Description

The present invention relates to an apparatus such as a washing machine for washing clothes or dishes, an apparatus for dispensing product in solution, etc., provided with boxes for products.

In a washing machine, for example, detergents in powder or liquid form are usually used and the known boxes or tubs which contain them are designed in different ways. In the case of a powdered product, the known storage container or box frequently comprises either a side wall open from top to bottom or one or more holes formed at its bottom, intended for the evacuation of the product. In such a box or tray, the powdered product deposited in a place remote from this open wall or these holes, in the absence of water, remains in a heap and does not go away or spill into the tank. the machine. When water is introduced into this box or tank, the pulverulent product is entrained by the water through this open wall or these holes, in the tank of the machine.

On the other hand, for a liquid product, the storage box or tank has closed walls, and the product is usually discharged by a siphon which starts after adding water to this box or tank.

In known devices, these boxes or storage tanks designed for a pulverulent product are not capable of receiving a liquid product or conversely when these boxes are intended for a liquid product, they do not function correctly for a pulverulent product. A change in the physical state of the detergents used requires a change in the type of box or the use of an adaptation device.

These expensive solutions add to the cost price of the device manufactured.

Like document EP-A-0083532 (which belongs to the state of the art according to Article 54 (3) EPC). the object of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks, makes it possible to produce an economical device in which a universal product container can operate equally well with a liquid or pasty pulverulent product.

According to document EP-A-0 083 532 a device provided with boxes of products whose distribution during the operation of this device, is done by evacuation of a mixture formed of these products and a liquid such as water injected into these boxes, includes as product boxes, at least one universal box operating with a flow of drive water and overflow.

This universal box includes a water drainage hole whose diameter is determined so as to let the water pass while preventing the passage of liquid products. However, it is difficult to prevent a leak of liquid products whose viscosity is close to that of water.

The present invention provides the subject of document EP-A-0 083 532 with improvements which make it possible to improve its operation and to avoid the above drawbacks.

According to the present invention, an apparatus such as a washing machine or dishwasher provided with a universal box for pulverulent, liquid or pasty products operating with a flow of entrained water and with overflow, comprises in combination , in this product box, at least one threshold for retaining the products in the box, a deflector and a siphon or siphoning device, arranged on the path of the drive water current created by a water jet which give to this product box an ability to receive all powdery, pasty or liquid detergents whatever their degree of viscosity, and carry out the evacuation of these products both by overflow overflow through this threshold and by siphon transfer through this siphoning device.

In order to better understand the invention, an exemplary embodiment is illustrated below, illustrated by attached drawings, of which
  • FIG. 1 represents a partial and schematic view of a top-loading washing machine, produced according to document EP-A-0 083 532 showing the door of the machine, in a closed position,
  • 2 shows a partial and schematic view of the machine of Figure 1, in section along a plane II-II.
  • FIG. 3 represents a partial and schematic view of a washing machine made according to the invention, showing the door of the machine, in a closed position, and
  • 4 shows a partial and schematic view of the machine of Figure 3, in section along a plane IV-IV.

The machine 1 for top loading, is formed by a door 5 pivoting about a horizontal axis 6.

The door 5 is provided in its inner surface 7 with at least one universal product container 9 operating with a flow of drive water and overflow. This door 5 includes a removable assembly 8 of two twin universal boxes 9 and 10, for powdery, liquid or pasty detergents projecting into the opening 11 of the tank 3 when this assembly 8 is put in its operating position. , by closing door 5.

According to this operating position of the assembly 8, the universal boxes 9 and 10 respectively comprise cylindrical side walls 12, 13, end walls 14, 15, 16, 17 and inlets 18, 19 extended laterally by spouts funnel-shaped 20, 21. The inlets 18, 19 are formed in the cylindrical side walls 12, 13 over only part of their width or height, and closer to the end walls 14, 16 which represent the upper walls of the boxes 9 and 10 when the assembly 8 is in its operating position. It follows that in this operating position of the boxes 9 and 10 (FIG. 1), the end walls 15, 17 which represent the lower walls, are at a level lower than that of the thresholds 22, 23 of the inputs 18, 19. This difference in level or the height of the thresholds 22, 23 defines the maximum dose of product, in particular liquid, which can be retained by the boxes 9 and 10. If its quantity is too large, the liquid product is evacuated by overflowing of these thresholds 22, 23 according to an overflow spill. When the assembly 8 is put in its recharging position by lifting the door 5 in its vertical position not shown, the inlets 18 and 19 of the boxes 9 and 10 are oriented upwards, and the spouts in the form of funnels 20, 21 facilitate the filling of these boxes with powdery, liquid or pasty detergents. When this assembly 8 is returned to its operating position (FIG. 1), the doses of detergents found in the boxes 9 and 10 are retained by the thresholds 22, 23 of the inputs 18, 19. The universal boxes 9 and 10 further comprise respectively in their end walls 15, 17 which represent their lower walls in their operating position (FIG. 1 of the water drainage holes 30 and 31. Since most of the liquid products used have a degree of viscosity higher than that of the water used in washing machines, the diameters of these drainage holes are determined so that they allow water to pass but prevent the passage of these liquid products.

