Der Apparat besteht im wesentlichen aus der Luftpumpe A und dem Glasbehälter B. Das Rohr α führt vom Boden des letzteren bis auf den Boden des zu entleerenden Gefäfses, welches am Halse einen Gummizapfen b als Verschlufs hat, der durch ein kleines Nebenloch nur ebensoviel Luft in den Ballon eintreten läfst, wie beim Entleeren desselben unbedingt nöthig ist, dann aber sofort wieder abschliefst. Die oberste Spitze des Behälters B ist durch das Röhrchen c mit der Luftpumpe verbunden. Ein Dreiwegehahn d, der in diese Leitung eingeschaltet ist, gestattet je nach seiner Stellung den directen Durchgang oder die Verbindung der äufseren Luft mit dem Behälter B. Sobald nun der Raum B das gewünschte beliebige Quantum in sich aufgenommen hat, braucht man nur den Dreiwegehahn d so zu stellen, dafs er einen Moment von aufsen Luft in B eintreten läfst, um dadurch sofort den weiteren Zuflufs zu hemmen. Das Kugelventil / verhindert das Zurückfliefsen der Säure nach dem Ballon. Man kann nun jeden beliebigen Theil des Inhaltes von B mittelst des Hahnes e verzapfen.
