The Al body is formed as a platelet (1), the thickness of which is between 0.1 and 0.3 micrometres and its greatest dia. is less than 36 micrometres. USE/ADVANTAGE - A cheap, legally usable, gold-metallic shining pigment for use with foodstuff.

Description

The invention relates to a color pigment particle for Use as a shiny metallic food coloring, consisting of an aluminum body with flat, metal glossy exterior surfaces.

The color pigment known from the prior art Particles of the type mentioned above give one pigmented food coloring a strong silvery metallic sheen. They are from food law Safe view because pure aluminum is one of the approved food colors.

A particular problem with the coloring of food exists in gold-metallic shades. Sol che gold metallic shades are at for example in bakeries or confectioneries for specialties such as anniversary cakes, golden weddings or the like needed. For cheap manufacture of gold-metallic shades of color used to be Color bronze bronze pigment particles used. Such Brass bronze food colors are allowed nowadays because of the much stricter food regulations no longer included  be set. For the production of a gold metallic That is why the color of life has recently become essential pure gold (24 carats = 99.99%) is used, wel ches is used as gold leaf or gold dust. Pure gold, which from a food law perspective is also harmless, but is extraordinary expensive. The bakers and confectioners have to half with yellow or other gold for cost reasons help similar shades.

It is an object of the invention to be a cheap, life goldme corresponding to legal requirements to create a shiny metallic pigment.

The invention relates to a colored pigment particle for use as a shiny metallic food coloring, consisting of an aluminum body with a flat, shiny metallic outer surface, this colored pigment particle being characterized in that the outer surfaces are coated with a translucent film of Fe 2 O 3 .

It has surprisingly been found that gold-metallic shiny color pigment particles with an excellent gold color can be produced by coating the metallic shiny outer surfaces of aluminum pigment particles with a translucent film of Fe 2 O 3 . The coating of aluminum pigment particles with iron oxide can be carried out, for example, in the CVD process. After a suitable cleaning of production residues, the pigment particles according to the invention consist exclusively of aluminum and iron oxide and are therefore harmless for the coloring of foods, because both pure aluminum and iron oxide are approved food colors.

Herge from color pigment particles according to the invention Powder can be made just like gold dust to process. The color pigment particles according to the Erfin but can also be used in suitable carriers are being worked to make a gold shiny food to create color.

The aluminum bodies are preferably as platelets formed whose thickness is between 0.1 and 3 microns lies and whose largest diameter is less than 36 mi crometer is.

An embodiment of a color pigment particle according to the invention is based on the drawing voltage explained in more detail, which is a cross section through a shows such color pigment particles.

The color pigment particle shown in the drawing is designed as a plate 1 , the thickness of which is between 0.1 to 3 micrometers and the largest diameter of which is less than 36 micrometers. The two coarse outer surfaces 2 and 3 of this plate 1 are completely flat and have a glossy surface. All outer surfaces of the plate 1 are covered by a thin film 4 of Fe 2 O 3 . This film 4 is only a few molecular thicknesses thick, so that it is largely translucent and gives the light reflected from the shiny metallic surface of the plate a reddish-yellow color component. In combination with the silvery shiny surface of the aluminum body, the overall result is a gold-metallic light effect that is largely similar to the light reflected from pure gold.
