Abstract

The drop stability of a pen employed in an ink-jet printer and having a plurality of nozzles (12) in a nozzle plate (10) is increased by increasing the viscosity of the ink. For inks comprising water/glycols, the increase in visco­ sity is easily accomplished by increasing the ratio of glycol to water. In one ink, a 20 % increase in glycol concentration resulted in a 50 % increase in viscosity and a decrease in the variation of angular misdirection by 43 %.
