Description
The invention relates to a system for providing a inhalable aerosol and components of such a systems. This system is especially called smoke art Suitable for providing smoke aerosol for smokers net.
When smoking conventional cigarettes, the most of the tobacco not in the trains but in burned the train breaks. This leads to the formation of the so-called called sidestream smoke, which is often considered by non - smokers is perceived as annoying.
There are numerous new ones to overcome this problem Smoking articles have been proposed. A common prin zip of such developments is that not combustion heat the tobacco, but other energy sources for free smoke aerosol. This will largely avoid the creation of sidestream smoke the. Often come in the proposed smoking articles for aerosol formation instead of tobacco replacement materials such as spe zial foil tobacco or flavor substances suggested carrier materials for application.
For example, U.S. Patents 5,060,666, 5,067,499 and 5 099 861 cigarette-like smoking articles described in which the thermal energy of a glowing carbon element is transferred to aerosol-forming material that besides Tobacco or tobacco extract flavors and an aerosol image contains such as glycerin. Doing the combustion gases of the heating element with the smoke aerosol inhaled what to an increased absorption of carbon monoxide by the Smoker leads.
Devices are also known in which means a portion of substrate is heated to electrical energy Release smoke aerosol. Such a device that must be held in the hand and because of their size and their weight is not portable in the mouth is in that U.S. Patent 4,141,369. More cigarette-like che smoking articles in which special tobacco flavor substrates be electrically heated by means of battery power while doing so an inhalable aerosol are disclosed in the US patents 5,095,921, 5,179,666 and 5,269,327. A ciga saving for an electrically heated smoke system shows the US Patent 5,499,636. However, all of these devices are rela tiv heavy and unwieldy.
Another electrically powered smoking device is described in WO 98/17130. With an execution shape surrounds an annular array of laser diodes the substrate portion. The laser diodes are successively switched on for a short time to locally close the substrate portion warm up and thereby release aerosol. At one its embodiment is a central laser device provided whose radiation using a Lichtleitsy stems arranged one after the other in the circumferential direction Zones of the substrate portion is directed. This Rauchvor direction is relatively complex, and that for loading bite of the electrical heating energy required rie requires a relatively high weight.
From U.S. Patent 4,474,181 are smoking devices known in which nicotine and tobacco-simulating Substan zen indirectly, e.g. B. on flammable cellulose foams, he warms and inhales.
Die ses System ist jedoch relativ aufwendig konstruiert und un handlich.WO 97/48294 shows a system for providing egg nes inhalable aerosol, in which an energy source high Energy density is used without Ab Mix gases with the aerosol to be inhaled. With this System are in a hand-held ge housing a burner and a heating medium tank that contains a heating element contains tel to operate the burner. The ascending hot combustion gases flow through a heat rope shear, with which air is heated, which is then passed through a portion of substrate is drawn and the substrate portion heats up so that smoke aerosol is released. The However, this system is relatively complex and un handy.
It is an object of the invention to be light, handy and uncomplicated system for providing an inhalierba aerosols to create a reusable content Liervorrichtung contains and in particular as a smoking article can serve a taste impression similar to offers conventional cigarettes, depending on the use but no sidestream smoke is generated between the trains becomes.
This task is solved by a system with the Features of claim 1, which is an inhaler having the features of claim 22 and a substrate por tion with the features of claim 26 and a Flash device with the features of claim 24 and a mouthpiece with the features of claim 30 can point. Advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the dependent claims.
The system according to the invention for providing a inhalable aerosol has an inhalation device on a housing that holds a portion of substrate is set up. The inhaler also has one Flash lamp holder, which is set up a front number of arranged on a carrier chemical reaction based flash lamps for heating to a substrate portion inserted into the housing hold. An ignition device is set up by the Flash lamp holder to ignite held flash lamps. The system also includes a portion of substrate used to Insertion into the inhaler is set up and the inside an enclosure that has an air inlet opening and has an aerosol outlet opening, aerosol-forming Contains material.
