Abstract
Description
Its generally flat and ordinarily round shape allows to qualify it as a "token".
The invention finds a particular application in payment systems for telephone services, such as in the system which is the subject of a patent application filed by Alain BERNARD on the day of filing of this application and entitled "System of payment for services by telephone ".
Acoustic coupler modems are known which are capable of emitting sounds through a small speaker. This, approached the microphone of a telephone handset, allows the transmission of these sounds over the telephone network. Another modem, located at the other end of the link, interprets the data it receives and establishes a connection, for example with a computer.
The CCITT (International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee) having defined, in its opinion Q23, a set of tones corresponding to the twelve digits and signs of the telephone keypad, it is possible to transmit these figures and signs using such modems.
There are thus numerous models of cases resembling pocket calculators, which make it possible to store telephone numbers and to transmit them over the telephone network.
In another field, encryption devices are also known, which make it possible to add to a digital signal a series of pseudo-random data evolving over time, so that the initial digital signal can only be found with knowledge of the data sequence and its evolution over time.
Finally, the identification of a person calling a computer connected to the telephone network is commonly done by asking this person to type on a keyboard a code number.
By way of example of this prior art, mention may be made of document US-A-4,601,011 which describes a device comprising means capable of forming a digital message, when a correct confidential code has been typed on a keyboard. This message changes over time thanks to a counter whose content is incremented with each use. This content partly determines the digital message sent over the telephone line.
Although it is satisfactory in certain respects, identifying a person by a code number has drawbacks because the code can be stolen. The other devices are complex and bulky, in particular because they require a keyboard. In the best of cases, the space is reduced to the size of a calculator. Furthermore, they are unable to define a period of validity, or, if you like, an expiration date.
The object of the present invention is precisely to remedy these drawbacks. To this end, it offers a very simple device of structure and use, without keyboard, emitting a digital message evolving over time, this device being capable of determining itself the instant when it is out of date in order to put itself definitively out of order.
- un émetteur acoustique ;
- un générateur de commande de l'émetteur acoustique, apte à engendrer des tonalités tombant dans la bande téléphonique ;
- une mémoire contenant un premier code d'identification et un second code ou clé de service liée au systéme téléphonique dans lequel le dispositif est utilisé ;
- un circuit électronique et logique relié à la mémoire et délivrant le message commandant le générateur, ce message dépendant du premier et du second codes, chaque nombre du message commandant le générateur pour l'émission d'une tonalité particulière par l'émetteur acoustique, l'émetteur acoustique émettant ainsi une séquence de tonalités ;
- b) une pile apte à alimenter le moyen apte à former le message ;
- an acoustic transmitter;
- an acoustic transmitter control generator, capable of generating tones falling into the telephone band;
- a) a means capable of forming a digital message formed of a series of numbers changing with each use of the device, this means also being capable of determining an expiration instant, this means comprising:
- a memory containing a first identification code and a second code or service key linked to the telephone system in which the device is used;
- an electronic and logic circuit connected to the memory and delivering the message controlling the generator, this message depending on the first and second codes, each number of the message controlling the generator for the emission of a particular tone by the acoustic transmitter, l acoustic transmitter thus emitting a sequence of tones;
- b) a battery capable of supplying the means capable of forming the message;
- c) a manually controlled switch capable of commissioning the generator to produce the emission of the sequence of tones.
According to a first embodiment, the device is characterized in that the means comprises a clock giving the date and determining the expiration time of the device, the message thus depending on the first and second codes and on the date indicated by the clock.
According to a second embodiment, the device is characterized in that the means comprises a counter whose content is incremented with each use, the message thus depending on the first and second codes and on the content of the counter.
Preferably, all of the means making up the device of the invention are sealed in a block of solid material, having the shape of a token. The switch is located on one side of the token and the speaker on the other.
The material used to constitute the block is preferably a resin or plastic.
When the device includes a clock, all the clocks of the different tokens are synchronized and set to the time during the manufacture of the token relative to a reference clock.
- FIG. 1 represents an electronic diagram of the device,
- Figure 2 shows the general appearance of the token.
As shown in FIG. 1, the device J comprises: an
Other embodiments are possible and within the reach of those skilled in the art such as for example counter devices whose counter is incremented. The main thing is to obtain information (date or number of uses) to identify the expiration time and modify the sequence issued.
With a clock and for example, if the date is marked in minutes, a period of 10 years represents 5,256,000 minutes which requires 7 digits (from 0 to 9). The lifetime of a token can be 6 months, or 262,800 minutes.
The
The electronic and
Convertis selon la norme Q23, ces 27 chiffres seront émis en environ 2,7 s.It suffices to indicate, by way of example, that the number N can comprise 8 digits (from 0 to 9), which represents 100 million possible tokens; key C can also include 8; you can also use 4 check digits (for example the sum of each of the numbers H, N and C and the sum of the set). This produces a message of 7 + 8 + 8 + 4 = 27 digits. Converted according to the Q23 standard, these 27 digits will be transmitted in approximately 2.7 s.
As a simple example, the sequence constituting the message can therefore be: 7 digits for the date H, 1 check digit for the sum of 9 of the previous 7 digits, 8 digits for the C key, 1 check digit for the sum at 9 of the previous 8 digits, 8 digits for the number N, 1 check digit for the sum at 9 of the previous 8 digits and 1 digit for the sum at 9 of the three check digits.
Naturally, much more complex sequences can be formed, using all the known encryption algorithms, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
When the message M is formed, the
When the
Most of the circuits (clock, memory, logic circuit) which are shown separated from each other in the accompanying drawing - and this for clarity - can be integrated into a single circuit. Likewise, the functions performed by these circuits can be obtained by programming a more efficient circuit such as a microprocessor or a controller.
In practice, all of the means shown can be molded in a resin or a plastic material to present the appearance of a token. The push button then appears on one of the faces of the token, the acoustic transmitter being arranged on the other. In operation, the token J is placed on the
La figure 2 montre l'allure générale du jeton J de l'invention, vue par la face avant où est disposé le haut-parleur 10 émettant la séquence sonore SQ (la face arrière, cachée, correspond au bouton poussoir).FIG. 2 shows the general appearance of the token J of the invention, seen from the front face where the
