Description
The invention relates to an adhesive system comprising a first reactive component, a second reactive component and a solvent. The two reactive components are designed to react with one another by a chemical reaction to form a crosslinked polymer. The solvent serves to allow the simplest possible application of an adhesive mixture produced from the adhesive system by mixing. For example, such prior art adhesive systems can be mixed and then sprayed onto a part to be bonded.
The sprayed-on adhesive layer must then first dry, in which case crosslinking of the adhesive, for example by heating, can be initiated. A firm adhesive bond is formed only by the reacting of the components and not already by the evaporation of the solvent (this is meant here and below by the word "dry"). However, for a reliable adhesive bond to be created, the solvent must be vaporized before the two components react.
To prevent the glue from getting too early, d. H. is cured before the substantially complete evaporation of the solvent, the time that is waited after the application of the adhesive for the purpose of drying the same, so generously estimated that even when unfavorable for the drying environment conditions complete drying can be ensured. Due to the waiting time, the cycle time, i. H. the time required to produce the perfect binding increased.
Even if the adhesive is designed to harden only after an initiation, for example by heating, it has been found that a reaction between the two reactive components already occurs before the initiation. Although this runs relatively slowly, but is waited too long after mixing the adhesive system has already decreased significantly by the already occurred reaction between the two components, the crosslinking ability of the adhesive system. In this case, a sufficiently reliable adhesive connection is no longer generated.
Accordingly, for adhesive systems of the prior art, a processing window in which the adhesive bond must be produced, wherein the processing window starts with sufficient drying and ends as soon as a concentration of the still reactive components has decreased too much. In particular, due to the environmental conditions not known in detail, both the beginning and the end of the processing window are not known exactly, which results in insufficient process reliability. Due to the insufficiently known beginning and end of the processing window, only a part of the processing window can actually be used for the processing of the adhesive system.
In the prior art, the problem often arises that not all the already mixed adhesive can be processed before the period ends, in which it is still known with sufficient certainty that the processing window has not yet ended. This leads to material waste, which is undesirable for cost and environmental reasons.
The object of the invention is to develop an adhesive system and an adhesive mixture that allows for a high process reliability as complete as possible use of the processing window, with a cycle time for the bonding should be as low as possible. A further object of the invention is to propose an adhesive method in which such an adhesive mixture is used, as well as a vehicle interior trim part glued with such an adhesive mixture.
This object is achieved by an adhesive system according to
The adhesive system according to the invention comprises a first reactive component, a second reactive component and a solvent. The two reactive components are designed to react with one another by a chemical reaction to form a crosslinked polymer. In contrast to the prior art, the adhesive system according to the invention has an indicator, which may be added to the first component and / or the second component and / or the solvent. The indicator is adapted to change its color depending on a concentration of the solvent. If the adhesive system is mixed and then the solvent concentration drops below a certain value (for example, after the adhesive mixture produced from the adhesive system has been applied as a layer on a surface to be bonded), a color change takes place. For example, the indicator may change its color as soon as the solvent content falls below a threshold value, the threshold being for example less than 25% (percentages are always percentages by weight in the context of the application), preferably less than 20%, and more preferably less than 15%. A color change thus indicates that the adhesive mixture has dried sufficiently (this means that the adhesive mixture has sufficiently low solvent, ie the term "drying" in the context of this application does not imply that the solvent is water) then cured. Once the color change has taken place, an area exposed to the adhesive can be brought into contact with another object to be bonded, subsequently causing or enhancing the reaction between the first reactive component and the second reactive component.
By the indicator is thus reliably determined when the solvent - this may preferably be water - is sufficiently completely evaporated from the adhesive mixture, so that the beginning of the processing window for the adhesive curing no longer by an inaccurate estimate of the completion of evaporation of the solvent , but by a defined depending on the actual solvent content time is defined.
Since the estimation of time required for drying in the prior art had to include a large safety server to ensure that the drying is completed even in unfavorable environmental conditions (if the adhesive were cured before completion of drying, a false bond would be created) the determination of the actual solvent content this safety reserve in an adhesive system according to the invention is no longer required, the available time window for processing the adhesive is increased.
For the chemical reaction between the two components, preferably only these two components are required. In particular, the solvent is preferably not involved in the reaction between the two reactive components. The solvent is therefore not at the same time one of the reactive components, d. H. Both reactive components are chemically different from the solvent.
The solvent may be mixed in the adhesive system with the first or the second component. It can also be provided that both active components are each dissolved in one part of the solvent. It is also possible that both components are each mixed with a solvent, wherein a mixed with the first component solvent is different from a mixed with the second component solvent. In this case, the indicator may be designed to change its color depending on the content of the solvent containing the greater proportion by weight of the adhesive system. For example, the first component may be mixed with water such that the mixture has a water content of about 54%, while the second component is dissolved in a mixture that has 17% propylene carbonate.
