Abstract

Description

串行通信HVAC系统
技术领域
本发明涉及加热、通风和空气调节(HVAC)系统,其中多个相互连接的设备通过通信总线互相传送控制信号。
背景技术
HVCA系统正变得日益复杂。由于这些系统的复杂度增加以及控制的复杂化,所以在系统元件和控制器之间被硬连线的导线的数量也增加。作为一个例子,传统住宅的HVAC系统在房屋的墙上具有温度调节装置,该温度调节装置允许用户设置所期望的操作模式和温度。典型地也存在室内设备(煤气炉或加热器/风扇)和室外设备(空气调节器或热泵)。即使该简单的系统也说明上面提及的问题。
HVAC系统根据简单的控制协议来运行。基于用户所期望的温度调节装置上的设置、和实际的室温,将命令信号发送给室内和/或室外设备以执行加热、冷却或风扇功能。在大多数当前系统中,这些功能中的每一个需要专用线以在温度调节装置和相应的设备之间运行。温度调节装置在导线上接通24伏交流信号以命令设备开启所期望的功能,并且去除24伏交流信号以关断该功能。
一些系统已将此协议扩展为包括附加的导线,该导线用于将来自一个设备的故障信息运送回给温度调节装置并向HVAC系统的用户显示故障信息。由于住宅系统变得更加复杂,多个加热和冷却级变得普通。此外,传统的协议已被扩展为包括用于每个设备级的附加的导线。新的功能、比如控制湿度也正被集成到温度调节装置中。此外,每个功能典型地需要它自己的导线。
作为例子,当前由本申请的受让人制造的一种温度调节装置包括连接多至11根线的能力。所述线中的两根提供24伏电源,并且所述线中的两根延长至室外空气温度传感器。其余七根线控制室内和室外HVAC设备中的不同功能。作为一个例子,需要分开的线来开启室内设备并且在不同速度或级之间移动它。这11根线不包括如上所提及的“反馈”或状态信息中的任何一个。为提供这种反馈将需要更多的线。如可理解的,这导致很复杂的安装,因为11根线中的每一根必须连接在温度调节装置上的正确位置处。七根控制线中的每一根提供单个控制功能。当导线的数量增加时,安装复杂度和错误布线的可能性也增加。结合这个问题,设备的每一种组合(风扇或暖气炉,AC或热泵,一级或多级,湿度调节器或者没有湿度调节器,等等)具有不同的布线安排。所有这些对于经验较少的室内HVAC安装者来说可能是挑战性的。这可能导致差的安装,从而导致降级的性能、故障或者业务呼叫。
在许多现有住宅中,上述挑战是复杂的,因为在安装时仅有4根线穿过墙到温度调节装置。使用额外的线以升级功能可能是困难或不可能的。
一些系统已包括稍微更复杂的控制。作为一个例子,本申请的受让人改进了温度调节装置控制器,该温度调节装置控制器通过两条控制线将多个控制信号传送到主控制面板。然而,主控制面板仍旧与室内和/或室外设备硬连线。同样地,在不适当的导线数量方面仍然存在上面所述的问题。
因此,解决上述问题并允许简单的系统升级的简化系统将是理想的。
发明内容
在本发明的所公开的实施例中,至少一个温度调节装置和室内设备具有电子控制器。来自这些设备的控制器通过四根导线通信,其中控制信号在所述导线中的两根上被发送,并且电源在其它两根导线上被提供。无限数量的不同控制信号可通过两根控制导线被发送。此外,外围控制器、诸如区域增湿器、远程访问模块等等也可具有如上所述通过四线总线通信的控制器。所公开的系统将微处理器用于控制器。
所公开的控制信号的传送实际上是串行的,并且允许实际上无限的信息流通过系统。如所公开的,温度调节装置提供中央控制并启动所有的通信,并向相应的设备控制器发送所有的系统命令。
室内设备可以设置有能够向现有室外设备提供信息的控制器和比如湿度调节器的根据传统的硬连线协议运行的外围设备,并且不具有内置通信能力(即专用的微处理器)。具有专用的控制器的外围设备也可以具有与其它硬连线的外围设备对接的能力。同样地,在其最宽的范围内,本发明包括温度调节装置中的中央控制器,其中温度调节装置能接收用户所期望的设置,并通过两根导线将多个不同的控制信号传送给室内设备。控制信号通过通信总线被直接传送到控制室内设备的微处理器。

