Description
The The present invention relates to the field of dispersions of inorganic Nanoparticles.
Especially The present invention relates to stable dispersions of inorganic Nanoparticles and systems containing these dispersions. Of Furthermore, the present invention relates to the stabilization of Dispersions of inorganic nanoparticles.
To improve the mechanical properties of coating and dispersion systems (such as paints, inks such as printing inks, coatings, etc.) and of plastics, especially to increase their wear properties, such as scratch resistance or the like, is the incorporation of additives and Fillers known to those skilled in principle. Here, dispersions of inorganic nanoparticles are increasingly being used. Some of these nanoparticles (eg, TiO 2 and / or ZnO) are also used to improve UV resistance.
An often associated with conventional dispersions of inorganic nanoparticles problem is the insufficient storage stability, in particular the tendency to sedimentation. This phenomenon can eventually lead to the sedimented nanoparticles agglomerate or cake together after longer storage periods and form a no longer stirrable and / or dissolvable, solid residue, so that the dispersions are finally no longer applicable. The sedimentation tendency is favored by the high densities of the inorganic nanoparticles. Inorganic nanoparticles with particularly high densities in the range of 5 g / cm 3 to 6 g / cm 3 or even more, such as. As inorganic nanoparticles based on zinc oxide, antimony / tin oxides (ATO), indium / tin oxides (ITO) or the like, show a particularly pronounced tendency for sedimentation.
Therefore It has also been tried in the art, such dispersions of inorganic nanoparticles by addition of special additives, in particular stabilizers, storable or sedimentation stable close. A decisive disadvantage of the prior art used additives or stabilizers, however, is the fact that their incorporation mostly with a disadvantageous Impairment of flowability properties or the rheological properties of the dispersions is. Often it comes to an undesirable Solidification of the dispersions stabilized in this way. from time to time but also a syneresis is observed, associated with an undesirable phase separation due to sedimentation. Such systems are then for the aforementioned applications no longer suitable.
Of the The present invention is therefore based on the object Disperse Systems of the aforementioned type, in particular dispersions of inorganic Nanoparticles provide, which are used in particular in the aforementioned systems and the previously described Avoid disadvantages of the prior art or at least weaken.
B. in Lacken, Farben, Beschichtungen, Kunststoffen etc.).Especially An object of the present invention is to provide stable or stabilized disperse systems of the aforementioned Type, in particular of dispersions of inorganic nanoparticles, which is storage-stable over longer periods of time or sedimentation stable, but the flowability properties or the rheological properties of the resulting stabilized Dispersions still readily a use to the above Intended to allow applications (eg in paints, Paints, coatings, plastics, etc.).
Zur Lösung der vorgenannten Aufgabe schlägt die vorliegende Erfindung – gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der vorliegenden Erfindung – eine stabile Dispersion von anorganischen Nanopartikeln nach Anspruch 1 vor; weitere, vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen dieses Erfindungsaspektes sind Gegenstand der betreffenden Unteransprüche.to Solution of the above object proposes the present Invention - according to a first aspect of the present invention - a stable dispersion of inorganic nanoparticles according to claim 1 before; further, advantageous Embodiments of this aspect of the invention are the subject of the relevant Dependent claims.
Another Object of the present invention - according to a second aspect of the present invention - are inventive Coating materials and coating systems, in particular paints, Paints and the like, plastics, foams, cosmetics, in particular Nail varnishes, adhesives and sealants according to claim 40 containing the dispersion of the present invention; Further, advantageous embodiments of this aspect of the invention are the subject of the relevant subclaim.
It goes without saying that in the following such embodiments and descriptions, which are made to a single aspect of the present invention, equally apply equally to the other aspects of the present invention, without any express mention.
Dies versteht sich für den Fachmann aber von selbst.at all relative or percentage weight-related Quantities should be noted that these in the context of Dispersion according to the invention by those skilled in the art they are to be selected in the sum under Inclusion of all ingredients, including additives, others Ingredients or additives, dispersants, etc., in particular as defined below, always to 100 wt .-% complete. This is understood by the skilled person but by itself.
Furthermore applies that the skilled person application-related or individual case differ from the quantities given below can, without him being the scope of the present invention leaves.
Beachtlich ist zudem, daß sich alle nachfolgenden Angaben hinsichtlich der mittleren Molmasse bzw. des mittleren Molekulargewichts auf die sogenannte gewichtsmittlere Molmasse bzw. das gewichtsmittlere Molekulargewicht beziehen.remarkable is also that all subsequent information regarding the average molecular weight or the average molecular weight the so-called weight average molecular weight or the weight average Refer to molecular weight.
