Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for electronic coin validation for the purpose of eliminating unsuitable coins and a coin validator for carrying out the method.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method for coin testing which eliminates unsuitable coins by a reliable method, and to create a coin validator to perform this procedure.
- the coin 4 inserted into the slot 1 of an automatic machine and guided between the side walls 2, 3 continues to roll on the inclined plane 5.
- the side walls are attached to the plate 6.
- the coin rolls over the rocker 7, which is under it Gives weight and thereby acts on the lever 8 on the hammer 9, which is pivotally mounted in the joint 10.
- the hammer strikes through the opening 11 in the side wall 3 against the coin 4 and causes it to vibrate.
- the hammer 9 is returned to its rest position by the spring 12.
- the coin then falls freely through the shaft 13. It passes through the microphone 14, which measures the frequency of its natural vibrations and supplies the measured value to the electronics 15. If this value lies within a selectable, permissible tolerance range of a specified guideline value entered in the electronics, this activates the magnet coil 16, the magnet core 17 is attracted and the sorting switch 18 opens the shaft 19 to an intermediate checkout.
- the coin validator has to be able to check the admissibility of different types of coins, especially of different sizes, whose oscillation frequencies naturally differ greatly, this can be done with the help of the induction validators 22. They record the size of the coin rolling past and, if the result is positive, send a signal to the electronics 15 in order to adjust it to the guideline value for sound measurement corresponding to the respective coin size.
- Fig. 3 shows a similar section as Fig.2, but with an electromagnetic stop device. Triggered by the rolling coin, the electronics 15 sends a pulse into the magnetic coil 23, the magnetic core 24 acting as a hammer is attracted and strikes the coin 4, causing it to vibrate. The further process is the same as that described for FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the counter-holder 25 is provided in order to support the coin when the magnetic core 24 stops. It is equipped with three bolts 26 penetrating the side wall 2 and withdrawn in the rest position. Simultaneously with the movement of the magnetic core 24, the counter-holder 25 is moved in the opposite sense, the bolts 26 emerge from the wall and support the coin against the stop.
- Such support of the coin can of course also be applied in the embodiment according to FIG.
- the hammer 9 can also be actuated electromagnetically there instead of mechanically, similar to the magnetic core 24 in FIG. 3.
- the coin validator 4 shows a different embodiment of the coin validator according to the invention.
- the coin tilts sideways, as indicated by arrow 27.
- the upper part 28 of the wall 2 is bulged and serves as a holder for the anvil 29. If the coin 4 now tilts, it hits the anvil and is set in motion in this way.
- the further process of sound measurement is the same as that described in the previous explanations.
- the coin can also be opened in another way.
- the coin may be sufficient let ze hit a wall at the end of a taxiway in order to make it swing.
- coin validator according to the invention can preferably be used for automatic machines, but also for other purposes, for example for sorting money in banks. Furthermore, several coin validators can be used side by side, which are tuned to different vibration frequencies and combined to form a structural unit.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for electronic coin validation for the purpose of eliminating unsuitable coins and a coin validator for carrying out the method.
In the case of machines with a coin slot, it is repeatedly attempted to insert counterfeit money or even non-embossed metal plates instead of the prescribed coin slot. A rough preliminary check is already achieved through the choice of the dimensions of the slot, but if different coins are permitted, this must of course be dimensioned for the passage of the largest. In order to prevent the machine from responding to the insertion of impermissible coins, various test devices have been developed in which a specific property or measurement size of the coin serves as a criterion. None of the known devices is really reliable and incorrect test results cannot always be avoided, with the result that good coins are occasionally eliminated or incorrect ones accepted. So far, the induction test has proven to be the best, but even this is not always sufficient.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method for coin testing which eliminates unsuitable coins by a reliable method, and to create a coin validator to perform this procedure.
This object is solved by the characterizing features of
It is a new idea to use the sound measurement of a vibrating coin to check its admissibility for an intended purpose. Since the natural vibrations of a coin generated by a stop or a turn-up depend on various influencing factors such as weight, thickness, size, material, embossing, etc., it is possible to determine a reliable guideline in each individual case by empirical means and to assign only narrow tolerance limits to them Exceeding a coin is unsuitable. This results in a very high level of security for the test results. In the event of damage (or damage), all inserted coins are directed into the excretion channel, which means e.g. a machine is put out of operation in a simple manner and is thus secured against unauthorized removal of goods.
- Fig. 1 die Seitenansicht eines mit Anschlag der Münze arbeitenden Münzprüfers bei abgehobener Seitenwand;
- Fig. 2 einen Schnitt durch den Münzprüfer nach der Linie II-II in Fig.1;
- Fig. 3 eine Variante zu Fig.2;
- 1 shows the side view of a coin validator working with the stop of the coin when the side wall is raised;
- 2 shows a section through the coin validator along the line II-II in Fig.1.
- 3 shows a variant of FIG. 2;
- Fig. 4 is a similar section to Figure 2 of a coin validator working with a surcharge.
According to FIGS. 1 and 2, the
The coin then falls freely through the
If a value lies outside the predetermined tolerance limit during the sound measurement by the
If the coin validator has to be able to check the admissibility of different types of coins, especially of different sizes, whose oscillation frequencies naturally differ greatly, this can be done with the help of the
If the
Fig. 3 shows a similar section as Fig.2, but with an electromagnetic stop device. Triggered by the rolling coin, the
A further detail can be seen from FIG. The
Der weitere Vorgang der Schallmessung ist der gleiche wie bei den vorhergehenden Ausführungen beschrieben.4 shows a different embodiment of the coin validator according to the invention. At the end of its taxiway, the coin tilts sideways, as indicated by
The coin can also be opened in another way. In some cases, for example, the coin may be sufficient let ze hit a wall at the end of a taxiway in order to make it swing.
It should also be noted that the coin validator according to the invention can preferably be used for automatic machines, but also for other purposes, for example for sorting money in banks. Furthermore, several coin validators can be used side by side, which are tuned to different vibration frequencies and combined to form a structural unit.
