Abstract
Description
The Invention relates to the field of telephony in IP-based networks, especially the Internet telephony, that is the phone calls over the Internet using so-called voice over IP techniques. she relates to a method that makes it possible to establish a call connection using an IP-based network to locate the caller.
Out different reasons and for Different purposes may be required especially for the recipient of a telephone call be, information about the local Starting point of the connection structure, that is information about the current Whereabouts of the caller to get. This is for example for police and other emergency services essential.
In the associated EDP systems the exchange is stored, which port on which Connection was switched. This ensures that the or the numbers of a connection exactly one dedicated port in the Exchange is permanently assigned. Through this rigid assignment can in the switching systems based on the phone number of a caller the exact location of the phone used by him determined become. The exchanges are configured so that when placing an emergency call, for example to the police or the fire brigade, automatically activates the feature "Clear Ignore" and thus a possible telephone number suppression is ignored. Police, fire department and other operations centers therefore have anytime over the phone number of a caller and consequently information about the local or local starting point of a call.
The invention is therefore to provide a universal solution by means of which a caller at a over IP-based networks established connection regardless of its current location is locatable.
The The object is achieved by a method having the features of the main claim solved. Advantageous embodiments or further developments of the invention are by the subclaims given.
The proposed method allows the Locating a caller who has a call connection to a receiver via an IP-based Network builds up, independently of whether the recipient's called terminal is an IP addressable Device or a non-IP-based telecommunications terminal of a telephone network is. The localization of the caller, so the determination of his current This is made possible by the fact that in the for the login used access equipment of the IP telephony provider a database guided into which, in the course of establishing an IP-based call connection, a database entry is made, which at least the IP address of the Caller and geo information about the location of the caller contains. These Geoinformationen are from the receiver or from a suitable terminal of the talker through a Database query available. Certainly, in the practical implementation a corresponding database query and thus the query of the location of the Callers to authorized bodies remain reserved, so such Jobs, such as police, fire brigade, etc., when they call over the Landline otherwise synonymous already mentioned feature "Clear Ignore "activated becomes. However, this is more of an administrative rather than a technical one Question. If the called terminal of the receiver is a non-IP based Device so one in a conventional Telephone network integrated terminal (Landline or mobile phone), is the access to the IP address of the caller and thus to the database entry via the Call number of the call connection given in the telephone network switching gateways. The whereabouts of the Caller describing geoinformation according to the invention when logging provided by the caller of a geo information module, which the for the Called terminal or the proxy server of a local network as an integral part or affiliated unit is assigned and in the login procedure is included.
With regard to the widespread use of the GPS system, it is in the geographic information preferably GPS data. However, this is also the case in principle cartographic information or other current, the whereabouts of a caller exactly identifying information into consideration. The to the administration the database entries with the geo information and to control their retrieval at the assigned to the caller geo information module or to Control of updating database entries and their deployment for one interested and legitimate recipients serving hardware and software components in the IP telephony provider will be further in by the here introduced and synonym terms used geographic information server or geo-registrar be circumscribed.
Corresponding a practice-oriented implementation of the method according to the invention the provision of the geo information takes place in such a way that after the login of the caller by the geoinformation module automatically a login with identical login data is executed and, after successful Login of the geoinformation module, the geoinformation by the Geoinformation servers are queried by the geo information module.
In a non-IP based telephone network, it is conceivable that the geo-registrar the phone number of the for the transition into the telephone network used gateways queried only in such a case. However, it is preferred that the telephone number of the corresponding gateway, and independently of it, whether the establishment of a call connection to an IP-based terminal or not, by the geographic information server already in the course of Login to the SIP server or H.323 gatekeeper of the IP telephony provider queried and next to the IP address of the caller and the geo information in the database maintained in the access facilities of the IP telephony provider is stored.
According to a particular mobile SIP telephones or terminals corresponding functionality appropriate embodiment of the method, it is provided that in an existing online connection to the IP telephony provider by an arranged on the corresponding mobile device geo-information module in a change in location automatically updated geo-information to the database of IP Telephony providers are transmitted. This is preferably caused by a control unit or control software (firmware) belonging to the geoinformation module of the terminal. Parameters are stored in the firmware which specify the extent to which a change in location is to be followed by a corresponding update of the geoinformation in the database. In addition, if appropriate, a cyclical query of the geoinformation module for the geoinformation module of the terminal used by the caller can be carried out by the geographic information server.