具体实施方式
图1是基本HVAC系统20的简化的图示,该基本HVAC系统20包括本发明的串行通信并且结合如已知的具有用户输入设置24的温度调节装置22。微处理器26被结合到温度调节装置22内。微处理器26既是总线主控又是系统主控,因为如下面将要描述的那样温度控制器微处理器26启动不同设备之间的所有通信。此外,再次如下面将要说明的,微处理器26向相应的设备发出所有命令。微处理器26基于用户设置以及它从相应的设备接收回的其它信息作出这些命令决定。通常,由微处理器26作出的控制决定如本领域中公知的那样。本发明涉及这些信号如何在微处理器26和相关设备之间被传送。
四根导线28A-28D提供数据总线29以连通微处理器26和位于诸如燃烧炉控制器或风扇/加热器控制器的室内设备处的微处理器32。如所示出的,其它外围设备可通过室内设备30处的微处理器32连通,并反向连通到温度调节装置22处的微处理器26。外围设备的一个例子将是湿度调节器44,该湿度调节器可能不具有它自己的微处理器控制器。
示出外围设备40、例如具有微处理器42的增湿器控制模块与数据总线29连通,然后通过四根导线43A-D连通到微处理器26。导线43A-D与导线28A-D连接,如已知的,例如连接在路由或连接盒31处。
湿度调节器44被示出为现有类型的外围设备,该外围设备将被硬连线以与微处理器32连通,然后通过数据总线29(导线28A-28D)被连通至微处理器26。微处理器26又将对湿度调节器44反向发送控制信号。微处理器32设置有允许它基于从微处理器26接收的信号控制硬连接的湿度调节器的控制功能。替代地,并且一般随着HVAC系统的进一步改进,通过相同的四线数据总线29控制的湿度调节器可以被改进并被结合到系统中。此外,微处理器26于是将完全起作用以控制湿度调节器44处的新的微处理器。
数据总线(29,31)是这样连线的,以致导线中的两根、比如C和D携带源于室内设备30的24伏交流电源以使系统中的所有其它控制器通电。另外两根导线A和B被用于全系统的通信和控制。
同样地,正如已知的,温度调节装置设置有室温传感器,并且可选地可能设置有湿度传感器、以及数字显示器。同样地,在所传送的信息中可以是标识码,以致微处理器26能够识别报告设备、状态和故障信息、以及通常由这种设备向系统控制器提供的标准反馈。如可理解的,在系统内传送的信号配备有代码或标识符,以致这些信号可以被正确路由和识别。用于实现此目的的协议是已知的。
由于这些设备都按照相同的简单的接线方案、导线A-D来连接,所以对安装者来说正确地安装各种设备是相对容易的。而且,由于仅需四根导线,所以消除了上面提到的关于将更复杂的HVAC系统结合到仅有四根通向温度调节装置的现有结构中的问题。
另一组导线34A-34D将微处理器32与室外设备36及其微处理器38相连通。如上所述,室内设备30处的微处理器32也能够控制硬连线的室外设备。
当用户将所期望的环境条件输入到温度调节装置22处的控制器24中时,微处理器26将适当的控制信号通过数据总线29发送给室内设备30和“外围设备”(例如增湿器控制器40)。该信号可以从室内设备30被串行地发送至室外设备36和“外围设备”44。
图1示出可在本发明范围内的基本布置。而图2示出本发明提供各种选择的能力。
