- Gemäß der Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung, wie hierin anhand von Ausführungsformen beschrieben, betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein Verfahren, um ein Nioboxid zumindest teilweise zu reduzieren, umfassend die Schritte Wärmebehandeln des Nioboxids in Anwesenheit eines Getterstoffs und in einer Atmosphäre, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen von dem Nioboxid zu dem Getterstoff ermöglicht, über einen ausreichenden Zeitraum und eine ausreichende Temperatur, um ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid herzustellen.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft auch im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxide, wie in den Ansprüchen 24 bis 43 definiert, die vorzugsweise vorteilhafte Eigenschaften aufweisen, insbesondere, wenn daraus eine Elektrolytkondensatoranode hergestellt wird, und ein Verfahren um Nioboxid zumindest teilweise zu reduzieren, wie in den Ansprüchen 1 bis 23 definiert.
- Beispielsweise kann ein aus dem erfindungsgemäßen im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxid hergestellter Kondensator eine Kapazität von bis zu etwa 200000 CV/g oder mehr aufweisen. Außerdem können aus dem erfindungsgemäßen im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxid hergestellte Elektrolytkondensatoranoden einen geringen Gleichstrom-Durchbruch aufweisen. Beispielsweise kann ein solcher Kondensator einen Gleichstrom-Durchbruch von etwa 0,5 nA/CV bis etwa 5,0 nA/CV aufweisen.
- Entsprechend betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung auch Verfahren zur Erhöhung der Kapazität und Verringerung des Gleichstrom-Durchbruchs in Kondensatoren, die aus Nioboxiden hergestellt wurden, die das teilweise Reduzieren eines Nioboxids durch Wännebehandlung des Nioboxids in Gegenwart eines Getterstoffs und in einer Atmosphäre, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen von dem Nioboxid zu dem Getterstoff ermöglichen, über einen ausreichenden Zeitraum und bei einer ausreichenden Temperatur, um ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid herzustellen, umfassen, welches, wenn daraus eine Kondensatoranode hergestellt wird, einen verringerten Gleichstrom-Durchbruch und/oder eine erhöhte Kapazität aufweist.
- Weiterhin betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Kondensatoranode, wie in den Ansprüchen 50 bis 54 angegeben.
- Selbstverständlich sind die vorangegangene allgemeine Beschreibung und die folgende detaillierte Beschreibung nur exemplarisch und erläuternd und sollen die vorliegende Erfindung, wie beansprucht, näher erläutern.
- Die
1 bis11 sind REM-Aufnahmen von verschiedenen im Sauerstoffgehalt reduzierten Nioboxiden der vorliegenden Erfindung bei verschiedenen Vergrößerungen. - Im Folgenden wird die vorliegende Erfindung detailliert beschrieben.
- In einer Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung betrifft die Erfindung Verfahren, um ein Nioboxid zumindest teilweise zu reduzieren. Im Allgemeinen umfasst das Verfahren die Schritte Wärmebehandeln eines Ausgangs-Nioboxids in Anwesenheit eines Getterstoffs in einer Atmosphäre, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen von dem Nioboxid zu dem Getterstoff ermöglicht, über einen ausreichenden Zeitraum und bei einer ausreichenden Temperatur, um ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid herzustellen.
- Für die Zweck der vorliegenden Erfindung kann das Nioboxid mindestens ein Oxid von Niobmetall und/oder Legierungen davon sein. Ein spezielles Beispiel für das Ausgangs-Nioboxid ist Nb2O5.
- Das in der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendete Nioboxid kann jede beliebige Form oder Größe aufweisen. Vorzugsweise liegt das Nioboxid in Form eines Pulvers oder einer Vielzahl von Teilchen vor. Beispiele für die Art des Pulvers, die verwendet werden kann, umfassen plättchenförmiges, eckiges, nadelförmiges und Mischungen oder Variationen davon, sind aber nicht darauf beschränkt. Vorzugsweise liegt das Nioboxid in Form eines Pulvers vor, das wirksamer zu den im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxid führt.
