Abstract
Description
The invention relates to footwear according to the preamble of claim 1.
There is waterproof but water vapor permeable membrane material that has been increasingly used in the past few years for the manufacture of waterproof garments. Due to its vapor permeability, it is pleasant to wear. Such membrane material consists, for example, of stretched polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), of polyester or of a microporous coating of polyurethane.
Recently, such membrane material has also been used for the manufacture of waterproof footwear. At least the shoe upper is lined with such membrane material on the inside, which is referred to in the following context as a "functional layer". A corresponding example is shown in the document EP-A2-0 080 710. The lining is usually formed by a lining in the form of a laminate which has the functional layer and, on the side facing the interior of the shoe, a textile layer.
With such constructions, however, the seams that arise as a result of the shoe upper being sewn to the lining and to the insole are problematic. The functional layer is perforated and permeable to water at the puncture points.
In order to overcome this problem, it is known to encapsulate the underside of the footwear or the insole and the lower region of the upper, which is lined with the functional layer and possibly sewn with the insole, with a rubber or plastic sole forming the outsole. The connecting seam between the shaft and the lining and the insole is separated from the rubber or plastic sole locked in. The shaft usually consists of leather or a textile fabric, for example synthetic fibers.
The molded plastic sole seals the interface between the functional layer on the one hand and the upper and insole on the other hand against direct contact with water. However, the shaft materials mentioned have the property that they conduct water in their longitudinal extent, which is particularly true for leather shafts. Capillary effects are involved in this flow of water. So if the shaft area not covered by the plastic sole gets wet, the water creeps along the shaft due to this longitudinal conduction effect to the seam located inside the molded plastic sole, where it can then penetrate the functional layer at the seam holes.
The functional layer is usually located within a laminate which is coated with a protective textile on the side facing the shaft and with a lining material on the inside facing. In the usual mass production of shoes, it can hardly be avoided with economically justifiable effort that water bridges occur at the lower end of the shaft and lining. These can be formed by threads which protrude from the cut-off lining part and extend over the cut-off end of the functional layer over to the shaft material. Especially if the upper material is made of textile fabric, there is a risk that the end of the shaft and the end of the lining are not cut off at exactly the same height, so that threads or parts of the textile upper material bridge the cut end of the functional layer and form a moisture bridge up to the lining of the footwear.
The lining material lining the functional layer on the inside of the shoe is usually absorbent and water-conducting. The water that has penetrated along the shaft and passes through the seam and / or the aforementioned water bridges then crawls along the lining into the interior of the shoe.
In order to overcome this problem, it is known from the document EP-B1-0 298 360 to use a waterproof footwear that has a shaft, a lining lining the shaft with a waterproof and water vapor-permeable microporous functional layer, one on its circumference with the lower one End section of the lining sewn insole and an outsole molded from a waterproof plastic onto the lower region of the shaft. The lower shaft area located in the outsole area is sewn with a porous material that can be penetrated by the plastic of the outsole material that is liquid during injection. In this known footwear, the actual upper material in the sole area is cut in such a way that it ends at a distance from the lower end of the lining. The end of the actual shaft material is connected to the insole and the lower end of the lining via a connecting material formed by the porous material, the porous connecting material having one end with the actual shaft material, but not with the lining, and the other end with the lining and with the insole is sewn over a seam.
This known footwear can be produced using a method also known from the document EP-B1-0 298 360. The lining is provided with a waterproof and water vapor-permeable microporous functional layer, then the lower end of the actual shaft material is brought to a height distance from the lower end of the lining and extended with the porous material as a connecting material. Then the lining and the end of the porous connecting material lying away from the actual upper material are sewn together at their lower ends via a seam and with the circumference of an insole. Finally, the plastic outsole is molded on.
According to FIG. 1 , a shoe of the type known from EP-B1-0 298 360 has a shaft S, which consists, for example, of leather or a textile fabric, preferably of plastic. The inside of the shaft S is lined with a laminate L, which takes on the function of an inner lining and a waterproof and water vapor permeable Has functional layer or membrane M, which is lined on the side facing the shaft S with a textile fabric T and on the side facing the shoe interior with lining material F. The lining material and the textile fabric T form a mechanical protection for the functional layer M. At its lower end, the composite of the shaft S and the laminate L is sewn to the edge of an insole B, the seam being denoted by N. A sole K made of a suitable waterproof plastic is molded onto the underside of the insole B and the lower region of the upper S sewn to it. The upper edge O of the sole K is so high that the seam N is enclosed by the sole K. The seam N is thus sealed against water that strikes directly.
However, water that strikes the area of the shaft S lying outside the sole K can reach along the shaft on the inside of the sole K up to the seam, penetrate seam holes in the functional layer M there and reach the interior of the shoe.
In a known footwear shown in FIG. 2 , the upper S does not extend to the insole B, but the lower end of the upper is at a distance from the edge of the insole. This distance is bridged with a perforated or porous connecting material V. The outer edge of the connecting material V is sewn onto the inner edge of the shaft S with a first seam N1. However, the laminate L is not sewn to the shaft S at this point. The other end of the connecting material V is sewn together with the inner end of the laminate L to the insole B by means of a second seam N2.
The porous connecting material V is preferably realized as a mesh band made of monofilament synthetic fibers. It has proven particularly favorable to choose a mesh size of at least 1.5 mm. Polyamide or polyester are preferred materials for the synthetic fiber.