For heating the substrate portion and thus for free Flash aerosols are used to set the aerosol mix reaction work. Under a "flash lamp" is here to understand in general a facility in which in ei closed housing through chemical reaction Energy is released. So this term is not on Facilities where the energy is in shape of visible light (such as a flash) lamp in which magnesium is burned), but detected also facilities that emit radiation in other wavelengths give areas, it is also conceivable, the substrate portion by contact with the housing of a particular To heat flash lamp. With the flash lamps stand Ener Giespeicher with high energy density available, so that construct the system according to the invention easily and handy can be. It takes to light a flash lamp no complicated ignition device, which is the structure of the Inhalation device further simplified. Because with one on egg the chemical reaction based flash lamp the Reak lead products within the flash lamp housing ben, they can not with the from the substrate portion Mix out emerging aerosol so that it is not too uncommon desired taste impairment comes. The Using several flash lamps opens up the possibility speed, different areas of the substrate portion in succession the to warm, so that the user with every train Aerosol is available whose taste suits everyone if slightly different from that on the other trains below separates.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention the system has a flash device with a number of flashlights based on chemical reactions that are arranged on a common carrier (namely preferably in an annular configuration) and a are directed towards their respective ignition radiation and / or heat towards the substrate portion admit. If the flash lamps in the preferred ringför flash configuration set up to radiate after their respective ignition and / or heat towards the central axis of the ring shaped configuration to deliver, as is in operation the substrate portion is in this area. There the flash device can have an annular housing point, on the outer surface to the individual Blitzlam Pen leading contacts are arranged and the inside area surrounding the substrate portion in the operating state. Before preferably the inner surface of the annular housing the flashing device is conically shaped so that the substrate portion can be used there, but cannot be pushed through. The Wall on the inner surface of the annular housing Flash device can be made of a good heat-conducting material stand, while preferably the annular housing Flash device between two adjacent flashes lamps a partition made of poorly heat-conducting material material. When using such a flash direction, the substrate portion is shifted one after the other the places distributed in the circumferential direction heated. The conical design of the inner surface of the annular Housing guarantees good thermal contact with one set substrate portion. The partitions inside the ring-shaped housing of the flash device ensure that after the ignition of a flash lamp the heat development essentially on the segment of the flash device remains limited, which has the ignited flash lamp, so that the substrate portion used is only heated locally, as required.
With other configurations of flash lamps, it is conceivable bar that no direct contact to the substrate portion be stands, but that the substrate portion by when igniting radiation generated by a flash lamp is heated.
Preferably, the flash lamps can be easily replaced be used when they are used up. With the mentioned Flash device with the annular housing is on particularly simple way possible when the flash lamps holder of the inhaler has a guide in which the annular housing of the flash device can be used is. The flash lamp holder has the inhaler device Ge matched to the contacts of the flash device gene contacts that are connected to the ignition device.
The ignition device of the inhalation device can be one Have accumulator or a battery. Using of flashbulbs based on a chemical reaction only a small amount of energy is required to ignite so that in this case the accumulator or the battery be small and easy despite the handy design in the Inhaler housing can.
In a preferred embodiment, the ignition device of the inhaler an electronic Control and a pressure sensor connected to it, which are set up one after the other a flash to ignite when a vacuum by pulling on the Aerosol outlet opening of the substrate portion is created. Here at the ignition device automatically ensures that at each that of the user of the system on the substrate portion exercised train flashes, so that one unused area of the substrate portion is heated, to release fresh aerosol. An alternative For example, a hand switch can be designed hen be, which ignites a flash lamp when actuated. That at the next actuation of the hand switch another Flash lamp can be addressed, for example, by a mechanical change in the connection between the Power source of the ignition device and the respective Ge contacts of the flash lamp holder can be reached.
The ignition device is preferably the inhalation device direction set up when exceeding a given limit temperature within the housing of the Inha blocking device. With this measure lets overheating of the inhaler is reliable avoid if the user ignites the ignition too often wants to trigger one after the other.
The substrate portion preferably has a cylindrical one Shape, with the covering arranged as a cylinder jacket is and the end faces of the cylinder as an air inlet opening and are set up as an aerosol outlet opening. It is the covering is preferably low-porous to air-impermeable casual to avoid sidestream smoke; she can also have a metallic foil, preferably one Aluminum foil. The aerosol-forming material of the substrate portion can be a largely inert carrier material or Ta have bak material and additional additives. Before the material also contains a higher proportion of Po lyols, which serve as aerosol formers.