- Beispiele für solche bevorzugten Nioboxidpulver umfassen solche mit Korngrößen (mesh sizes) von 60/100 bis 100/325 Mesh und von 60/100 bis 200/325 Mesh. Ein anderer Größenbereich reicht von –40 Mesh bis –325 Mesh. In anderen Worten weisen bevorzugte Nioboxidpulver Teilchengrößen von 150/250 bis 45/150 μm (microns) und von 150/250 bis 45/75 μm (microns) auf. Ein anderer bevorzugter Größenbereich ist von 355 μm (microns) bis 45 μm (microns).
- Der Getterstoff für den Zweck der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein beliebiges Material, das das spezielle Nioboxidausgangsmaterial zu einem im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxid reduzieren kann. Vorzugsweise umfasst der Getterstoff Tantal, Niob oder beides. Weitere Beispiele umfassen Magnesium und Ähnliches, sind aber nicht darauf beschränkt. Es kann jeder Getterstoff verwendet werden, der eine größere Affinität zu Sauerstoff aufweist als Nioboxid. Weiter bevorzugt ist der Getterstoff Niob. Der Niob-Getterstoff für den Zweck der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein beliebiges Material, das Niobmetall enthält und das Sauerstoff zumindest teilweise von dem Nioboxid entfernen oder dieses reduzieren kann. Somit kann der Niob-Getterstoff eine Legierung oder ein Material, das Mischungen aus Niobmetall mit anderen Stoffen enthält, sein. Vorzugsweise ist der Niob-Getterstoff hauptsächlich, wenn nicht ausschließlich; Niobmetall. Die Reinheit des Niob-Getterstoffs ist nicht wichtig, es ist aber bevorzugt, dass der Getterstoff hochreines Niob umfasst, um das Einbringen anderer Verunreinigungen während des Wärmebehandlungsverfahrens zu vermeiden. Folglich weist das Niobmetall in dem Niob-Getterstoff vorzugsweise eine Reinheit von mindestens 98%, weiter bevorzugt von mindestens 99%, auf. Sauerstoff kann in dem Niob-Getterstoff in einer beliebigen Menge vorliegen. Vorzugsweise liegt die Menge von Verunreinigungen, die den Gleichstrom-Durchbruch negativ beeinflussen, wie Eisen, Nickel, Chrom und Kohlenstoff, unter 100 ppm. Insbesondere bevorzugt ist der Getterstoff ein plättchenförmiges Niobmetall, vorzugsweise mit der Fähigkeit, eine hohe Kapazität zu erzeugen, wie größer als 75000 CV/g und weiter bevorzugt 100000 CV/g oder darüber, wie etwa 200000 CV/g. Der Getterstoff hat außerdem vorzugsweise einen großen Obertlächenbereich, beispielsweise ein BET von 5 bis 30 m2/g und weiter bevorzugt von 20 bis 30 m2/g.
- Der Getterstoff kann in jeder beliebigen Form oder Größe vorliegen. Beispielsweise kann der Getterstoff in Form eines Tabletts, welches das zu reduzierende Nioboxid enthält, oder in Form von Teilchen oder in Pulverform vorliegen. Vorzugsweise liegen die Getterstoffe in Form eines Pulvers vor, damit sie eine möglichst wirksame Oberfläche zur Reduzierung des Nioboxids aufweisen. Der Getterstoff kann folglich plättchenförmig, eckig (angular), nadelförmig oder in einer gemischten oder variierten Form davon, z. B. in Form von groben Spänen, wie Spänen mit einer Größe von 14/40 Mesh, vorliegen, die leicht von dem pulverförmigen Produkt durch Sieben abgetrennt werden können.
- Entsprechend kann der Getterstoff Tantal und Ähnliches sein und kann dieselben bevorzugten Parameter und/oder Eigenschaften, wie oben mit Bezug auf den Niob-Getterstoff beschrieben, aufweisen. Andere Getterstoffe können allein oder in Kombination mit dem Tantal- oder Niob-Getterstoff verwendet werden. Andere Materialien können ebenfalls einen Teil des Getterstoffs ausmachen.
- Der Getterstoff kann nach der Verwendung entfernt werden oder kann bleiben. Wenn der Getterstoff in dem im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxid verbleiben soll, ist es bevorzugt, dass der Getterstoff Niob ist, vorzugsweise mit einer ähnlichen Form und Größe wie das Ausgangs-Nioboxid. Außerdem wird vorzugsweise ein Getterstoff mit hoher Reinheit, einem großen Oberflächenbereich und/oder einer hohen Porosität (z. B. Material von Kondensatorqualität) verwendet, da ein solches Material denselben oder einen ähnlichen Oxidationszustand wie das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid annehmen wird und das Verfahren so eine 100%ige Ausbeute an im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertem Nioboxid erzielt. Somit kann der Getterstoff als Getterstoff wirken und verbleiben, um Teil des im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxids zu werden.