如图2中所示,温度调节装置24通过数据总线29与室内设备30通信。如果室内设备30是风扇线圈或控制器,电加热器50可以与室内设备30硬连线。风扇线圈控制器可操作用于控制电加热器。作为风扇线圈控制器和电加热器之间的接口的一个例子,参见2003年12月19日提交的序列号为No.10/707,524、题目为“Identification of Electric Heater Capacity”的共同未决的美国专利申请。这个申请的全部公开内容在此被引入作为参考。如已知的,风扇线圈和加热器也可提供冷却。
数据总线34可以将室内设备30处的微处理器32与室外设备36上的控制器38相连通。此外,由室内设备30处的微处理器32控制的硬连线的“无声”湿度调节器可与微处理器32连接。如上面所公开的,室外设备36也可以由微处理器32控制。
如同样在图2中所示,远程传感器52可以直接与温度调节装置24通信。将此远程传感器52连接至温度调节装置24的数据总线53可以例如在接线盒等处连接到数据总线29上。当希望房间内有温度传感器时,这种远程传感器可在相同的房间内被用作温度调节装置,但是将温度调节装置隐藏在诸如储藏室等等内。如进一步示出的,室外设备60可以通过数据总线61直接与从数据总线29分支出的数据总线59相连接。适当的结点或连接件31连接总线59和数据总线29,以及连接总线61和总线59。当室外设备具有其自己的微处理器控制器、但是由于许多原因而希望将室外设备直接、而不是通过室内设备30连线到总线59中(例如如果在建筑物内室内和室外设备彼此远离)时可以使用这种连接。
如所示的,增湿器控制模块40具有微处理器42并且可以提供用于“无声”通风机62的控制功能。此外,增湿器控制模块40处的微处理器42设置有用于控制“无声”通风机的控制指令。如所示的,在通风机和增湿器控制模块40内的微处理器42之间优选地是硬连线的连接。如已知的,增湿器控制模块接收控制信号并且打开或关闭增湿器以控制进入建筑物内各个房间的气流。
当然,其它增湿器控制模块、比如64可以通过数据总线65简单地直接连接到数据总线59上。
智能传感器66可以包括微处理器67并通过数据总线65连接到数据总线59上。此外,在利用数据总线65中的每一根的情况下,可以使用一些结点31来连通两根数据总线。
也可将访问模块68通过其自己的数据总线69连接到数据总线59中。如已知的,访问模块允许远程访问HVAC系统。当然,正如本领域中的普通技术人员将理解的,任一数据总线61、65、69也可以直接、而不是通过分支数据总线59与数据总线29连接。
另一个特征提供设计的附加的自由度。接口模块54基本上可以包括微处理器控制器53以与“无声”室外设备、通风机等通信。基本上,接口模块54微处理器53设置有对一个或多个“无声”设备(56、58)的控制。接口模块54通过数据总线55与数据总线59通信。
与每个设备相关的微处理器都设置有内置软件,以与温度调节装置微处理器26反向连通,以及解释来自微处理器26的指令并按该指令行动。此外,所有的这种控制都可以是如本领域中公知的那样。控制信号如何被传送是有新颖性的。而且,尽管公开了微处理器,但可使用其它类型的能够执行所公开的功能的控制器。
虽然示出了四根导线A-D,但应理解的是本发明可以通过其它排列来提供。作为一个例子,控制功能可以由具有用于提供控制通信的内部和外部导线的同轴线路提供。为了这种应用的目的,这种同轴线路将提供四根导线中的两根。并且,虽然在温度调节装置中公开了中央控制器,但该中央控制器也可以是单独的控制器,或者在其它部件处、例如在室内设备上。
尽管已经公开了本发明的优选实施例,但本领域的普通技术人员应识别到,某些修改将在本发明的范围内。由于该原因,下述的权利要求应被研究以确定本发明的真正的范围和内容。