The washing machine 1 further comprises on the one hand a water injection system 24 of the known type, the nozzles 25, 26, 27 of which are schematically represented in FIG. 2, and on the other hand certain tanks of known type 28, 29 for products such as fabric softener, bleach etc ... The water injection system 24 controlled by a known type of programmer not shown, is mounted in the washing machine 1, opposite the universal boxes 9 and 10 and trays 28, 29 for products (Figures 1 and 2). This system 24 makes it possible to send a jet of water 32 through the nozzle 25 through the inlet 19 into the universal box 10, almost tangentially to the cylindrical wall 13 thereof, via the nozzle 26, a jet of water 33 through the inlet 18 in the universal box 9, almost tangentially to the cylindrical wall 12 thereof, by the two water nozzles 25, 26, resulting from the collision of the water jets 32 and 33 , and collected by a gutter 34, in the tank 29, and by the nozzle 27, a jet of water 35, through a hole 36 in the wall 37, in the tank 28.

The universal boxes 9 and 10 and the tanks 28, 29 being filled with their respective doses of products and placed in the operating position by closing the door 5, at a determined time in the washing cycle where the product in the universal box 9 for example must be distributed in the tank 3 of the machine 1, the 'nozzle 26 sends a jet of water 33 into the box 9. This jet of water, which is almost tangential to the cylindrical side wall 12, generates a movement circular flow of water and consequently creates a current which drives the pulverulent, liquid or pasty product in the box 9 in passing. The mixture of water and products, guided by the spout 20, pours into the tank 3 as soon as that its level exceeds the threshold 22 of the entry 18. In the universal box 9, this mixture being highly concentrated in products at the start of the water injection, is gradually diluted by the arrival of the water and by the evacuation of the mixture by overflow, and becomes, at the end of the operation, only ent water. The programmer stops the water jet 33, and the residual water remaining in the universal box 9 is evacuated through the hole 30 and falls into the tank 3.

The operation of the universal box 10 with the water jet 32 sent by the nozzle 25 is similar to that of the universal box 9, described above.

In certain cases where the viscosity of a liquid product used is high or a wet powdery product tends to stick to the can 9 or 10, it sometimes happens that the current of water created by the jet of water 33 or 32 is insufficiently swirling to be able to lift and drive the product effectively.

In other cases where the viscosity of a liquid product used is close to that of water, it happens that the water drainage hole 30 or 31 cannot effectively retain this product in the box 9 or 10 until 'at the time of its distribution.

The present invention makes it possible to avoid these drawbacks.

According to the invention in the universal boxes 9 and 10, on the path of the water currents created respectively by the water jets admitted 32,33 at least one deflector 40, 41 which diverts part of these water currents for direct it again against these currents in order to form eddies increasing the swirling action of lifting and entrainment of the products. The deflectors 40 and 41 consist of partitions fixed by at least one of their edges to one of the walls of the boxes 9 and 10, and the other edges remaining free projecting in these driving water streams.

In the example illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, the deflectors 40 and 41 are fixed by three of their edges against the cylindrical side walls 12 and 13 and the end walls 14, 15, 16, 17. The deflectors 40 and 41 can be located at any level of the path of the water currents created by the water jets 32, 33 without hindering the entry of these water jets into the boxes 9 and 10.

In the example illustrated, the deflectors 40 and 41 are fixed in the vicinity of the edge of the inlet openings 18, 19 of the boxes 9 and 10 on the upstream side of the driving water streams thereof.

According to the invention in boxes 9 and 10, the water drainage holes formed by holes drilled in the end walls 15 and 17 are eliminated. Siphoning devices 42, 43 are formed respectively in each of these boxes 9 and 10 upstream of an obstacle arranged in the path of the water currents created respectively by the admitted water jets 32, 33. In the example illustrated, this obstacle is constituted by one of the deflectors 40, 41. This obstacle or deflector creates eddies and an overpressure in the admitted water current which cause the water level to rise at this location of the boxes 9 and 10 and cause the priming of these siphoning devices. These siphoning devices comprise a pipe 44. 45, passing through the end wall 15, 17 and opening towards the outside, and a concentric bell 46, 47 covering it and providing an annular space for fluid flow around this pipe. liquid from the inside of these boxes 9 and 10 to the outside. These annular spaces and the central pipes 44, 45 respectively form drain siphons. The free upper ends of the pipes 44, 45 have a level greater than or equal to that of the thresholds 22, 23 of the inlets 18, 19 of the boxes 9 and 10 so that the maximum level of liquid retained by the siphoning devices 42 and 43 is equal to the level of liquid retained by these thresholds 22, 23 before it overflows.

The siphoning devices 42, 43 are thus placed in places where eddies are formed in the product-carrying water stream. The power of the eddies facilitates their priming even in the case where the products used are powdery or provided with a high viscosity. In the boxes 9 and 10, a combination of a deflector 40, 41 and a siphoning device 42, 43 makes it possible to give great efficiency to the operation of these boxes in universal boxes receiving either a pulverulent or liquid product whatever its degree of viscosity.

When the box 10 for example is filled with a dose of product, at the time of dispensing of this product, a water jet 32 injected through the inlet 19 forms a stream of water in which the deflector 41 creates violent eddies which contribute to increase the swirling action of entrainment of this current of water in other words to lift and entrain the product, and evacuate it by overflow over the threshold 23. Meanwhile at the place of the siphoning device 43 these eddies raise the water admitted to a level higher than that of the threshold 23 and of the free upper end of the pipe 45 and cause the priming of this siphoning device 43. The product thus also evacuates through this device.

Le fonctionnement de la boîte 9 est analogue au fonctionnement ci-dessus de la boîte 10.When the water jet 32 is cut, the siphoning continues through the device 43 to empty the box 10 and make it ready to receive a new dose of product. The operation of the box 9 is analogous to the above operation of the box 10.
