Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Auslegung der Vorrichtung kann durch die Anordnung von vier in Umfangsrichtung beabstandeten Erwärmungseinheiten der Erwärmungseinrichtung erreicht werden, daß bei einer Weiterdrehbewegung des die Erwärmungseinheiten tragenden Trägers um einen Winkelbereich von nur 90° die um die Packguteinheit gelegte Schrumpffolie insgesamt in der bestimmungsgemäßen Weise durch die Wärmeeinwirkung der Erwärmungseinheiten zum Schrumpfen gebracht werden kann. Hierdurch läßt sich eine beträchtliche Leistungssteigerung der Vorrichtung bis ca. 40 % erreichen, so daß man beispielsweise etwa 350 Schrumpfungen pro Stunde mit Hilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung durchführen kann. Der bei der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung benötigte Energieaufwand ist kaum nennenswert größer als beispielsweise gegenüber Vorrichtungen, welche nur zwei gegenüberliegende Erwärmungseinheiten haben, da die Erwärmungseinheiten bei der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung wesentlich kürzer als bei zwei gegenüberliegenden Erwärmungseinheiten in Betrieb sind. Die Packguteinheit 2, deren Schrumpffolie 3 auf dem Bewegungsweg von 90° in Uhrzeigerrichtung aufgeschrumpft worden ist, wird dann mit Hilfe der schematisch dargestellten Fördereinrichtung aus der Vorrichtung 1 zum Warmschrumpfen herausbewegt. Wesentlich hierfür ist, daß wenigstens vier in Umfangsrichtung beabstandet angeordnete Erwärmungseinheiten 8 am Träger 4 angeordnet sind, welche die Erwärmungseinrichtung 7 bilden. Insbesondere kann die Gestalt der jeweiligen Erwärmungseinheit 8 auch abweichend von dem dargestellten Beispiel gewählt werden, wobei diese Gestalt hauptsächlich von dem Außenumriß der Packguteinheit 2 abhängig ist. Beim dargestellten Beispiel ist die Vorrichtung 1 im Zusammenhang mit einer Packguteinheit 2 in Form einer Palette erläutert. Werden andere Packgutformen gewählt, so können die Erwärmungseinheiten 8 in entsprechender Weise hinsichtlich ihrer Gestalt hierauf abgestimmt werden.