- Im Allgemeinen ist eine ausreichende Menge an Getterstoff vorhanden, um das Wärme zu behandelnde Nioboxid zumindest teilweise zu reduzieren. Die Menge an Getterstoff hängt davon ab, welcher Grad an Reduktion für das Nioboxid gewünscht wird. Wenn beispielsweise eine leichte Reduktion des Nioboxids erwünscht ist, wird der Getterstoff in einer stöchiometrischen Menge anwesend sein. Wenn das Nioboxid entsprechend beträchtlich bezüglich des darin enthaltenen Sauerstoffs reduziert werden soll, liegt der Getterstoff in der 2- bis 5fachen stöchiometrischen Menge vor. Im Allgemeinen kann der Getterstoff (z. B. bezogen auf einen Tantal-Getterstoff mit 100% Tantal) in einer Menge, basierend auf dem folgenden Verhältnis von Getterstoff zur Menge an vorhandenem Nioboxid, im Bereich von 2 zu 1 bis 10 zu 1 vorliegen. Der Getterstoff wird vorzugsweise mit dem Ausgangs-Nioboxid in einer Atmosphäre vermengt oder vermischt, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen von dem Nioboxid zu dem Getterstoff ermöglicht (z. B. eine Wasserstoffatmosphäre), und vorzugsweise bei einer Temperatur von 1100°C bis 1500°C.
- Die Menge an Getterstoff kann außerdem abhängen von der Art des zu reduzierenden Nioboxids. Wenn das zu reduzierende Nioboxid beispielsweise Nb2O5 ist, ist die Menge an Getterstoff vorzugsweise 5 zu 1. Wenn man von Nb2O5 ausgeht, wird ebenfalls eine stöchiometrische Menge an Getterstoff, vorzugsweise plättchenförmiges Niobmetall, verwendet, um ein Oxid zu erhalten, welches 0,89 Teile Metall pro 1 Teil Oxid enthält.
- Die Wärmebehandlung, der das Ausgangs-Nioboxid unterworfen wird, kann in beliebigen Wärmebehandlungsvorrichtungen oder Öfen, die üblicherweise für die Wärmebehandlung von Metallen, wie Niob und Tantal, verwendet werden, durchgeführt werden. Die Wärmebehandlung des Nioboxids in Anwesenheit des Getterstoffs erfolgt bei einer ausreichenden Temperatur und über einen ausreichenden Zeitraum, um ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid zu bilden. Die Temperatur und die Zeit der Wärmebehandlung können von einer Vielzahl von Faktoren abhängen, wie dem Grad der Reduktion des Nioboxids, der Menge an Getterstoff und der Art des Getterstoffs, sowie der Art des Ausgangs-Nioboxids. Im Allgemeinen wird die Wärmebehandlung des Nioboxids bei einer Temperatur von weniger als etwa 800°C bis 1900°C, weiter bevorzugt von 1000°C bis 1400°C, und am meisten bevorzugt von 1100°C bis 1250°C, erfolgen. Genauer gesagt liegen die Temperaturen für die Wärmebehandlung im Bereich von 1000°C bis 1300°C, weiter bevorzugt von 1100°C bis 1250°C, für einen Zeitraum von 5 Minuten bis 100 Minuten, und weiter bevorzugt von 30 Minuten bis 60 Minuten. Routinetests im Hinblick auf die Anwendung ermöglichen es dem Fachmann, die Zeiten und Temperaturen für die Wärmebehandlung ohne Weiteres einzustellen und so die genaue oder gewünschte Reduktion des Nioboxids zu erhalten.
