Der Ersatzbrenner B wird über die Brennkopfmündung des vorhandenenBrennerkopfes A so gelagert, daß der Rand desselben auf dem Blättchen c aufliegt. Eine geringe Menge des Gasgemisches durchfließt die Austrittsöffnungen d, die Hauptmenge fließt durch die Schlitze e in den Glühkörper. Dieses Gemischerzeugt an der Mündung des Ersatzbrennerkopfes b eine senkrecht abwärts gerichtete kugelartige Flamme, während das aus den Löchern d ausströmende Gasgemisch die Erzeugung einer seitlich gerichteten, zylindrisch gestalteten Flamme bewirkt.
