混合的设备,并且其在光波导领域中属于公知技术。混合设备40的例子包括玻璃棒,两叉或三叉光缆,积分球等。
在从混合设备40射出后,光进入引出光波导42。然后引出光波导42被插入眼组织44中以为外科手术过程提供照明。
与钨灯光源的50个小时的使用寿命不同,本发明的照明系统预期的使用寿命近似为20,000个小时。因此,由于使用寿命的延长,本发明提供了比钨灯光源更高的可靠性;与钨灯光源相比,本发明产生了更少的热量,并且通过向用户接口输入一个颜色输出选择,本发明提供了在眼科照明系统中选择颜色输出的能力。
从上面的说明中,可以看出实现和达到了本发明的几个优点。
所选择和描述的实施例只是为了更好地解释本发明的原理及其实际应用,从而使所属技术领域的其它技术人员能够更好地在不同的实施例中使用本发明并利用各种不同的改进来适应特定的使用目的。
由于在不偏离本发明范围的前提下,可以对上述结构和方法进行各种改进,这意味着包含在前面所描述的内容或附图中所示的内容只是用于解释而非限制。例如,可以除去聚光镜而使LED 32,34和36发出的光直接射入混合设备40。
另外,混合设备40可以同时对来自LED 32,34和36的光进行聚光而无须使用单个的聚光镜元件50,52和54。因此,本发明的涵盖宽度和范围不应受限于上述任何实施例,而是应当依据后附的 书来限定。

Claims (10)

1.一种眼科照明系统,包括:
第一发光二极管;
第二发光二极管;
第三发光二极管;
其中所述每个二极管发出不同波长的光,使得从所述第一、第二和第三二极管中发出至少三种波长不同的光以对眼组织进行照明。
2.一种眼科照明系统,包括:
第一发光二极管;
第二发光二极管;
第三发光二极管;
混合设备,用于将从所述第一、第二和第三发光二极管中发出的光混合在一起;以及
与所述混合设备进行光通信的引出光波导,所述引出光波导适于插入眼组织中。
3.如权利要求2所述的眼科照明系统,其中所述第一发光二极管发出兰色光,所述第二发光二极管发出绿色光,而所述第三发光二极管发出红色光。
4.如权利要求2所述的眼科照明系统,其中所述第一发光二极管发出兰色光,所述第二发光二极管发出黄色光,而所述第三发光二极管发出红色光。
5.如权利要求2所述的眼科照明系统,还包括:
第一聚光镜,用于与所述第一发光二极管和所述混合设备进行光通信;
第二聚光镜,用于与所述第二发光二极管和所述混合设备进行光通信;以及
第三聚光镜,用于与所述第三发光二极管和所述混合设备进行光通信。
6.如权利要求2所述的眼科照明系统,还包括:
用户接口,用于允许用户输入一个所需的颜色输出;
与所述用户接口相连的控制器,用于确定应当从每个所述发光二极管中发出多少光以生成所需的颜色输出;
与所述第一发光二极管相连的第一增益放大器;
与所述第二发光二极管相连的第二增益放大器;
与所述第三发光二极管相连的第三增益放大器;
与所述第一增益放大器、所述第二增益放大器和所述第三增益放大器相连的所述控制器;以及
其中所述控制器向所述第一增益放大器发送一个第一增益信号,向所述第二增益放大器发送一个第二增益信号,向所述第三增益放大器发送一个第三增益信号,以调整每个所述发光二极管的输出,以便生成所需的颜色输出。
7.一种对眼部组织进行照明的方法,包括:
提供一个用于输入所需颜色输出的用户接口;
提供第一LED,第二LED,和第三LED;
提供与所述第一、第二和第三LED进行光通信的混合设备,该混合设备用于混合每个LED发出的光;
提供一个与所述混合设备进行光通信、用于照明眼部组织的引出光波导;以及
其中向所述用户接口输入所需的颜色输出导致从所述引出光波导输出颜色。
8.如权利要求7所述的照明眼部组织的方法,还包括:
提供第一增益放大器,使其一个输出端与所述第一LED相连并与所述控制器相连;
提供第二增益放大器,使其一个输出端与所述第二LED相连并与所述控制器相连;以及
提供第三增益放大器,使其一个输出端与所述第三LED相连并与所述控制器相连。
9.如权利要求7所述的照明眼部组织的方法,还包括:
提供与所述第一LED和所述混合设备进行光通信的第一聚光镜;
提供与所述第二LED和所述混合设备进行光通信的第二聚光镜;以及
提供与所述第三LED和所述混合设备进行光通信的第三聚光镜。
10.一种照明眼部组织的方法,包括:
向眼科照明系统中的用户接口输入一个所需的颜色输出;
通过眼科照明系统自动生成所需的颜色输出以照明眼部组织。