- Die Wärmebehandlung erfolgt in einer Atmosphäre, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen von dem Nioboxid zu dem Getterstoff ermöglicht. Die Wärmebehandlung erfolgt vorzugsweise in einer Wasserstoff enthaltenden Atmosphäre, die vorzugsweise nur Wasserstoff ist. Andere Gase, wie Inertgase, können neben dem Wasserstoff ebenfalls vorliegen, solange die anderen Gase nicht mit dem Wasserstoff reagieren. Vorzugsweise liegt die Wasserstoffatmosphäre während der Wännebehandlung bei einem Druck von 1,333 kPa (10 Torr) bis 266,6 kPa (2000 Torr), weiter bevorzugt von 13,33 kPa (100 Torr) bis 133,3 kPa (1000 Torr) und am meisten bevorzugt von 13,33 kPa (100 Torr) bis 123,97 kPa (930 Torr) vor. Mischungen von H2 und einem Inertgas, wie Ar, können verwendet werden. N2 in N2 kann ebenfalls verwendet werden, um den N2-Gehalt des Nioboxids einzustellen.
- In dem Wärmebehandlungsverfahren kann während der gesamten Wärmebehandlung eine konstante Behandlungstemperatur gewählt werden, oder Variationen der Temperatur oder Temperaturstufen können gewählt werden. Beispielsweise kann Wasserstoff am Anfang bei 1000°C zugeführt werden, gefolgt von der Erhöhung der Temperatur auf 1250°C über einen Zeitraum von 30 Minuten, gefolgt von einer Verringerung der Temperatur auf 1000°C, auf der sie bis zur Entfernung des H2-Gases gehalten wird. Nachdem H2 oder ein anderes Atmosphärengas entfernt wurde, kann die Ofentemperatur abgesenkt werden. Variationen dieser Schritte können angewendet werden, um sie an industrielle Präferenzen anzupassen. Das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid kann anschließend zerkleinert werden, beispielsweise durch Brechen (crushing). Das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid kann agglomeriert und gebrochen oder auf eine andere Weise, in der Ventilmetalle behandelt werden können, behandelt werden.
- Die im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxide können auch Stickstoffgehalte, beispielsweise von 100 ppm bis 30000 ppm N2, aufweisen.
- Das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid ist ein beliebiges Nioboxid, welches einenniedrigeren Sauerstoffgehalt im Metalloxid aufweist als das Ausgangs-Nioboxid. Typische reduzierte Nioboxide umfassen NbO, NbO0,7, NbO1,1, NbO2 und beliebige Kombinationen davon, in denen andere Oxide anwesend sein können oder nicht. Im Allgemeinen weist das erfindungsgemäße, reduzierte Nioboxid ein Atomverhältnis von Niob zu Sauerstoff von 1 : weniger als 2,5, vorzugsweise von 1 : 2, und weiter bevorzugt von 1 : 1,1, 1 : 1 oder 1 : 0,7, auf. Anders ausgedrückt hat das reduzierte Nioboxid vorzugsweise die Formel NbxOy, worin Nb Niob ist, x 2 oder weniger bedeutet und y weniger als 2,5 x ist. Weiter bevorzugt ist x 1 und y ist weniger als 2, beispielsweise 1,1, 1,0, 0,7 und Ähnliches.
- Das Ausgangs-Nioboxid kann hergestellt werden durch Kalzinieren bei 1000°C, bis alle flüchtigen Komponenten entfernt sind. Die Oxide können durch Sieben klassiert werden. Eine Wärmevorbehandlung des Nioboxids kann durchgeführt werden, um in den Oxidteilchen eine bestimmte Porosität zu erzeugen.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen reduzierten Oxide weisen ebenfalls vorzugsweise eine mikroporöse Oberfläche auf und haben vorzugsweise eine schwammartige Struktur, in der die Primärteilchen vorzugsweise eine Größe von 1 μm (micron) oder weniger aufweisen. Die REM-Aufnahmen zeigen außerdem den Typ von bevorzugtem reduzierten Nioboxid der vorliegenden Erfindung. Wie aus diesen Mikrofotografien ersichtlich ist, können die erfindungsgemäßen reduzierten Nioboxide eine hohe spezifische Oberfläche und eine poröse Struktur mit einer Porosität von etwa 50%, aufweisen. Außerdem können die erfindungsgemäßen reduzierten Nioboxide dadurch gekennzeichnet sein, dass sie eine bevorzugte spezifische Oberfläche von 0,5 bis 10,0 m2/g, weiter bevorzugt von 0,5 bis 2,0 m2/g, und noch weiter bevorzugt von 1,0 bis 1,5 m2/g, aufweisen. Die bevorzugte Schüttdichte von Pulvern der Nioboxide ist geringer als 2,0 g/cm3, weiter bevorzugt weniger als 1,5 g/cm3 und noch weiter bevorzugt von 0,5 bis 1,5 g/cm3. Die Pulver der Nioboxide können außerdem Scott-Dichten, wie etwa von 0,31 g/cm3 (5 g/in3) bis 2,14 g/cm3 (35 g/in3), aufweisen.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung ermöglicht es, Eigenschaften zu erhalten, die ähnlich wenn nicht sogar besser als die von Niob sind, und doch weniger Niob im Produkt verwenden, da ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid gebildet und verwendet wird. Folglich streckt die vorliegende Erfindung die Niobmenge in Produkten, wie Kondensatoranoden, da mehr Anoden oder andere Produkte hergestellt werden können unter Verwendung derselben Menge an Niob.
