Definitions
- the invention relates to a cartridge for refilling ink or the like in a print cartridge of an ink jet printer. With an ink supply chamber.
- the chamber as a cartridge form, which essentially consists of a cylindrical sleeve consists of a detachable cap at one end and other end is closed with a stopper.
- this print cartridge becomes a device used for filling a print cartridge.
- This device is with an upper part provided, which has a cannula that on the one hand into the Print cartridge is inserted and the other hand when attaching the cartridge containing the ink supply through the Is inserted into the cartridge. So that Ink in the cartridge will leak into the print cartridge the cap opposite the stopper is loosened, so that the cartridge is open.
- the known type is in particular the use of a cannula disadvantageous when Attach the cartridge to penetrate the stopper.
- the invention has for its object a cartridge trained in such a way that their handling is simple without any significant risk of leakage is given by ink.
- the chamber as a film bag is formed, which is surrounded by a fixed housing and which is provided with a hollow needle, which consists of protrudes from the housing and its free end with a rubber-elastic, sealing element which can be pierced by the hollow needle is provided, which by means of a shielding the hollow needle and to expose the free end of the hollow needle in Longitudinal direction of the hollow needle movable holding element is held is.
- the rubbery Sealing element has the advantage that it is of the Hollow needle is only pierced without being in the sealing element a hole is punched. Will the holding element brought back into the closed position with the sealing element, the puncture in the sealing element closes largely so that the cartridge can be removed without that ink drops come out.
- the Use of the foil bag has the advantage that this emptied without a ventilation opening or the like. exposed must become.
- the housing surrounding the foil bag ensures that the film bag is not from the outside with compressive forces is loaded by the operator so that the ink does not come out of the foil bag with pressure.
- the holding element held in position by means of a spring element is in which the sealing element is the free end of the hollow needle closes. This ensures that the hollow needle the sealing element does not accidentally puncture, but rather only when a defined force is applied with which the force of the spring element is overcome.
- the holding element in by means of releasable locking elements the position in which the free end of the Hollow needle is exposed. This ensures that the operator the cartridge when filling a print cartridge does not have to hold pressed against the spring force.
- the locking elements make sure the open position is maintained so that the operator can remove the cartridge can let go. Because the locking elements on the other hand are releasable, the spring element effects after releasing the locking elements, that the holding element with the sealing element takes up the closed position again, so that afterwards at Lessening the leakage of ink largely prevented becomes.
- the cartridge 10 has a cuboid housing Plastic, which is assembled from two shells 11, 12, which are connected to each other in the area of the narrow sides.
- a film bag 13 is accommodated in the interior of the housing 11, 12, the one chamber for receiving an ink supply forms.
- An insert 14 is in an edge of the foil bag 13 welded, in which a hollow needle 15 is attached.
- the hollow needle 15 has an outer diameter of approximately 1 mm. The hollow end of the hollow needle 15 protrudes from the foil bag 13 and from the housing 11, 12 in the area of a Narrow side of the housing 11, 12 out.
- the insert 14 is provided with a flange 16 which is form-fitting between an end wall of the housing 10, 11 and integrally formed on the flange 16 held approaches is.
- the part of the hollow needle protruding from the housing 11, 12 15 is surrounded by a cup-shaped holding element 18 which a disc-shaped or plate-shaped sealing element 19 made of elastic material in the area of his bottom holds.
- the sealing element 19 closes in the initial state (left side of Fig. 2) the free end of the hollow needle 15, which is preferably slightly pressed into the sealing element 19 is.
- On the bottom of the pot-shaped holding element opposite side is the sealing element 19 supported by a plate 20 which with a hollow needle 15 surrounding guide sleeve 21 is provided.
- the guide sleeve 21 surrounds the hollow needle 15 with a relatively narrow Game so that it forms an additional seal.
- a compression spring 22 is arranged between the insert 14 and the plate 20, a compression spring 22 is arranged.
- the cup-shaped holding element 18 is part-cylindrical Guide approaches 23 of the housing 10, 11 out, the project outwards from the end face of the housing 11, 12.
- the pot-shaped holding element 18 On the open side of the pot-shaped holding element 18 connect two fingers 24, each through a slot 25 of the housing 11, 12 protrude into the interior thereof.
- the Fingers 24 are provided with locking lugs 26 which are in the starting position (Fig. 2, left) inside on the front wall of the housing 11, 12 are present.
- the cup-shaped holding element 18 is in the longitudinal direction Hollow needle 15 on the guide lugs 23 in the interior of the Housing 10, 11 slidable therein, the force of the Compression spring 22 is overcome and the sealing element 19 is pierced must become.
- the displacement movement of the holding element 18 in the direction of the housing interior is limited by that the edge 28 of the cup-shaped holding element against creates the outside of the end wall of the housing 11, 12.
- the side walls of the housing 11, 12 are with molded stops 29 provided which engage behind the locking lugs 26 of the fingers 24, so that the position of the holding element is locked is in which the free end of the hollow needle 15 is exposed.
- the cartridge 10 is used to fill a print cartridge the substantially cylindrical holding member 18 in one Device 33 used from above, in Fig. 2 below is indicated by dash-dotted lines.
- the device 33 has a guide recess adapted to the holding element 18. In the In the middle of the guide recess there is an upstanding one Approach 34 which is somewhat in its outer diameter smaller than the diameter of a central hole 32 in the bottom of the holding element 18.
- the projection 34 forms one Abutment for the sealing element 19.
- the cartridge 10 is then pressed further down so that the hollow needle 15 the Punctures sealing element and penetrates into a bore 35, whose inside diameter is slightly larger than the outside diameter the hollow needle 15.
- This bore 35 can for example be another hollow needle that goes inside a print cartridge, not shown.
- the cartridge 10 is pressed down until the edge 28 of the holding element 18 strikes against the end face of the housing 11, 12 and lock the detents 26 with the stops 29.
- the operator can then release the cartridge 10 and wait for the contents of the foil pouch 13 to empty Has.
- the film bag 13 releases the ink it contains, without exerting pressure on him from outside and without that an opening of a ventilation opening or the like. of the foil pouch 13 is necessary.
- the release tabs 31 are pressed so that the locking lugs 26 of the fingers 24 are moved away from the stops 29.
- the compression spring 22 then presses the housing 11, 12 back up until the locking lugs 26 on the inside of the end wall of the housing 11, 12 strike.
- the sealing element 29 then almost closes over the free end of the hollow needle 15 completely, so that the cartridge 10 is then removed without the risk of ink dripping consists.
- the content of the film bag 13 is usually dimensioned in such a way that that it is slightly less than the maximum amount of ink, that can hold a print cartridge.
- the foil bag 13 can practically completely empty itself. Even if the film bag 13 is not yet removed when the cartridge 10 is removed should have been completely empty, for example because refilling has been done even though the print cartridge was not completely empty, there is no risk of a Leakage of ink since the sealing element 19 when removed the cartridge 10 the free end of the hollow needle 15 again closes.