The Applicant has surprisingly found that solve the problem described above, that the relevant dispersions of inorganic Nanoparticles at least one stabilizer based on a modified, in particular hydrophobically modified, preferably urea-modified Polyurethane or based on a modified urea, in particular Urea urethane, or mixtures and / or combinations thereof added.
- (i) modifizierten, insbesondere hydrophob modifizierten, vorzugsweise harnstoffmodifizierten Polyurethanen und
- (ii) modifizierten Harnstoffen, insbesondere Harnstoffurethanen,
- (i) modified, in particular hydrophobically modified, preferably urea-modified polyurethanes and
- (ii) modified ureas, in particular urea-urethanes,
A Special feature of the present invention is thus in particular to see that according to the invention a dispersion is provided by inorganic nanoparticles, which by the targeted addition of at least one stabilizer based on modified, in particular hydrophobically modified, preferably urea-modified polyurethanes and / or modified ureas, in particular urea-urethane, stabilized and thus storage-stable is. In this context, the Applicant in completely surprising Way out that by the use of such Stabilizers an extraordinarily storage-stable dispersion of inorganic nanoparticles can be provided which also - as in the following embodiments still detailed - not or not significant way to premature sedimentation of nanoparticles tends and thus also after longer storage periods is still readily usable.
Systeme mit verbesserten mechanischen Eigenschaften, wie Kratzfestigkeit oder dergleichen, und/oder einer verbesserten Beständigkeit, insbesondere UV-Beständigkeit, ausgestattet werden.there the dispersion of the invention is characterized characterized in that the stabilizers used rheological Properties or the flowability or the Viscosity of the dispersion of the invention do not negatively impact against the background of their applicability. In this context, the inventive Composition thus - in addition to their excellent storage stability or sedimentation stability - excellent Application properties based on their good rheological properties on, so they readily in the below described Systems, for example paints, paints or the like, plastics, Cosmetics or the like can be incorporated, in addition a uniform incorporation of the invention Ensures dispersion in the composition to be equipped with it is. In this way, with the inventive Disper sion equipped compositions or systems with improved mechanical properties, such as scratch resistance or the like, and / or improved durability, especially UV resistance.
B. BYK-Chemie, Deutschland), deren Herstellung dem Fachmann zudem per se bekannt ist.at the stabilizers used in the invention as such, they are commercially available products (for example, BYK-Chemie, Germany), their preparation to the person skilled in the art also known per se.
Through the specific use of special stabilizers based on modified, in particular hydrophobic modified, preferably urea-modified polyurethanes or modified ureas, in particular of urea-urethanes, even the most problematic with regard to their sedimentation nanoparticles particularly high density, such as zinc oxide or the like, can be dispersed effectively and long-term stable, so that even for such problematic nanoparticles storage-stable disperse systems can be provided.
Without To limit oneself to this theory, the Mode of action of the stabilizers used according to the invention based on modified, in particular hydrophobically modified, preferably urea-modified polyurethanes and / or modified Urea, especially urea urethanes, understood in this way be that the aforementioned stabilizers in a sense a matrix or a network in the inventive Forming dispersion, in which then the nanoparticles in a sense be stored so that they do not sediment prematurely. In this case, the Applicant found, completely surprisingly, that despite the formation of the above-described matrix or network-like structure through the rheological stabilizers Properties or the flow properties of the invention Dispersion not with regard to its application or incorporation is impaired in the systems described above.
Volatile Organic Compound(s)). Zudem sind die eingesetzten Stabilisatoren zumindest im wesentlichen frei von aufgrund ihrer ungenügenden Umweltverträglichkeit problematischen Alkylphenolethoxylaten (APEO).The used according to the invention in the context of the dispersion according to the invention Stabilizers lead - in other words - thus to excellent anti-settling properties of the dispersed inorganic Nanoparticles in the dispersion of the invention at the same time lower or with regard to the intended Use of the dispersion of the invention optimized Viscosity of the dispersion according to the invention as such. The stabilizers used according to the invention thus lead to a significant improvement in stamina and the settling behavior of the invention Dispersion and thus significantly increase their pot consistency. In this case, the stabilizers used according to the invention are especially in liquid form and are therefore light to handle. The stabilizers are also at least substantially free from volatile organic compounds (so-called VOCs or Volatile Organic Compound (s)). In addition, the used Stabilizers at least substantially free of due to their insufficient environmental impact problematic Alkyl phenol ethoxylates (APEO).