- Die verschiedenen erfindungsgemäßen im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxide können weiter gekennzeichnet werden durch die elektrischen Eigenschaften, die aus der Bildung einer Kondensatoranode unter Verwendung des im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxids der vorliegenden Erfindung erhalten werden. Im Allgemeinen können die erfindungsgemäßen im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxide bezüglich ihrer elektrischen Eigenschaften getestet werden durch Pressen von Pulvern des im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxids zu einer Anode und Sintern des gepressten Pulvers bei einer geeigneten Temperatur und anschließend Anodisieren der Anode, um eine Elektrolytkondensatoranode herzustellen, die anschließend bezüglich ihrer elektrischen Eigenschaften getestet werden kann.
- Entsprechend betrifft eine andere Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung Anoden für Kondensatoren, die aus dem im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxid der vorliegenden Erfindung hergestellt wurden. Anoden können aus der Pulverform des reduzierten Oxids in einem ähnlichen Verfahren, wie es für die Herstellung von Metallanoden angewendet wird, hergestellt werden, d. h. durch Pressen von porösen Pellets mit eingebetteten Bleidrähten (lead wires) oder anderen Verbindungselementen, gefolgt von optionalem Sintern und Anodisieren. Das Bleiverbindungselement kann eingebettet sein oder zu jedem beliebigen Zeitpunkt vor dem Anodisieren angebracht werden. Anoden aus einigen der im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxide der vorliegenden Erfindung können eine Kapazität von 1000 CV/g oder niedriger bis 300000 CV/g oder mehr aufweisen, und weitere Kapazitätsbereiche können von 20000 CV/g bis 300000 CV/g oder von 62000 CV/g bis 200000 CV/g und vorzugsweise von 60000 CV/g bis 150000 CV/g gehen. Bei der Herstellung der Kondensatoranoden der vorliegenden Erfindung kann eine Sintertemperatur gewählt werden, die die Bildung einer Kondensatoranode mit den gewünschten Eigenschaften ermöglicht. Die Sintertemperatur hängt von dem verwendeten im Sauerstoffgehalt reduzierten Nioboxid ab. Vorzugsweise liegt die Sintertemperatur im Bereich von 1200°C bis 1750°C, weiter bevorzugt von 1200°C bis 1400°C, und am meisten bevorzugt von 1250°C bis 1350°C, wenn das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid ist.