Claims (22)

1、一种HVAC系统,包括:
包含中央控制器、和操作者输入开关的温度调节装置;
将控制信号从所述中央控制器传送至室内HVAC设备的数据总线,所述室内HVAC设备可操作用于为环境内的空气提供加热功能,所述室内HVAC设备设置有控制器,该控制器直接控制所述室内HVAC设备,并且该控制器在所述数据总线上从所述中央控制器接收控制信号。
2、如权利要求1所述的HVAC系统,其中室外HVAC设备设置有其自己的控制器,并且所述室外HVAC设备控制器通过所述数据总线与所述中央控制器通信。
3、如权利要求1所述的HVAC系统,其中至少一个外围HVAC设备包括其自己的控制器,并且通过所述室内HVAC设备控制器通信以向所述中央控制器提供控制信号和提供来自所述中央控制器的控制信号。
4、如权利要求1所述的HVAC系统,其中四根导线将所述室内HVAC设备控制器连通至所述中央控制器,其中所述导线中的两根导线传送电源,以及所述导线中的两根导线传送所述控制信号,其中在传送控制信号的所述两根导线上发送多个不同的信号。
5、如权利要求1所述的HVAC系统,其中至少一个外围设备与所述室内HVAC设备控制器硬连线,并且所述室内HVAC设备控制器被设计成包括用于所述至少一个外围设备的控制信息。
6、如权利要求1所述的HVAC系统,其中接口模块设置有控制器以从相关的HVAC设备与所述数据总线通信,该相关的HVAC设备不具有能够通过所述数据总线接收控制信号的控制器,所述接口模块与所述相关的HVAC设备硬连线,并且所述接口模块设置有用于控制所述相关的HVAC设备的控制信息。

10、一种HVAC系统,包括:

设置有四根导线的室外HVAC设备,其中两根电源导线传送电源信号,并且两根控制导线将多个不同的控制信号从所述室外HVAC设备传送到所述中央控制器,所述中央控制器向所述室外HVAC设备控制器提供控制信号以操作所述室外HVAC设备。
11、如权利要求10所述的HVAC系统,其中至少一个外围设备与所述室内设备控制器硬连线,所述室内HVAC设备控制器被设计成包括用于所述至少一个外围设备的控制信息。
12、如权利要求11所述的HVAC系统,其中至少一个外围设备是湿度调节器。
13、如权利要求10所述的HVAC系统,其中至少一个外围设备包含控制其功能的控制器,所述至少一个外围设备控制器通过四根导线与所述中央控制器通信,所述四根导线中有两根电源导线和两根将控制信号从所述中央控制器传送到所述至少一个外围设备控制器的控制导线。

18、如权利要求10所述的HVAC系统,其中接口模块设置有控制器以从相关的HVAC设备与所述数据总线通信,所述相关的HVAC设备不具有能够通过所述数据总线接收控制信号的控制器,所述接口模块与所述相关的HVAC设备硬连线,并且所述接口模块设置有用于控制所述相关的HVAC设备的控制信息。
19、如权利要求10所述的HVAC系统,其中所述中央控制器、所述室内HVAC设备控制器和所述室外HVAC设备控制器均为微处理器。
20、如权利要求10所述的HVAC系统,其中所述控制信号包括用于所述数据总线路由信息的标识符。

22、一种HVAC系统,包括:
中央控制器;
具有操作者输入开关的温度调节装置;
室内HVAC设备,可操作用于为环境内的空气提供加热功能,所述室内HVAC设备设置有直接控制所述HVAC设备的控制器;以及
数据总线,将控制信号从所述中央控制器传送到所述温度调节装置并且至少传送到所述室内HVAC设备,并且传送来自所述温度调节装置的控制信号,所述室内HVAC设备在所述数据总线上从所述中央控制器接收控制信号,并且将来自所述操作者输入开关的信号传递到所述中央控制器以产生通过所述数据总线的对所述室内HVAC设备的控制。