When the sole K is molded on, liquid sole material passes through the pores or holes or meshes of the connecting material V. on the outside of the laminate L, whereby the seam holes of the second seam N2 are sealed with the sole plastic.
Characterized in that the lower shaft area is formed by holes or porous connecting material V attached to the actual shaft, water guided by the actual shaft cannot reach the area connecting the shaft, lining and insole, so that even water bridges through the seam and formed by the functional layer bridging threads or pieces of textile, can not affect because the water directed from the actual shaft can not get to them.
Although this footwear and the method described for its manufacture have proven successful with regard to a wide variety of utility shoes, new problems arise when footwear in the toe area is to be reinforced by a solid protective cap, for example made of steel or a thermoplastic.
With a protective shoe with a protective cap, this known principle cannot be used in the toe area, because after the protective cap has been inserted, the upper material is very taut, and a strobel machine used for sewing can no longer grip, in order to sew the connecting material onto the lining or the insole to effect.
Instead, with a protective shoe, the lining is conventionally stroked onto the insole on the front shoe upper, then the protective cap is inserted between the lining and the upper material, and then the upper material is coated with glue on the underside and on the top by hand and glued to the insole.
The object of the invention is to provide footwear with a protective cap according to the preamble of claim 1, which can be produced in a particularly simple and inexpensive manner.
FIG. 3 shows a bottom view of a footwear according to the invention which has not yet been provided with an outsole and which has the same structure in the midfoot area and in the heel area as the footwear shown in FIG. 2 . In the footwear shown in FIG. 3 , the insole has two separate insole parts, namely a rear insole part B1 in the midfoot and heel area and a front insole part B2 in the toe area. The insole part B2 can be seen in the toe area within the shaft material S which extends down to the underside of the shoe. The footwear has a fixed protective cap SK which is arranged in the toe area between the shaft S and the laminate L and is made of material which is as pressure and impact resistant as possible, and whose area on the outsole side, which can be seen in FIG. 3, engages under the insole part B2 on its outside to a predetermined width. The laminate L facing the interior of the shoe consists of the toe area two laminate flap parts that are assembled on the inside of the insole part B2 with a seam SN to form a partial sock (partial "bootie"). In the toe area, the shaft material S is guided over the protective cap SK and connected to the outside of the insole part B2 by means of a gusseted joint KN.
The front insole part B2 is located between the laminate L and the area of the protective cap SK which overlaps the insole part B2 in order to protect the laminate L from mechanical damage by the protective cap SK. The insole part B2 is glued to the outside of the laminate. The edge of the partial sock facing the midfoot area is connected to the insole part B1 via a seam N2 ', which can be a sewing seam.
The two insole parts B1 and B2 can be made of different materials: the insole part B1 made of non-woven material, the insole part B2 made of harder material, such as leather, cardboard or wood.
The entire insole can also be formed in one piece, wherein it consists of a solid material suitable for the toe area. In this case, the seam N2 'is formed as an adhesive seam.
FIG. 4 shows a cross-sectional view through the toe region of the footwear shown in FIG. 3 . From this it can be seen that the protective cap SK is located between the shaft S and the laminate partial socks. The partial sock can be composed of two laminate flaps, which are connected by a sock seam SN. It is advantageous to seal this sock seam SN against water by applying a waterproof adhesive welding tape KSB on the underside of the partial sock.
The partial sock can also be constructed with a flap which is adapted to the contour of the toe region of the footwear and which is connected by means of a seam to the laminate lining the toe region of the upper is. In this case, too, the seam is sealed against water using adhesive sweatband.
Depending on whether the footwear according to the invention is constructed with a one-piece insole or with two separate insole parts, different manufacturing processes are recommended.
In both cases, a band-shaped connecting material V, preferably in the form of a network composed of monofilament fibers, is connected to the outsole-side edge of the upper in the midfoot and heel area along the edge. Then a laminate cut corresponding to the shape of the upper is produced, the toe area of which is then closed on the outsole side by means of a laminate piece in the form of a sock. This piece of laminate can either be formed by two laminate flaps connected to the laminate blank, which are connected to each other to form a partial laminate sock by means of a waterproof seam, which corresponds to the embodiment shown in FIG. 3 . However, the laminate piece can also be formed by a laminate part corresponding to the toe area contour of the footwear, which is connected to the laminate blank by means of a waterproof seam.
After formation of such a laminate partial sock, a process step then follows, which depends on whether a one-part or a two-part insole is used.
If a two-part insole is used, the free edge of the connecting material and the edge of the outsole ropes of the partial sock facing the midfoot area are now connected to the first insole part B1. The second insole part B2 is then connected to the outsole cables of the partial sock.
In the case of using a one-piece insole, on the one hand the toe area of the insole becomes the outsole side of the partial sock and on the other hand the free edge of the connecting material and the edge of the outsole side of the partial sock facing the midfoot area is connected to the insole.
In both cases, i.e. both when using a one-piece insole and when using a two-piece insole, the protective cap SK is now placed in the toe area between the shaft S and the laminate L in such a way that its underside facing the outsole K has the peripheral edge of the insole under the outsole side. Subsequently, the outsole end of the shaft S is connected in the toe area to the outsole cables of the second insole part B2 or the one-piece insole. This is followed by the injection of the outsole.