- Die aus den erfindungsgemäßen Nioboxiden hergestellten Anoden werden vorzugsweise bei einer Spannung von etwa 35 Volt und vorzugsweise von 6 bis 70 Volt, konfiguriert. Wenn ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid verwendet wird, liegen die Konfigurierungsspannungen vorzugsweise im Bereich von 6 bis 50 Volt und weiter bevorzugt von 10 bis 40 Volt. Andere hohe Konfigurierungsspannungen können verwendet werden. Anoden aus den reduzierten Nioboxiden können hergestellt werden durch Herstellung eines Pellets aus Nb2O5 mit einem Bleidraht, gefolgt von Sintern in einer H2-Atmosphäre oder einer anderen geeigneten Atmosphäre, wobei sich ein Getterstoff in unmittelbarer Nähe der pulverförmigen Oxide befindet. In dieser Ausführungsform kann der Anodengegenstand direkt hergestellt werden. Beispielsweise werden das im Sauerstoffgehalt reduzierte Ventilmetalloxid und eine Anode gleichzeitig gebildet. Die aus den im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxiden der vorliegenden Erfindung hergestellten Anoden weisen außerdem vorzugsweise einen Gleichstrom-Durchbruch von weniger als 5,0 nA/CV auf. In einer Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung weisen Anoden, die aus einigen der erfindungsgemäßen im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerten Nioboxide hergestellt wurden, einen Gleichstrom-Durchbruch von 5,0 nA/CV bis 0,50 nA/CV auf.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft außerdem einen erfindungsgemäßen Kondensator mit einem Nioboxidfilm auf der Oberfläche des Kondensators. Vorzugsweise ist der Film ein Niobpentoxidfilm. Die Mittel zur Herstellung einer Kondensatoranode aus einem Metallpulver sind dem Fachmann bekannt, und solche Verfahren werden in den US-Patenten Nr. 4,805,074, 5,412,533, 5,211,741 und 5,245,514 und den europäischen Patentanmeldungen Nr. 0 634 762 A1 und 0 634 761 A1 beschrieben.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Kondensatoren können in einer Vielzahl von Endanwendungen eingesetzt werden, wie Automobil-Elektronik, Mobiltelefone, Computer, beispielsweise Monitore, Hauptplatinen und Ähnliches, Verbraucherelektronik, einschließlich N und CRT, Drucker/Kopierer, Netzanschlüsse, Modems, Computer-Notebooks und Diskettenlaufwerke.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung wird durch die nachstehenden Beispiele verdeutlicht, die exemplarisch für die vorliegende Erfindung sein sollen.

- Bestimmung der Scott-Dichte, Sauerstoffanalyse, Phosphoranalyse und BET-Analyse wurden entsprechend den in den US-Patenten Nr. 5,011,742, 4,960,471 und 4,964,906 beschriebenen Verfahren durchgeführt.
- BEISPIELE
- Beispiel 1
- +10 Mesh Tantalhydrid-Späne (99,2 g) mit etwa 50 ppm Sauerstoff wurden mit 22 Gramm Nb2O5 gemischt und in Tantal-Tabletts gegeben. Die Tabletts wurden in einen Vakuum-Wärmebehandlungsofen eingeführt und auf 1000°C erhitzt. H2-Gas wurde in den Ofen bis zu einem Druck von +20,685 kPa (+3 psi) eingelassen. Die Temperatur wurde weiter auf 1240°C erhöht und über einen Zeitraum von 30 Minuten gehalten. Dann wurde die Temperatur auf 1050°C über einen Zeitraum von 6 Minuten erniedrigt, bis das gesamte H2 aus dem Ofen gespült war. Während die Temperatur noch auf 1050°C gehalten wurde, wurde das Argongas aus dem Ofen abgesaugt, bis ein Druck von 66,65 mPa (5 × 10–4 Torr) erreicht war. An diesem Punkt wurden 93,31 kPa (700 mm) Argon wieder in die Kammer eingelassen und der Ofen wurde auf 60°C abgekühlt.
- Das Material wurde durch mehrere cyclische Behandlungen mit progressiv höher werdenden Partialdrücken von Sauerstoff wie folgt passiviert, bevor es aus dem Ofen genommen wurde. Der Ofen wurde wieder mit Argon auf 93,31 kPa (700 mm) gefüllt, gefolgt durch Auffüllen mit Luft bis zu einer Atmosphäre. Nach 4 Minuten wurde die Kammer auf 1,33 Pa (10–2 Torr) evakuiert. Die Kammer wurde dann wieder auf 79,98 kPa (600 mm) mit Argon befüllt, gefolgt von Luft auf 101 kPa (eine Atmosphäre) und so 4 Minuten gehalten. Die Kammer wurde auf 1,33 Pa (10–2 Torr) evakuiert. Die Kammer wurde dann auf 53,32 kPa (400 mm) mit Argon befüllt, gefolgt durch Luft auf 101 kPa (eine Atmosphäre). Nach vier Minuten wurde die Kammer auf 1,33 Pa (10–2 Torr) evakuiert. Die Kammer wurde dann wieder auf 26,66 kPa (200 mm) mit Argon befüllt, gefolgt von Luft auf 101 kPa (eine Atmosphäre) und 4 Minuten so gehalten. Die Kammer wurde auf 1,33 Pa (10–2 Torr) evakuiert. Die Kammer wurde dann wieder auf 101 kPa (eine Atmosphäre) mit Argon befüllt und geöffnet, um die Probe zu entnehmen.
