Abstract

The invention relates to medicinal pins for the dermal or transdermal administration of active substances with improved bioavailability. The medicinal substance is released from the medicinal pins and is transported into the skin by an electrical field.

Description

The invention relates to a medicinal pen for dermal or transdermal application with improved biolo availability of drugs.

For dermal or transdermal application of medication Pharmaceutical forms such as e.g. Ointments, creams, gels and plasters are used. Drug sticks containing medicinal substances are also known. Medicinal pens can e.g. for the treatment of local skin changes are used. An application of Drug pens for dermal and transdermal active ingredient application is possible.

All previously known medicinal pens have the decisive factor end disadvantage that the drug release from them and the subsequent permeation of the drug from the drug carrier into the skin undirected by pas sive diffusion takes place. Active ingredients that are not enough of permeability through the skin do not reach the place of action.

This disadvantage is overcome by the present invention eliminated in that the drug actively from the Drug stick released with the help of an electric current  is set. This also allows the court active transport of the active ingredient into the skin or through the skin.

The illustration is a non-limiting example for the construction of the medicinal stick according to the invention reproduced.

The pin in the present example consists of a handle, which is polarized by a battery ( 2 ) contained in it as a cathode. The handle ( 1 ) is made of aluminum. The drug is in a hydrogel drug carrier ( 3 ) which is intended to be applied to the area of the skin to be treated, for example when using anti-histamines after insect bites. The drug carrier is polarized by the battery as an anode.

When using the medication pen to treat skin changes on the left arm, the pen is held by the handle with the right hand and placed on the area to be treated with the gel carrier. The circuit is formed by the drug stick and the patient's body. The function of the system is indicated by an electronic circuit ( 4 ).