Furthermore, the system can have a mouthpiece that is separately connectable to the inhaler (i.e. un can be used depending on the substrate portion) or connected to the substrate portion (i.e. one unit with the substrate portion) and in the operating state with the aerosol outlet opening of the substrate portion in connection manure stands. The mouthpiece is preferably a filter mouth piece formed, using as filter material for example Cellulose acetate, paper, myria, polypropylene or combination nations of such materials with one or more layers paper wrapping. The mouth piece can also be a substantially hollow cylindrical Have spacer element in the operating state between the aerosol outlet opening of the substrate portion and the filter material of the mouthpiece is arranged.
Die Zeichnungen zeigen inIn the following the invention is based on Ausfü Example described in more detail. The drawings show in

Fig. 2 einen schematischen Längsschnitt durch eine Aus führungsform einer Inhaliervorrichtung, in die eine Blitzein richtung und eine Substratportion eingesetzt sind, und Fig. 2 is a schematic longitudinal section through an embodiment of an inhaler, in which a Blitzein device and a portion of substrate are used, and
Fig. 3 shows a schematic cross section through the flash device from FIG. 2.
In Fig. 1, a substrate portion 1 is shown, which can be used in an inhalation device serving as a smoking device. In this embodiment of the substrate portion 1 , aerosol-forming material 2 is located within a cylindrical envelope 3 . The envelope 3 leaves the end faces of the cylinder free, so that there is an air inlet opening 4 and an aerosol outlet 5 are formed.
The aerosol-forming material 2 can, for. B. cut leaf tobacco, cut tobacco ribs, reconstituted tobacco or a carrier material treated with aroma substances. Leaf and rib cuts can also be used in expanded form. As carrier materials for flavorings, both organic materials such. B. paper or cellulose fibers, as well as inorganic materials such. B. silica gel are used. Any mixtures of the components mentioned can also be used. In the claims numerous components and components for the aerosol-forming material are mentioned, so that numerous variants are conceivable.
In order to increase the aerosol formation, the aerosol-forming material 2 preferably contains a high proportion of egg nes polyol or several polyols, for. B. glycerol and / or propylene glycol, e.g. B. when using largely inert carrier materials such as aluminum oxide, silica gel, activated carbon, cellulose fibers, lignin granules, zeolites, clays or meerschaum or combinations thereof in the range of 10 wt .-% to 50 wt .-% or even up to 60 wt .-% . When tobacco materials are used, the preferred proportion of the polyols is 10% by weight to 40% by weight. Another way of increasing aerosol formation is to use the aerosol-forming materials with a moisture which is significantly above the equilibrium moisture; so z. B. tobacco, the equilibrium moisture content is about 10% to 12% be used with a moisture content of 20%. In this case, suitable packaging must be used to ensure that there is no loss of moisture until use.
The envelope 3 can consist of paper, plastic film or metal foil. A multi-layer covering made of the components mentioned can also be used. However, a single-layer wrapping made of paper or metal-clad paper is preferred. Low-strength or almost air-impermeable cigarette paper, which preferably has a high proportion of mineral additives, is particularly advantageous. This ensures that practically no secondary smoke occurs when the substrate portion is heated and smoked.
In a preferred embodiment, the substrate portion 1 is connected to a mouthpiece 6 , as shown in FIG. 1. The manufacture of such a unit is familiar to the person skilled in the art from the manufacture of filter cigarettes. For example, the cover 3 can be connected to the mouthpiece 6 with the aid of a piece of covering paper.
In principle, all principles known to those skilled in the cigarette industry can be used for the construction of the mouthpiece 6 . In the simplest case, the mouthpiece consists of a hollow roll of paper or cardboard. Be preferred, however, the execution as a filter mouthpiece. In this case, a filter material such as cellulose acetate, poly propylene or paper is provided with a single or multi-layer coating. A design corresponding to the known multiple filters can also be used, in which several segments with different properties are arranged one behind the other in the axial direction and are connected by an outer envelope. In this case, one or more segments with axial bores can be seen. In all of the constructions mentioned, there is also the possibility of using a zone-perforated covering or a subsequent perforation of the covering, for example with the aid of a laser beam. In this way, the smoke can be diluted on the trains by adding outside air. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, there is a hollow cardboard sleeve between the aerosol-forming material 2 and the mouthpiece 6 designed as a filter, which serves as a spacer 7 .