Systeme, wie Lacken, in welche die erfindungsgemäße Dispersion eingearbeitet ist.equally are the inventively used Stabilizers by at least substantially the pH independent effectiveness. The stabilizers need thus no control of the pH. There is also a temperature control not with respect to the stabilizers according to the invention required. The inventively used Stabilizers are also characterized by the fact that these an immediate effect in the production of the invention Dispersion or during incorporation into the inventive Dispersion with regard to sedimentation stabilization of the dispersion induce, so that a so-called "maturation" is not required is. Due to the strong effectiveness of the invention used Stabilizers generally require these only low Dosage with respect to the dispersion of the invention. In the intended use of the invention Dispersion affect the scope of the present Stabilizers used in the invention compared to other stabilizers of the prior art, such as natural or synthetic Silicates, acrylate thickeners, fumed silica, etc. not the water resistance of the compositions described above or Systems, such as paints, in which the inventive Dispersion is incorporated. In addition, the inventively used lead Stabilizers do not affect the gloss of the previously described compositions or systems, such as paints, in which incorporated the dispersion of the invention is.
What As far as the dispersion according to the invention is concerned, see above It has been found to be particularly advantageous in the context of the present invention when (i) the modified polyurethane is in amounts from 0.002 to 5 wt .-%, in particular 0.005 to 2 wt .-%, preferably 0.01 to 1 wt .-%, particularly preferably 0.05 to 0.75 wt .-%, completely particularly preferably 0.1 to 0.5% by weight, based on the dispersion, is added. As previously stated, may be due to individual case derogated from the abovementioned quantities, without departing from the scope of the present invention becomes.
What the amount of in the dispersion of the invention contained (ii) modified ureas, in particular urea-urethanes, As far as concerns, this can vary widely. In general, should (ii) the modified urea, especially the urea urethane, in amounts of from 0.001 to 2% by weight, in particular 0.002 to 1.5% by weight, preferably 0.01 to 1 wt .-%, particularly preferably 0.05 to 0.3 wt .-%, based to the dispersion.
According to one According to the invention particularly preferred embodiment has the dispersion of the invention as a stabilizer a combination of (i) modified polyurethane and (ii) modified Urea, in particular urea urethane, on. In this context plays also the weight-related quantitative ratio of (i) modified Polyurethanes on the one hand and (ii) modified ureas, in particular Urea urethanes, on the other hand in the inventive Dispersion in terms of their stabilization a large Role. Thus, the applicant could show that particularly good Results with regard to the stabilization of the invention Dispersion are obtained when the combination of (i) modified Polyurethanes and (ii) modified ureas, in particular urea-urethanes, in a weight ratio of (i) to (ii) of ≥ 1: 1, in particular ≥ 2: 1, preferably ≥ 3: 1, is added, especially if the combination in a weight-related Amount ratio of (i) to (ii) in the range of 10: 1 to 1: 1, in particular 7: 1 to 1.5: 1, preferably 6: 1 to 2: 1, more preferably 5: 1 to 3: 1, is added. According to an invention particularly preferred embodiment, the combination of (i) and (ii) in a weight ratio of (i) added to (ii) of about 4: 1.
Without to limit oneself to this theory leads the special binary combination of those previously described Stabilizers (i) and (ii) to a stabilization further optimized training of the network or the matrix structure in the dispersion, which by the targeted selection of the weight-related Quantity ratio of (i) to (ii) further optimized can be, so that a total of a further improved Storage stability of the invention Dispersion is possible, indicating the synergistic Interaction of the two stabilizers (i) and (ii) due is.
What the total amount of the combination of (i) modified polyurethane and (ii) modified urea, especially urea urethane, As far as the dispersion according to the invention is concerned, Thus, the dispersion may be the combination of (i) modified polyurethane and (ii) modified urea, especially urea urethane, in a total amount of 0.003 to 7% by weight, especially 0.005 to 5 wt .-%, preferably 0.01 to 3 wt .-%, more preferably 0.1 to 2 wt .-%, based on the dispersion.
According to one according to the invention preferred embodiment (i) the modified polyurethane and (ii) the modified Urea, especially the urea urethane, different from each other average molecular weights on. The corresponding surface modification by means of polysiloxane groups causes an even further increase or improvement of the Application properties of the invention Dispersions, especially when used in coating materials and coating systems be incorporated. In particular, the surface modification, preferably with polysiloxane groups, to a reduced sedimentation and tendency to gelation of the dispersions according to the invention. Also, an embrittlement of the dried or hardened Coating system efficiently counteracted. The surface modification has the further advantage that when incorporated into coating systems affects the interaction with the binder advantageous and thus opposes transparency and refractive index not surface-modified particles further improved especially as a result of the reduced refractive index difference a significantly lower light scattering occurs.

