Description

The invention relates to a portable control unit for Chipkar ten according to the features of the preamble of claim 1.

For existing and future applications in all areas the chip card wins the information processing due to the Storage capacity, security and decentralization of Functions increasingly important. To the diverse poss to be able to use the possibilities of a chip card system on the part of each user a chip adapted to the respective system card and on the other hand they have to be attached to the system closed terminals with a chip card reader, which is the electrical and mechanical connection between the Terminal and the chip card manufactures. A possible miss need to exclude from the outset are different safeguards concepts have been developed, for example the personal identification number, which belongs to the so-called PIN. The holder of a chip card only has access to the System, if he proves by entering his PIN that the chip card inserted into the chip card reader belongs to him. This happens in such a way that the one on Chipcard reader existing keyboard entered PIN with the compare the PIN stored and calculated in the chip of the chip card and only after a verified "match" a corresponding Approval for the subsequent data exchange is granted. This PIN check requires that the smart card Readers for operating the keyboard and, if necessary, a display genfeldes contains a power supply.

However, entering the PIN creates a new problem insofar as the terminals are usually in public accessible spaces and locations, which is why  it can be completely excluded that the respective user is observed when keying in his PIN. The for the Si security of the system mandatory confidentiality of the But PIN can also be lost, for example, if the cardholder negligently uses his PIN on the Chip card noted and the chip card then lost is coming. Therefore, to prevent possible abuse a number of additional security barriers have already been been hit. See these security barriers, for example prove that for the user identification biometric mark male's right, such as fingerprint or human Language.

The present invention is therefore based on the object de to train a control unit of the type mentioned that a simple, unmanipulatable identification of the legal chip card owner is guaranteed.

This object is achieved by the characterizing Features of claim 1 solved. Advantageous further training the invention are specified in the subclaims.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described below the drawing explained in more detail.

The figure shows an approximately DIN A6-sized control unit, the rectangular housing 1 on the top of a keyboard 2 for entering a personal identification number, the so-called PIN, and a display field 3 . A grip element 4 in the form of a grip strip with rounded outer edges is provided on at least one long side of the housing, since the control unit can be gripped easily with one hand. The operating unit also has an insertion slot for a reading device that receives a chip card 5 . This slot is preferably located on one of the free side surfaces, for example on the upper side surface. The special feature of the control unit is that the grip area has a shape adapted to the anatomy of the human hand, in such a way that grip recesses 6 are provided for the individual fingers. These recessed grips 6 are arranged in accordance with the usual grip position so that the thumb rests on the top, while all other fingers rest on the underside of the housing 1 . In the recessed grips 6 one or, if necessary, several different sensors 7 are provided, which are used to record biometric data, for example the geometry of the hand, the fingerprint, the skin temperature or the skin resistance. The individual sensors 7 are embedded in such a way that their sensor surfaces lie approximately in the plane of the recessed grip surface. The biometric data detected by the sensors are forwarded to the chip card 5 and checked for identity with data stored there. Compared to the personal identity number, which can be lost, spied on or tried out, biometric data have the advantage that, as non-manipulable data, they give a clear statement as to whether the user of the chip card is actually the rightful owner.