Two further examples of configurations of the substrate portion 1 are described below.
An American blend tobacco blend with a grade of 30% Burley tobacco, 40% expanded Virginia tobacco, 20% unexpanded Virginia tobacco and 10% Orient Ta Bak was conditioned and with 12 wt .-% of an aqueous Casings sprayed with a glycerol content of 80 wt .-%. The tobacco was then cut with a 0.8 mm cutting width cut and dried to a moisture of 12%. 180 kg of this cut tobacco was expanded with 20 kg Rib cut mixed. This mixture became an endless cigarette with a Diameter of 8 mm and a plug density of 200 mg / ml prepared. A came up as wrapping material aluminum-coated, airtight on the outside Paper used. The endless strand was in single pores tions of 50 mm in length, and these were cut into known way through a tip paper with egg Acetate filter plug connected.
A paper film produced by known methods tobacco with a propylene glycol content of 12% by weight was cut with a cutting width of 0.8 mm, like in example 1 fed to a cigarette rod machine and in this wrapped with a cigarette paper, the Ci garette paper had an air permeability of 5 CU. By cutting the endless strand (10 mm diameter) portions of substrate with a respective length were obtained from 30 mm; the plug density was 240 mg / ml. About one Mouthpiece covering paper were the substrate portions each Weil with a hollow cylindrical spacer element in shape a cardboard tube and a subsequent acetate fil plug connected.
Fig. 2 shows in a schematic longitudinal section depicting how a substrate portion 1 is used in a smoking device as the inhaling device 10 .
The inhalation device 10 has a housing 12 with a housing body 14 and a housing cover 16 . The housing cover 16 can be removed from the housing body 14 to make the interior of the housing 12 accessible. To secure the housing cover 16 on the housing body 14 is used, for example, a screw thread or a bayonet lock (not shown in FIG. 2). Outwardly from the housing cover 16 a kur zer pipe extension 17 starts, the inside diameter of which is matched to the outside diameter of the substrate portion 1 and which is directed to guiding and holding the substrate portion 1 . At the housing cover 16 opposite the side of the housing body 14 there is an air opening 18 through which outside air can enter the interior of the housing 12 and through the air inlet opening 4 of the substrate portion 1 into the aerosol-forming material 2 .
The housing 12 is shown very schematically in FIG. 2. It preferably has a design that is easy to hold when the mouthpiece 6 of the substrate portion 1 is guided to the mouth of the user. Advantageous dimensions for the housing 12 are, for example, 25 mm × 55 mm × 95 mm or 20 mm × 40 mm × 85 mm. Materials with poor heat conduction are particularly suitable as the material for the housing 12 .
A flash lamp holder 20 is fastened to the housing base body 14 in the interior of the housing 12 . The flash lamp holder 20 has in the exemplary embodiment in a wesentli Chen cylindrical guide tube 22 with an end annular stop 24 . Resilient mating contacts 26 protrude from the inner surface of the guide tube 22 , the positions of which are matched to contacts of a flash device (see below). The counter contacts 26 are in the interior of the housing 12 via electrical connecting lines, which are not shown in FIG. 2, connected to an ignition device.
The flash lamp holder 20 carries in the embodiment, for example, a unit formed as a flash device 30 , which is also shown in Fig. 3 in a schematic cross-sectional view. The flash device 30 has a number of flash lamps 32 , 8 in the exemplary embodiment. The outer boundary of the flash device 30 bil det an annular housing 34 which has a substantially cylindrical outer surface 36 and a conical inner surface 38 , see Fig. 2. The shape of the inner surface 38 is matched to the dimensions of the substrate portion 1 that the sub stratportion 1 in the inner region of the annular housing 34 can be used, but cannot be pushed through, see FIG. 2. This ensures that the sub stratportion 1 lies closely against the inner surface 38 , so that good thermal contact between the inner surface 38 and the substrate portion 1 comes about.