The indicator may be added to the first component, the second component and / or the solvent. If the indicator is attached to one of the two components, with the component blended with the indicator not being mixed with the solvent, the indicator may additionally be used to monitor mixing of the two components. If the adhesive system is mixed to form an adhesive mixture, the indicator then comes in contact with the solvent and changes its color accordingly. A complete mixing of the two components can then be determined by means of a uniform coloration of the mixture. However, to monitor the sufficient mixing, it is also possible for one of the two components-preferably the component which makes up a smaller proportion by weight of the adhesive system-to be admixed with a dye, in which case uniform coloring also indicates complete mixing. The first component may be, for example, a polyurethane. For example, this component can account for greater than 80%, preferably greater than 90%, of the dry weight (i.e., the weight without and without the solvents) of the adhesive system. The second component may be a polyisocyanate. For example, the second component may consist at least predominantly of an aliphatic polyisocyanate. The second component may have a weight fraction of less than 20%, preferably less than 10% by dry weight of the adhesive system. The indicator may account for less than 1% of the dry weight of the adhesive system. Preferably, the proportion of the indicator is less than 0.5%, and more preferably less than 0.2%.
For example, the first and second components may be configured to react with polyurethane. If the first component is already a polyurethane, the polyurethane formed from the reaction of the first and second components is more strongly crosslinked than the polyurethane of the first component. Due to the low price and the good resistance to aging, the use of polyurethane-based adhesives has proven particularly suitable for bonding vehicle interior trim parts.
As an indicator, which has a solvent-dependent color, can For example, a salt can be used. Suitable salts are the sulfate, for example, cobalt (II) chloride, ammonium iron (III) and CuSO. 4 The salts may be contained, for example, in a silica gel. Salified silica, useful as a moisture indicator for the adhesive system of the invention, is also known under the name "blue gel" and "orange gel".
The solvent may in particular be water or a solvent containing water. This is advantageous because water is non-toxic and therefore does not produce any toxic solvent vapors during drying. Also, the presence of water is particularly easy to detect with indicators.
In addition to an indicator of solvent content, the adhesive system may include another indicator whose color changes depending on the content of the first and / or second reactive component and / or on a reaction product formed from the first and second reactive components. On the one hand, the further indicator has the task of indicating complete curing of the adhesive during the production of the adhesive bond. In addition, the further indicator indicates when too much of the reactive components have already reacted before the adhesive dries, i. H. the solvent evaporates is. In this case, the adhesive can be discarded, thereby avoiding the use of the already unusable adhesive (which would lead to the creation of a defective bond).
As a further indicator, for example, ammonium iron (III) chloride, methyl orange, methyl red, thymol blue, Bromthymolblau, Bromcresolgrün, phenolphthalein, Alizaringelb, indigo carmine, litmus or a mixture of the aforementioned indicators can be used. Any of the prior art indicators that indicate a reaction progress of a reaction between the reactive components of the adhesive system may also be used. The choice of the further indicator is dependent on the reactive components of the adhesive system.
Also provided may be a temperature indicator by which sufficient heating to initiate the reaction between the reactive components can be verified. Preferably, the color change of the temperature indicator occurs at a temperature greater than or equal to a minimum temperature required to initiate the reaction between the reactive components. As a temperature indicator, for example, bis (diethylammonium) -Tetrachlorido-cuprate (II) and / or 9,9'-Bixanthyliden and / or 10,10'bianthronyliden can be used.
In addition to a still unmixed adhesive system, the invention also relates to the ready-mixed adhesive system, d. H. the reactive components, the solvent and the indicator may be mixed together to form a ready-to-use adhesive mixture.
Moreover, the invention relates to a method for producing an adhesive bond. In the method, an adhesive system comprising a first reactive component, a second reactive component, a solvent and an indicator is first mixed. The indicator, as described above, is a color indicator indicating a concentration of the solvent. In a subsequent process step, the adhesive mixture formed by mixing the adhesive system is applied to a surface to be bonded. Subsequently, the solvent contained in the applied adhesive mixture is evaporated. The applied adhesive mixture can form, for example, a layer. Upon evaporation of the solvent, a color change of the indicator occurs. After the appearance of the color change For example, the surface provided with the adhesive mixture is brought into contact with an object to be attached to the surface, and a crosslinking reaction of the adhesive mixture is initiated. The initiation of the reaction can be carried out, for example, by heating. Depending on the reactive components used, initiation can also be effected by irradiation, for example with UV light. By initiating the reaction, the active components of the adhesive mixture react to form a crosslinked polymer, forming an adhesive bond.
A particularly strong automation of the method for producing an adhesive bond can be achieved by carrying out the drying in a drying apparatus, for example a drying oven. The temperature in the drying apparatus is preferably lower than the temperature to which the adhesive mixture is heated to effect crosslinking after drying. The drying device may be equipped with a sensor that detects a color of the adhesive mixture. If a change in the color of the adhesive mixture is detected via the sensor, which is due to a change in color of the indicator, an object having the surface coated with the adhesive mixture can be removed from the drying device. This can for example be done automatically by means of a robot.
Furthermore, the invention comprises a vehicle interior trim part, which has at least two parts glued together. Between both parts a cross-linked layer of polyurethane is arranged. In the polyurethane matrix, a moisture indicator is embedded, which is designed to change the color depending on its water content. Such a vehicle interior trim part can be produced by a method for producing an adhesive bond of the type described, wherein the crosslinked layer of polyurethane is formed from the adhesive mixture by curing. An embodiment of the invention will be explained below with reference to FIGS.