As far as the production process for the stabilized dispersion according to the invention is concerned, it is customary to prepare a non-stabilized dispersion of the relevant inorganic nanoparticles, optionally with the addition of the abovementioned additives or ingredients, in a manner known per se to the person skilled in the art. The following is then carried out, preferably with the introduction of shearing forces (for example using stirrers, mixers, dissolvers, etc.), which are before preferably homogeneous incorporation of the stabilizer or inventively provided in the inventively specified amounts. This procedure has the particular advantage that conventional or commercially available dispersions of inorganic nanoparticles can be subsequently modified if they are not completely superimposed (for example, there is no complete agglomeration of the individual particles, so that redispersion is no longer possible). For further details of the preparation of the stabilized dispersion of the invention, reference may be made to the above statements on the stabilized dispersion of the invention, which apply mutatis mutandis with respect to the manufacturing process to avoid unnecessary repetition. In addition, reference may be made in addition to the following embodiments.

Usually According to this aspect of the invention, the dispersion according to the present invention in amounts of 0.1 to 30 wt .-%, in particular 0.5 to 20 wt .-%, preferably 1 to 10 wt .-%, based on the resulting overall system.
Another Object of the present invention - according to a second aspect of the present invention - are coating materials and coating systems, in particular paints, inks and the like, plastics, Foams, cosmetics, in particular nail polishes, adhesives and Sealants, which the previously defined or described Dispersions according to the invention included.
Im allgemeinen wird auch gemäß diesem Erfindungsaspekt die Dispersion nach der vorliegenden Erfindung in Mengen von 0,1 bis 30 Gew.-%, insbesondere 0,5 bis 20 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 1 bis 10 Gew.-%, bezogen auf das resultierende Gesamtsystem, eingesetzt.in the general is also according to this aspect of the invention the dispersion of the present invention in amounts of 0.1 to 30 wt .-%, in particular 0.5 to 20 wt .-%, preferably 1 to 10 wt .-%, based on the resulting total system used.
- (i) modifizierten, insbesondere hydrophob modifizierten, vorzugsweise harnstoffmodifizierten Polyurethanen und
- (ii) modifizierten Harnstoffen, insbesondere Harnstoffurethanen,
- (i) modified, in particular hydrophobically modified, preferably urea-modified polyurethanes and
- (ii) modified ureas, in particular urea-urethanes,
In In this context, it can also be provided within the scope of the invention be a non-stable or non-stabilized dispersion of inorganic To subsequently stabilize nanoparticles in that the previously mentioned stabilizers based on urea-modified Polyurethanes and / or modified ureas, especially urea-urethanes, a manner known in the art in a known manner unstabilized dispersion can be added. This can be, for example with the introduction of shear forces, for example by stirring, in per se known apparatuses, for example a mixer, dissolver etc., to be performed.
B. Glanzverhalten, Oberflächenglätte, Adhäsionsvermögen etc.).In the context of the present invention, overall it has been possible to provide a stabilized dispersion of inorganic nanoparticles which has an excellent storage stability by the specific addition of at least one special stabilizer and which thus does not tend to premature sedimentation. In addition, the dispersions according to the invention can be excellently used in the context of their intended use, for example in coating materials and coating systems, in particular paints, inks and the like, but also in plastics, foams and Kos or incorporate metika, which leads equally to a significant improvement in product properties, for example, in terms of mechanical properties, such as scratch resistance, and the resistance, such as UV resistance. In the context of the present invention, it is also ensured that other required application properties of the systems equipped or provided with the dispersion according to the invention are not negatively influenced (eg gloss behavior, surface smoothness, adhesiveness, etc.).
Further Embodiments, modifications and variations of the present invention are for those skilled in reading the description without more recognizable and realizable without him the scope of the present invention leaves.

Anwendungsbeispiele:Application examples:
Die
vorstehend hergestellten Dispersionen wurden nachfolgend einem beschleunigten
Alterungstest zu Zwecken der Beurteilung der Lagerstabilität
bzw. Sedimentationsneigung sowie der rheologischen Eigenschaften
unterzogen.
Tabelle 1':
- Bodensatz: 1 = kein Bodensatz 5 = viel Bodensatz
- Rheologie: 1 = niedrigviskos 5 = stichfest
- * leichte Synärese
- ** vollständige Sedimentation, Synärese, keine Redispergierung möglich
- Sediment: 1 = no sediment 5 = much sediment
- Rheology: 1 = low viscosity 5 = puncture resistant
- * slight syneresis
- ** complete sedimentation, syneresis, no redispersion possible
The Table 1 'above shows that with the inventively used Stabilizers I and II a significant improvement in storage stability or a significant reduction in sedimentation tendency of reach above dispersions. One particularly good effect, which over the individual effect the respective stabilizers and thus as synergistic is to be valued by the common Use of both stabilizers achieve, whereby by purposeful selection of the quantity ratio in question an optimization of the effect can be achieved.
The Incidentally, results show that the invention used Stabilizers the rheological properties or flowability properties at least substantially unchanged or only so far change that still a proper Application is possible.
Tabelle 2':
