Description
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Anordnung zur optischen Detektion von Partikeln anhand von gestreutem Licht. The present invention relates to an arrangement for the optical detection of particles based on scattered light.
In the laser and scattered light-based particle detection, the particles to be measured are irradiated with light and the light scattered by the particles is collected by detectors such as photodiodes at certain angles, the signal is measured and from this the particle size is determined. The intensity of the scattered light, however, becomes smaller with d ^ 6 (Rayleigh scattering), especially in the range of particle sizes d <200 nm, which are of great health concern. H. very small particles produce only a very small signal and are thus difficult to measure. If one uses two or more angles in the light scattering in order to determine a particle size distribution therefrom (on the basis of, for example, the intensity ratios in the Mie theory), the scatter intensities can become even smaller at larger angles and a signal even more difficult to measure.
It is known to arrange a large number of light detectors as a ring to detect many spherically arranged points of a certain angular range of scattering. The individual signals are then summed up in the signal processing and used to determine a larger signal for determining the particle size. Another possibility is used in (condensation) particle counters and mobile particle meters: A mirror section, which covers a solid angle of mostly> 120 °, is used to capture as much stray light as possible and to image it onto a single detector. Angle-dependent scatter information necessary to identify the present particle is thereby lost and it is only possible to detect whether a particle is flying through the laser or not. The mode of operation thus corresponds in this case to a light barrier. It is also known to use photomultiplier tubes. Although these are very sensitive, they also have a considerable size and low speed.

Es ist Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung, eine Anordnung zur Detektion von Partikeln anzugeben, die die oben genannten Nachteile verringert. Diese Aufgabe wird durch eine Anordnung mit den Merkmalen von Anspruch 1 gelöst. Die Unteransprüche betreffen vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung. It is an object of the present invention to provide an arrangement for the detection of particles, which reduces the above-mentioned disadvantages. This object is achieved by an arrangement having the features of claim 1. The subclaims relate to advantageous embodiments of the invention.
Die erfindungsgemäße Anordnung zur Detektion von Partikeln umfasst eine Lichtquelle zur Bestrahlung der Partikel mit einem Lichtstrahl. Diese kann beispielsweise eine Laserdiode oder eine Leuchtdiode (LED) sein. The arrangement according to the invention for the detection of particles comprises a light source for irradiating the particles with a light beam. This can be for example a laser diode or a light emitting diode (LED).
Weiterhin umfasst die Anordnung wenigstens zwei Detektionseinrichtungen zur Aufnahme von an den Partikeln gestreuten Anteilen des Lichts. Als Detektionseinrichtungen können beispielsweise Photodioden verwendet werden. Die Detektionseinrichtungen können auch als einzelnes Bauelement realisiert sein, bei dem eine räumlich aufgelöste Messung erfolgen kann.Furthermore, the arrangement comprises at least two detection devices for receiving particles of the light scattered on the particles. For example, photodiodes can be used as detection devices. The detection devices can also be realized as a single component in which a spatially resolved measurement can take place.
Schließlich umfasst die Anordnung zwei Spiegel zur Fokussierung des von den Partikeln in einen Winkelbereich gestreuten Lichts auf jeweils eine der Detektionseinrichtungen. Die Spiegel werden dabei jeweils eine Öffnung auf und sind so ineinander verschachtelt angeordnet, dass unabgelenkte Teile des Lichts der Lichtquelle durch die Öffnungen der Spiegel treten. Finally, the arrangement comprises two mirrors for focusing the light scattered by the particles in an angular range onto one of the detection devices. The mirrors each have an opening and are arranged interleaved in such a way that undeflected parts of the light from the light source pass through the openings of the mirrors.
Dadurch wird vorteilhaft eine geringe Baugröße erreicht, da die Spiegel ineinander verschachtelt angeordnet sind und sich ihre Volumina somit nicht addieren. As a result, a small size is advantageously achieved, since the mirrors are arranged nested in one another and thus their volumes do not add up.
At least the larger of the mirrors is preferably designed in the form of a spherical zone, in particular in the form of a spherical cap. By spherical zone is meant the lateral surface of a spherical disk, which is cut out of a sphere by means of two parallel planes. Ball cap refers to the lateral surface of a spherical surface from which more than half of the ball is cut away by means of a plane. In particular, all mirrors have this shape.
With the spherical zones or spherical caps is achieved that the largest possible amount of scattered light is reflected for a scattering angle to a detector. At the same time, the spherical zones or caps can advantageously be arranged in a space-saving concentric manner, wherein the light can be directed to the respective detection device by tilting or laterally displacing a respective mirror. It is thus achieved with a small size still significantly increased light output compared to a solution without mirror.
Insbesondere sind dabei kleinere Spiegel innerhalb des Volumens der Kugelscheibe oder Kugelkappe angeordnet, deren Mantelfläche der größere der Spiegel darstellt. Mit anderen Worten finden sämtliche Spiegel im gedachten Volumen des größeren der Spiegel Platz. In particular, smaller mirrors are arranged within the volume of the spherical disk or spherical cap, the lateral surface of which represents the larger of the mirrors. In other words, all mirrors find their place in the imaginary volume of the larger mirror.