- Das Pulverprodukt wurde von dem Getterstoff aus Tantal-Spänen durch Sieben über ein 40 Mesh Sieb getrennt. Das Produkt wurde mit den folgenden Ergebnissen getestet. CV/g von Pellets, gesintert bei 1300°C × 10 Minuten und konfiguriert bei 35 Volt = 81,297.

- Proben 1 bis 20 sind Beispiele mit ähnlichen Schritten wie oben beschrieben mit pulverförmigen Nb2O5, wie in der Tabelle angegeben. Für die meisten Beispiele werden die Korngrößen (mesh sizes) des als Ausgangsmaterial zugegebenen Materials in der Tabelle angegeben. Beispielsweise bedeutet 60/100 eine Korngröße von weniger als 60 Mesh, aber größer als 100 Mesh. Entsprechend wird die Korngröße (screen size) einiger Ta-Getterstoffe als 14/40 angegeben. Die als "Ta Hydrid-Späne" gekennzeichneten Getterstoffe sind +40 Mesh ohne obere Grenze der Teilchengröße.
- In Probe 18 wurde Nb als Getterstoff eingesetzt (im Handel erhältliches N200 plättchenförmiges Nb-Pulver von CPM). Der Getterstoff für Probe 18 war feingemahlenes Nb-Pulver, das nicht aus dem Endprodukt abgetrennt wurde. Die Röntgenbeugung zeigte dass ein Teil des Getterstoffs als Nb zurückblieb, das meiste aber in NbO1,1 und NbO durch das Verfahren umgewandelt wurde, ebenso wie das Ausgangs-Nioboxid-Material Nb2O5.
- Probe 15 war ein Pellet aus Nb2O5, gepresst auf annähernd Feststoffdichte und umgesetzt mit H2 in enger Nachbarschaft zum Ta-Getterstoff. Das Verfahren führte das feste Oxidpellet in einen porösen Block aus NbO-Suboxid über. Dieser Block wurde zu einer Platte aus Nb-Material gesintert, um eine Anoden-Blei-Verbindung (anode lead connection) herzustellen, und auf 35 Volt anodisiert unter Verwendung eines ähnlichen elektrischen Verfahrens wie es für die Pulverblock-Pellets verwendet wird. Diese Probe zeigt die einzigartige Fähigkeit dieses Verfahrens, einen zur Anodisierung bereiten Block in einem einzigen Schritt aus Nb2O5-Ausgangsmaterial herzustellen.
- Die Tabelle zeigt die hohe Kapazität und den niedrigen Gleichstrom-Durchbruch von Anoden, hergestellt aus den gepressten und gesinterten Pulvern/Pellets der vorliegenden Erfindung. Mikrofotografien (REM's) von verschiedenen Proben wurden aufgenommen. Diese Fotografien zeigen die poröse Struktur des erfindungsgemäßen im Sauerstoffgehalt reduzierten Nioboxids. Insbesondere ist

Claims (54)
- Verfahren um ein Nioboxid zumindest teilweise zu reduzieren, umfassend das Wärmebehandeln des Nioboxids in Anwesenheit eines Getterstofts und in einer Atmosphäre, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen von dem Nioboxid an den Getterstoft ermöglicht, über einen ausreichenden Zeitraum und bei einer ausreichenden Temperatur, um ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid herzustellen.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das Nioboxid ein Niobpentoxid ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid ein Niobsuboxid ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid ein Atomverhältnis von Niob zu Sauerstoff von 1 : weniger als 2,5 aufweist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid Sauerstoffgehalte aufweist, die weniger als das stöchiometrische Verhältnis für ein vollständig oxidiertes Niob sind.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid eine mikroporöse Struktur aufweist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid ein Porenvolumen von etwa 50% aufweist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin die Atmosphäre Wasserstoff in einer Menge von 1,333 kPa bis 266,6 kPa (10 Torr bis 2.000 Torr) ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff ein Niob-Getterstoff ist, der zur Herstellung einer Anode mit einer Kapazität von mindestens 75.000 CV/g verwendet werden kann.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin die Atmosphäre eine Wasserstoffatmosphäre ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff ein Niob-Getterstoff ist, der zur Herstellung einer Anode mit einer Kapazität von 100.000 CV/g bis 200.000 CV/g verwendet werden kann.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin die Wärmebehandlung bei einer Temperatur von 1.000° bis 1.500°C über einen Zeitraum von 10 bis 90 Minuten durchgeführt wird.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff mit dem Nioboxid vor oder während der Wärmebehandlung homogenisiert wird.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff ein blättchenförmiger Niob-Getterstoff ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff nach der Wärmebehandlung ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid bildet.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff ein Magnesium enthaltender Getterstoff ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff Tantalhydrid-Teilchen enthält.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff Tantal, Niob oder beides enthält.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff Tantalhydrid-Teilchen mit 14/40 Mesh sind.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Getterstoff eine für die Kondensatorherstellung geeignete Reinheit aufweist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid NbO ist und der Getterstoff Niob ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid eine Oberfläche von 0,5 bis 10,0 m2/g aufweist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid eine Oberfläche von 1,0 bis 2,0 m2/g aufweist.
