技术领域
本发明一般涉及媒体播放器系统。
背景技术
已经介绍了诸如数字音乐播放器和多媒体播放器的媒体播放器。这些播放器中的某些允许用户在由用户操作的主机的控制下在播放器和主机之间传送媒体,其中播放器和主机可能是联网的。这样,在网络上可用的媒体标题,能方便地传送到媒体播放器。

发明内容

在另一优选非限制的实施例中,主机能周期性地轮询播放器以确定播放器状态。最好,主机轮询播放器在播放器处于工作模式时比在播放器处于节能模式时更加频繁。播放器也许不能起动与主机的通信。
另一方面,一种用于将至少一个媒体流提供给媒体播放器的方法包括将数据存储盘与媒介设备接合以建立接合并检测该接合。使用主机,使接合的指示显示在媒体播放器上。该方法也包括在媒体播放器上操纵单按钮一次,以在主机的控制下使盘上的媒体流发送到媒体播放器。

具体实施方式
首先参考图1所示系统,通常指定为10,包括便携式媒体播放器12,如音乐播放器,例如索尼Walkman,或其它具有数据存储能力的多媒体播放器,如索尼Memory Stick,用于存储数字化记录的歌曲等。媒体播放器12还包括播放设备,该播放设备读取在数据存储器上的电子存储流,并根据本领域中已知的媒体流播放原理(例如在索尼Walkman中所体现的)将流转换为可听声音。媒体播放器12可以是CD播放器。
媒体播放器12可包括处理器14和显示器16,如LCD显示器,但不同于个人电脑,当进行下面讨论的媒体管理操作时,处理器14不在显示器16上产生图形用户界面(GUI)。通过“GUI”或“UI”意味着实际的图形单元为使用显示器控制所需的,不同于数据单元,如媒体标题,可用基本GUI(underlying GUI)显示。在一个不太优选的实施例中,不需要提供显示器,只有下面描述的LED来指示状态。
媒体播放器12也可包含用户输入设备18,例如(但不限于)按钮和/或转点通。在一个优选非限制实施例中,媒体播放器12包括可戴在人的腰带上的机壳,以及通过线连接到机壳的头戴耳机,显示器16和输入设备18(以按钮和转点通形式)附在头戴耳机线上,尽管如果需要,播放器12的所有组件都可安装在一个外壳上。如果需要,为便于立刻露出,可在播放器12的戴腰带部位上提供诸如LED 20(示出3个)的非图形指示器。

图1还示出了一个或多个网络设备28,可直接也可通过因特网20连接到主机22。如果需要,网络设备28可直接连接到播放器12。网络设备28可以是(非限制)能接收例如在其上记录了音乐或其它声音的CD-ROM的CD和DVD播放器,以及其它计算机。一个网络设备28可以是因特网可接入的或其它形式可接入的电子音乐分布服务器。
现在参考图2,可看到本发明的总体逻辑。在块32处开始,建立主机22与播放器12之间的通信。在某些实施例中,播放器12不能起动通信,所以在块32处主机22起动链接。
移动到块34处,主机22中的控制软件26将GUI下载到媒体播放器12,用于在显示器16上显示。GUI可以(非限制)指示并支持操作,该操作可由主机22响应用户在播放器12上的输入而执行,也提供必要的控制装置,该控制装置能使用户发布命令以使主机22执行操作。
总之,播放器12的处理器14不必产生GUI,甚至不必知道它如何运行。这使得播放器12非常健壮,因为只通过适当地对主机22进行程序设计就能提供附加功能,而不必修改相对简单且便宜的播放器12。
在块36处,通过协同GUI适当地操纵播放器12上的输入设备18所产生的用户命令,由主机22接收。这些命令表示用户管理需求,例如,将来自网络上的一个设备的流(如CD播放器网络设备28的全部或部分内容)拷贝到另一个(如播放器12)的命令。命令也能指示更新播放器的显示,以允许用户通过菜单导航。在块38处,来自播放器12的命令由主机22执行。

Claims (10)

至少一个主机(22);
至少一个媒体播放器(12),该媒体播放器(12)包括显示器(16)和至少一个输入设备(18),所述媒体播放器(12)与所述主机(22)通信;以及
在所述主机(22)中的至少一个软件实现的控制模块,并在所述播放器(12)上再现用户界面(UI),其中
