Abstract

The invention is based on the object of providing an arrangement with which CO2 can be metered for subcutaneous injection for CO2 source gas therapy. An arrangement according to Fig. 1 is proposed for metering CO2 gas. By means of this arrangement metering of a constant amount of gas takes place independently of the internal pressure prevailing in the tissues of the patient. Metering is effected via a cylinder (1) whose two ends are connected by tube couplings (3, 4) to the outlets (11, 12) of the two valves (5, 6) which are controlled in alternate directions, the gas flowing in through the inlet (13) displacing the movable piston (2) and hence ejecting the escaping volume of gas through the outlet (16). The invention relates to the field of medical technology. It is intended for therapy of pain of the locomotor system, neck pain, migraine-like headaches and other reflex headaches, for relaxation of muscular tension and partially in rheumatoid disorders. It is employed in sanatoriums, therapy centres and medical practices. <IMAGE>

They are used in spa facilities, Therapy centers and medical practices.

Mechanically controlled metering systems are known for metering CO₂ gas, in which a defined gas volume relaxes from an overpressure p Ü to the patient's internal tissue pressure p G. Since the internal tissue pressure of the patient is subject to large fluctuations depending on age, health condition and other factors, it cannot be guaranteed that the required amount of gas will be brought into the body. The amount of gas remaining in the dosing volume with the internal tissue pressure prevailing in the body can no longer be supplied to the patient. As a result, the therapist cannot determine the number of injections but the amount of gas injected. With the refilling of the metering device for a further injection, a long repetition time is necessary in known methods. Functional overdoses are possible. The disadvantages of known systems lie in the low flexibility and low complexity of the control and regulation technology without the inclusion of electronic controls.

From DE-OS 38 42 852 A1 is a metering device for CO₂ gas insufflation with known disadvantages.

According to the knowledge of the prior art, it is the object of the present invention to develop a device for insufflation of CO₂ gas, in which a metering of the gas regardless of the patient's internal tissue pressure. This is claimed under the 1 described device solved. Further improvements to the properties are optional (Prevention of overdosing, automatic mode,...) By subclaims 2 to 8 causes. The invention will be described in more detail below.

After opening the cylinder valve of the CO₂ compressed gas bottle and setting the working pressure of 0.14 MPa on the maintenance unit with pressure reducing valve, the CO₂ gas flows through a bacterial filter via a hose connection to the solenoid valve ( 5 ) and from there via the hose connection ( 3 ) to the cylinder ( 1 ). The fact that the working pressure is higher than the internal tissue pressure of the person fills the storage volume ( 17 ) with CO₂ gas and pushes the piston ( 2 ) into the end position ( 15 ), the gas volume ( 18 ) via the hose connection ( 4 ) through the solenoid valve ( 6 ) and another hose connection via the injection cannula into the patient's tissue layers. The infusion process ends when the cylinder has reached the end position ( 15 ), which is signaled optically and / or acoustically. A trigger pulse from the doctor via the button ( 9 ) transmits a signal to the evaluation unit via the control line ( 9 a). This causes the two solenoid valves ( 5 , 6 ) to change over so that the CO₂ gas from the compressed gas bottle is pressed through the solenoid valve ( 6 ) via the hose connection ( 4 ) into the cylinder ( 1 ) and thus the piston ( 2 ) in the direction the end position ( 14 ) moves. The CO₂ gas is now pressed from the supply volume ( 17 ) via the hose connection ( 3 ), the solenoid valve ( 5 ) via the injection cannula into the patient's tissue. By pressing the button ( 9 ) again, the process can be repeated until the required dosage for the patient is reached. A lock in the control prevents overdosing with CO₂ gas in such a way that when an internally determined number of piston strokes n max or a number of necessary piston strokes n <n max determined by the doctor, the dosing process is interrupted by pressing the button again ( 9 ) is ignored by the control unit. This lock is only released again by pressing buttons in the control panel of the device in order to be able to carry out another insufflation. A further improvement of the arrangement can be achieved if the two 3/2 solenoid valves ( 5 , 6 ) are replaced by a 5/3 solenoid valve. This has the advantage that, if the power supply is interrupted, a defined state of the solenoid valve is set and thus there is no danger to the patient. The advantage of this arrangement over known CO₂ metering devices is that with each piston stroke, regardless of the patient's internal tissue pressure, the same amount of gas is insufflated into the patient's tissue layers.
