Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an optical Device according to the preamble of claim 1.
In many areas of technology it becomes monochromatic or largely monochromatic radiation of high energy density needed. Lasers are often used for this purpose used; their performance can be for very short Time be enormously high. The performance over longer However, time or continuous wave performance is usually unsatisfactory low. Also providing sufficient Pump energy for the lasers used comes up Difficulties.
The object of the invention is therefore an optical device specify with the help of which light can be selected Frequency or frequency width in the desired intensity continuously or at least sufficiently high Energy can be provided.
The device should make it possible, either directly to deliver the required quality and quantity of light or indirectly the necessary pump energy for to deliver a downstream laser.
Another object of the invention is to provide the above Demands on relatively simple and cheap Way to meet. In addition, the invention is also intended without artificial light sources can work, d. H. suitable be for operation with solar or lunar energy. These tasks are performed by those specified in the claims Measures solved.

Fig. 5).In Fig. 1, 1 denotes a ring-shaped electric radiator, which is fed via the ring electrodes 3 and 4 melted in the glass cylinder 2 . The wedge shape of the radiator shown in the figure brings about a higher temperature in the outer region 5 of the radiator, so that uniform irradiation is ensured with respect to the optical device 6 . The radiator is mirrored on its rear side 7 in such a way that the desired light frequency is reflected towards the optical device 6 , but which can radiate undesired radiation, for example heat radiation, outwards through the mirror. On the side facing the optical device, the interference filter 8 is arranged, which ensures that the desired radiation reaches the optical device as purely as possible or as desired. The radiator can cooperate with reflectors 31 so that the radiation strikes the optical device in a direction that is as parallel as possible. For example, instead of the radiator shown, a ring parabolic reflector can be used, in the focal line of which a ring lamp is arranged (see FIG. 5).
The optical device 6 is held concentrically in the glass cylinder by means of the centering supports 9 . The axis of symmetry of the device 6 as of the entire system is designated 10 . The device 6 consists of a body 11 made of glass or another optical material, such as plexiglass. It is essentially designed as a tube 12 and has a sawtooth-shaped configuration of the outer surface 13 , as seen in longitudinal section. The light exit end of the tube 12 is designated 14 . The flanks 15 of the sawtooth configuration form the light entry surfaces of the optical body. These flanks form with the axis of symmetry 10 the angle α , which is chosen so that it is just about - ie about 0.01-1.0 ° - above the value of the total reflection angle of the body material used at the desired frequency. The radiation entering from the flanks - symbolized by the dashed line 16 - is then deflected into the inner boundary surface 17 of the tube 12 (angle β ). This angle now has a value that the refracted radiation is possibly totally reflected on the opposite inside of the tube (at 18 in the selected schematic representation). For this purpose, the inside of the tube can be dielectric-mirrored in a frequency-specific manner. Depending on the length of the tube, there is multiple total reflection until the radiation emerges at the end 14 . The energy of the selected energy range provided by the radiator is then concentrated at the exit point - apart from the losses which are relatively small or which can be minimized by known measures, such as interference mirroring, etc.
In Fig. 2 it is shown that and how several ring emitters 1 'can be arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction. It is only necessary to adapt the length of the optical body to the space requirements of the radiators so that a further increase in the energy yield can be achieved.
It is easy to understand that - for example in space - the role of the spotlights from the sun can be taken over. There are then only known ones Facilities of the optical body and the Align the target direction of the pipe with the position of the sun.
Tests have shown that when used more commercially optical accuracy a fairly pure beam of radiation high energy generated over a long period of time can. The financial outlay for this is in proportion to continuous wave laser arrangements of the same power negligible.
In Fig. 3 a variant is shown which uses an optical body 19 made of solid material. It essentially consists of a truncated cone with a central inner bore 20 . The base surface 21 is the light entry surface and the angle of the cone shell with the axis of symmetry 26 is where α is again slightly smaller than the material and frequency-specific critical angle of total reflection.
The radiation 22 entering the base surface is then reflected on the cone (inner) shell 23 to the inner bore 20 . At the given angular conditions, the radiation then enters the bore and leaves it - if necessary after repeated total reflection - at the light exit end 24 . The somewhat diverging beam can be directed using known optical means.
In Fig. 4, 25 denotes a hollow cone and 26 'its cone axis; the inner lateral surface 27 is mirrored with interference and acts as a reflector.
The cone has a central bore 20 'for receiving the optical device 29 , the arrangement being such that the reflected light emanating from the reflector reaches the light entry surfaces 30 of the optical device perpendicularly. When aligning the axis of symmetry of the device together with the hollow cone reflector in the direction of the incident parallel light, the concentrated radiation then emerges in the same direction at the light exit end 24 'of the optical device.
From Fig. 5 it can be seen how any number of artificial emitters 31 can be arranged one behind the other to provide the desired energy density with a corresponding length of the optical device.
