Abstract

The multi-channel remote control unit is esp. for domestic television and entertainment equipment. It consists of a rectangular case divided into two sections. One end section (2) contains the ultrasonic or infra-red transmitter and battery, the other section houses the operating controls, i.e. a keyboard (3). The controller is fitted with two keyboards, one on the upper side and another on the underside of the hand-held unit. The keys on one side can be of different shape or profile and a different colour from the keys on the reverse side to avoid confusion between the respective operating functions. A raised lip around the edge of the case prevents the keys on the underside being inadvertently operated when the unit is laid down on a surface. Automatic switching of the carrier frequencies can be efected via a position-dependent switch.
