- the blocking element escapes to the outside and thus increases the gap s with a reduction in the overpressure in the application chamber 9 associated therewith.
- the application chamber 9 there is generally an overpressure between 0.02 and 0.5 bar. This is partly dependent on the coating slip used, which can also be glue (in the case of glue, this application chamber is currently used to apply directly to the bare roller surface and only later transfer the glue mass to the web).

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a commissioned work according to the preamble of patent claim 1. Such a device has become known from US 46 888 516. According to FIG. 1 of this document, a leaf spring-like locking element grinds against the material web and for this purpose forms a small angle of at most 32 ° with it . However, this device cannot be satisfactory since there is a strong abrasion either from the paper or from this blocking element. It is also a very complicated structure of the entire device in the area of this locking element necessary so that excess coating slip can be removed from the application chamber.
The object of the invention is to avoid the grinding of a locking element on the counter roller or web and to design the entire device relatively simply or to minimize damage when brushing, with the smallest possible overflow amount via the gap between the locking element and counter roller or web Gap should be relatively small.
This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
It is achieved by the special arrangement of the resilient (or resiliently mounted or held) locking element that with an increasing overpressure in the application chamber, the gap formed between the free end edge of the locking element and the web or roller increases immediately, so that an increased amount of excess Spreading compound emerges from the application chamber via this gap, thus preventing the excess pressure in it from rising too sharply.
It is particularly advantageous to set the angle between the blocking element, which is preferably designed as a leaf spring, and the tangent to the web or roller in the area of the gap thereof, measured from the inside of the application chamber, between 95 and 70 °, preferably between 88 and 75 ° , is. This causes an immediate evasion of the locking element against the rising overpressure of the application chamber combined with a noticeable enlargement of the gap and this locking element is particularly effective. Because it is designed as a very thin leaf spring - thickness between 0.3 and 0.6 mm - damage or impairments of the web or roller when the blocking element is rubbed against the web or roller are not to be expected.

The parts shown in the cuts naturally extend essentially all along the roller axis at least over its length or the maximum width of the web of paper or cardboard. The same naturally also applies to the kink of the locking element described later, if it is designed continuously as a leaf spring, or both its resilient component and also for the gap s between the free end edge of the locking element and the roller W or the running web.
In Fig. 1 an applicator is shown, which is often referred to as a nozzle applicator, and accordingly a
In this case, the resilient locking element is designed as a leaf spring which is angled along a
The embodiment shown in Figure 1 is the preferred. Certain modifications are of course also possible. According to Figure 2, the locking element 6 'consists of two parts, namely a thin plate or
In theory, it would be possible, according to FIG. 3, to design the part 18 'of the locking element near the roller as a relatively thick strip. Then of course the leaf spring-like part 17 'would have to carry a relatively large weight. It is the case that the gap s should be as small as possible (at most 2 mm, preferably 1 mm), so that it is advantageous if the locking element designed as a leaf spring is quite thin, that is to say preferably between 0.2 and 0.4 mm thick is. This significantly reduces the risk of damage to the web or roller when brushing against it.
It appears to be advantageous if the free edge of the locking element 6, which is designed in the manner of a leaf spring, is covered with a
In this case, the
