Abstract

The invention relates to a method for identification according to claim 1.

Identifications on the Internet have so far been carried out with so-called digital signatures. The instance to be identified (for example, object or person) is in possession of a digital signature, that is, a digital key with which it can clearly identify itself.

However, identification methods using digital signatures have significant disadvantages. So it is on the one hand namely complicated to come into possession of a digital signature. Digital signatures are only issued by selected providers, are to be applied for there, expire after a relatively short time, then have to be applied for again and cost a user fee each time.

Furthermore, digital signatures are usually stored on so-called smart cards, require mailing and require a special suitable reader.

If such a complicated digital signature is to be dispensed with, ultimately only the possibility remains of being personally present for identification. But this is associated with a considerable amount of time.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to propose a new identification method, which is designed much simpler and more flexible.

This object is achieved by the present invention according to the teaching of the main claim.

The digital document created by a sender in the first step is basically of any kind. It is a document that has to be signed and confirmed by a recipient. This part of the method is also particularly advantageous because, as a result, the recipient has a physical document printed on paper, for example - as if it had been sent to him by post. Thus, a special gain in speed of identification is achieved.

After transfer of the digital document to a physical document at the recipient's site, the physical document is provided with a qualifying identifier, whereby the qualifier identifier is mechanically imprinted on the physical document.

The mechanical imprint of the qualifier identifier is particularly captive and, moreover, the physical document provided with the qualifier identifier is particularly durable in terms of data security and can not be easily deleted by improper functioning of computer systems.

The mechanical embossing itself can be done, for example, by application by means of a pin, stamping, embossing or the like. As a result, the qualifier identifier is then firmly linked to the physical document.

The Qualifier Identifier itself is a distinctive feature that indicates what an object or person can do. An example of a qualifier identifier is a signature.

After providing the physical document with the qualifying identifier, the physical document is digitized at the recipient's site for remote transmission from the recipient to the sender.

The physical document is preferably scanned in and, for example, sent back to the original sender by e-mail or upload in an Internet portal. The digitization and remote transmission can also be realized by fax.

As a result, the identification method according to the invention thereby again gains in speed. On the one hand, the recipient gets into possession of the digital document faster, which should be provided with the qualificative identifier. On the other hand, the return of the physical document provided with the qualifying identifier back to the sender also takes place more quickly.

In other words, the method according to the invention thus achieves considerable speed gain in the case of both the signing and the transmissions, as well as the notification of a test result. The recipient can thus reach the action protected by the identification procedure considerably faster.

The verification of the qualifier identifier is finally carried out at the sender's place.

There, in particular, the digitized document can be checked for integrity and authenticity. It should be noted that the term sender in the present description is basically understood to be the first sender who prepares the digital document in the former step. The term receiver throughout the application refers to the recipient of the second step, who receives the digital document from the sender after the remote transmission.