- Nioboxid mit einem Atomverhältnis von Niob zu Sauerstoff von 1 : weniger als 2,5.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Atomverhältnis 1 : weniger als 2,0 ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Atomverhältnis 1 : weniger als 1,5 ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Atomverhältnis 1 : 1,1 ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Atomverhältnis 1 : 0,7 ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Atomverhältnis 1 : 0,5 ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid eine poröse Struktur aufweist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid eine poröse Struktur mit Poren von 0,1 bis 10 μm aufweist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid NbO, NbO0,7 NbO1,1 oder Kombinationen davon aufweist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid zu einer Anode eines Elektrolytkondensators mit einer Kapazität von bis zu 300.000 CV/g verarbeitet wird.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, welches weiterhin Stickstoff umfasst.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin der Stickstoff in einer Menge von 100 bis 30.000 ppm N2 vorhanden ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid zu einer Anode eines Elektrolytkondensators verarbeitet wird, wobei die Anode eine Kapazität von 1.000 bis 300.000 CV/g aufweist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 36, worin die Kapazität im Bereich von 60.000 bis 200.000 CV/g liegt.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 36, worin die Anode einen Gleichstrom-Durchbruch von 0,5 bis 5 nA/CV aufweist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Niob nadelförmiges, blättchenförmiges oder kantiges Niob oder Kombinationen davon enthält.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24 mit einer spezifischen Oberfläche von 0,5 bis 10,0 m2/g.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24 mit einer spezifischen Oberfläche von 0,5 bis 2,0 m2/g.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24 mit einer spezifischen Oberfläche von 1,0 bis 1,5 m2/g.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24 mit einer spezifischen Oberfläche von 1,0 bis 10,0 m2/g.
- Kondensator, umfassend das Nioboxid gemäß einem der Ansprüche 24 bis 43.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid bei einer Temperatur von 1.200°C bis 1.750°C gesintert ist.
- Nioboxid nach Anspruch 24, worin das Nioboxid bei einer Temperatur von 1.200°C bis 1.450°C gesintert ist.
- Kondensator nach Anspruch 44 mit einer Kapazität von 1.000 bis 300.000 CV/g.
- Kondensator nach Anspruch 44 mit einer Kapazität von 60.000 bis 200.000 CV/g.
- Kondensator nach Anspruch 44 mit einem Gleichstrom-Durchbruch von 0,5 bis 5 nA/CV.
- Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Kondensatoranode, umfassend die Schritte a) Herstellen eines Pellets aus Nioboxid und Wärmebehandeln des Pellets in Anwesenheit eines Getterstoffs und in einer Atmosphäre, die den Übergang von Sauerstoffatomen aus dem Nioboxid an den Getterstoff ermöglicht, über einen ausreichenden Zeitraum und bei einer ausreichenden Temperatur um einen Elektrodenkörper, umfassend das Pellet, herzustellen, wobei das Pellet ein im Sauerstoffgehalt verringertes Nioboxid umfasst, und b) Anodisieren des Elektrodenkörpers, um die Kondensatoranode herzustellen.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 50, worin die Atmosphäre eine Wasserstoffatmosphäre ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 50, worin der Getterstoff Tantal, Niob oder beides umfasst.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 50, worin der Getterstoff Niob ist.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 50, worin das im Sauerstoffgehalt verringerte Nioboxid ein Atomverhältnis von Niob zu Sauerstoff von 1 : weniger als 2,5 aufweist.