On the outer surface 36 of the annular housing 34 , contacts 40 are arranged leading to the individual flash lamps 32 , the positions of which are matched to those of the counter contacts 26 of the flash lamp holder 20 . For each flash lamp 32 , two contacts 40 lead to the ends of an ignition wire 42 . Between two adjacent flash lamps 32 , that is, between two adjacent ignition wires 42 , there is a partition 44 , which extends from the wall of the annular housing 34 with the inner surface 38 to the wall with the outer surface 36 .
Through the partitions 44 individual Abteilun conditions 45 are defined, which form the flash lamps 32 . From each division 45 there is an ignition wire 42nd Furthermore, each section 45 is filled with a mixture of reactive chemicals, as is familiar to those skilled in the flash lamp technology art. When an ignition wire 42 is made to glow by applying a voltage to the relevant contacts 40 , a rapid exothermic chemical reaction takes place. The Reakti onpartner must be chosen so that the pressure within the department 45 does not change significantly to rule out an explosion.
The material of the inner surface 38 defining Wan extension of the annular housing 34 has in game Ausführungsbei high thermal conductivity, while the other parts of the annular housing 34 , that is, the partition walls 44 and the wall 36 defining the outer surface, consist of material with low thermal conductivity. This construction ensures that when igniting a flash lamp 32 essentially only the segment of the inner surface 38 becomes hot and transfers its heat to the substrate portion 1 used , which is located when the flash lamp 32 is ignited. If the flash lamps 32 are fired one after the other, different regions of the substrate portion 1 can thus be heated in succession in the circumferential direction in order to release aerosol from the aerosol-forming material 2 .
In order to insert the flash device 30 embodied as a unit into the housing 12 , the housing cover 16 is removed from the housing body 14 . The Blitzeinrich device 30 can then be used up to the stop 24 in the guide tube 22 . In order to enable precise positioning in the circumferential direction, guide projections 46 (see FIG. 3) are used, which engage in guide grooves 22 not shown in FIG. 2 on the guide tube 22 . After the housing cover 16 is fastened again to the housing body 14 , a portion of substrate 1 can be inserted through the tube extension 17 into the housing 12 until it is in firm heat-conducting contact with the annular housing 34 of the flash device 30 , as shown in FIG. 2 .
The components of the ignition device of the inhaler device 10 are not shown in FIG. 2 for the sake of clarity. In the exemplary embodiment, a rechargeable battery serves as the current source. The respective pair of mating contacts 26 , which is assigned to the contacts 40 of a preselected flash lamp 32 , is selected via an electronic control. A pressure sensor is connected to the electronic control. When the user pulls the aerosol outlet opening 5 of the substrate portion 1 via the mouthpiece 6 , a vacuum is created in the interior of the housing 12 , which is reported by the pressure sensor to the electronic control. The preselected flash lamp 32 is then ignited by applying a voltage to the associated mating contacts 26 . The electronic control then selects the next, still unused flash lamp 32 in the circumferential direction as the preselected flash lamp. The next time a vacuum is created in the housing 12 , that is when the user pulls the mouthpiece 6 again, this flash lamp 32 is also ignited, etc.
In the exemplary embodiment, a temperature sensor is arranged inside the housing 12 (not shown in FIG. 2) and is connected to the electronic control. As soon as the temperature in the housing 12 exceeds a predetermined limit temperature, the electronic control blocks further ignition processes in order to avoid overheating of the inhaler device 10 . The blockage is only lifted when the temperature sensor reports a temperature to the electronic control that is below the limit temperature.
The use of the system has already become clear from the preceding description: First, the user inserts a new flash device 30 and a fresh portion 1 into the inhalation device 10 . Then he can trigger the ignition of a flash lamp 32 by pulling the mouthpiece 6 of the substrate portion 1 . If he pulls again later, the next flash lamp 32 is ignited. etc. Breaks of any length can be taken between the individual trains. After all flash lamps 32 have been ignited, the flash device 30 and the substrate portion 1 are consumed and are removed from the inhaler device 10 .
