Abstract

The element (1) is in the form of a strip or wire of Barkhausen material (2), that for a specific length generates a characteristic signal when located in a magnetic field. Sections (3) of soft magnetic material are set on the surface with a specific spacing, so that their stray magnetic fields are coupled to the strip of Barkhausen material.

Description

The invention relates to an element for electronic article surveillance or for the sensor technology, consisting of a strip-shaped or wire-shaped Barkhausen material of length L, which is in an external magnetic Alternating field is excited to emit a characteristic signal, and a soft magnetic material that the Barkhausen material assigned.

Elements made of Barkhausen material - also called pulse wires - are both for electronic article surveillance as well as for so-called pulse wire sensors in sensor technology. They are characterized by an almost rectangular Hysteresis curve, i.e. the magnetic reversal in an external magnetic Alternating field occurs almost suddenly, as soon as the field of excitation has reached the predetermined threshold. For electronic article surveillance suitable elements are described, for example, in US 4,247,601 US 4,660,025, EP 0 309 679 B1 and EP 0 762 354 A1.

The sudden magnetic reversal of wire-shaped or strip-shaped Barkhausen materials in an external alternating field is the result of one pronounced uniaxial anisotropy along the longitudinal axis of the wire or the strip. This anisotropy suppresses bothersome Turning processes during the magnetic reversal process as well as the formation of terminating domain structures before reaching the panel strength - would but the formation of appropriate structures to round off the Hysteresis curve and thus a deterioration in the switching characteristics to lead.

The one required to form a distinctly rectangular hysteresis curve Anisotropy can have different causes. Are from the patent literature Methods become known, the voltage-induced (US-PS 4,660,025) or use magnetic field-induced anisotropies (EP 0 762 354 A1). Everyone Common to methods, however, is that to support induced Anisotropy A pronounced shape anisotropy is necessary to achieve this to achieve pronounced switching behavior. A shortening of the rule elongated strips or wires cause a decrease in shape anisotropy and an increase in the demagnetizing effect, causing the Rectangular shape of the hysteresis curve is reduced.

An increase in intrinsic anisotropy, as for example in EP 0 762 354 A1 for short labels, the acceptance of the Shape anisotropy or the increase in the demagnetization factor at least partially compensate; at the same time, however, it would increase the Switchgear panel strength, leading to use in electronic systems Article security is undesirable.

Alternative solutions have already become known from the patent literature, like the demagnetizing field in the end areas of the Barkhausen material, that causes the unwanted magnetic reversal processes, can be suppressed. So in EP 0 710 923 A2 a magnetic Marker element described, which is made of a thin magnetic wire consists of Barkhausen material, in its two end areas two soft magnetic Platelets are arranged, which have a smaller coercive force than the wire made of Barkhausen material. To increase the pulse height the platelets cover the ends of the strips and preferably protrude towards all of them Sides over the ends.

It has become known from EP 0 762 354 A1, an amorphous band or an amorphous wire made of Barkhausen material as a security element for the to use electronic article surveillance. To increase the pulse height is the amorphous material at least one further strip of soft magnetic Material associated with which is preferably the ends of the amorphous Material towers.

Both solutions of the prior art have the disadvantage that they are not suitable for continuous production of tapes from which later Labels of different lengths can be punched. The reason is that the soft magnetic strips can be positioned at the ends of the labels must, however, the position usually not during production is determinable.

The invention has for its object a cost-effective element for to propose electronic article surveillance or for sensor technology, the does not have the aforementioned disadvantages.

The object is achieved in that the soft magnetic material individual sections of a predetermined length, which in one predetermined distance from each other, and that the sections the soft magnetic material with respect to the Barkhausen material are positioned that the magnetic stray fields generated by them with the Coupling magnetization of the Barkhausen material.

The stray field coupling stabilizes the biased causes wire-like or strip-like Barkhausen material. Through the Arrangement of the soft magnetic sections along the strip-shaped or wire-shaped Barkhausen material becomes the inner field of the element reduced, and not only - as described in the prior art - in the End areas. This will - as will be explained in more detail below - Actual switching range is stabilized in a targeted manner until the intrinsic switching field strength is reached, which is ultimately due to induced anisotropies and thus is determined by the domain wall mobility.

Since in the solution according to the invention covering the ends of the wire or strip-shaped Barkhausen material is not required, the corresponding securing elements can be used as continuous straps manufacture. From the tapes, labels can then be created for each Use case length are punched out.

A particularly favorable process for the production of the invention Securing elements are described in DE 196 31 852 A1. Relates the method known from this prior art relates to the Manufacture of deactivatable soft magnetic strip elements; replaced but the activatable soft magnetic material of the German Disclosure by strip or wire Barkhausen material and through the semi-hard or hard magnetic deactivator material soft magnetic material, the method that has become known is analog transferable to the manufacture of the securing elements according to the invention. The disclosure content of DE 196 31 852 A1 is hereby expressly included in the Description of the present invention included.

Of course, the element according to the invention for article security or the sensor technology also known after all others process for the production of deactivatable strip elements are manufactured. The manufacturing process should also be mentioned here, which is described in EP 0 680 011 A1.

To couple the sections of the soft magnetic material with the To optimize Barkhausen material, the sections of the arrange soft magnetic material on the Barkhausen material.

According to a preferred embodiment of the element according to the invention provided that the sections of the soft magnetic material and the Barkhausen material have essentially the same width. Will continue suggested that the sections of the soft magnetic material in the essentially evenly distributed over the length of the Barkhausen material are.

For use as pulse wires in sensors, the invention has Element the advantage that the ends are not covered. This will make it possible, the distance between the actual sensor and the field source to keep low. Especially with such sensors, but increasingly Dimensions also for elements for electronic article surveillance (especially for small articles) is an embodiment of the invention Switching element to be regarded as particularly favorable, in which - as already mentioned - The length of the strip-shaped or wire-shaped Barkhausen material is chosen relatively low. By coordinating the length, the distance and the permeability of the sections of the soft magnetic material can be the characteristic signal of the element for the respective length of the Optimize Barkhausen material. So it enables the invention Solution, the length of known from the prior art Shorten Barkhausen elements by about half without the Panel strength increase dramatically. This inevitably leads to considerable Material savings, which is why the securing elements according to the invention are relatively inexpensive. This is also supported by the previous ones described simple and inexpensive methods of manufacturing.

Can be deactivated around the fuse or sensor elements according to the invention To design, an advantageous training suggests that sections a semi-hard or hard magnetic material are provided, which in immediate vicinity of the Barkhausen material and the sections of the soft magnetic Material are arranged.

An embodiment of an element according to the invention that can be deactivated before that the sections of soft magnetic material and the sections of the semi-hard or hard magnetic material along the length of the Barkhausen material are arranged alternately in succession.

According to an advantageous development of the element according to the invention for electronic article surveillance or sensor technology is provided that the sections of the soft magnetic material and the sections of the semi-hard or hard magnetic material and the Barkhausen material in have essentially the same width.

Through targeted optimization of the permeability P, the length a and the Distance b of the sections 3 of the soft magnetic material can do that Switching behavior also decided relatively short Barkhausen elements 1 can be improved without an undesirable increase in intrinsic panel strength would be necessary. As an intrinsic switching field strength is the switching field strength of an "infinitely" long Barkhausen element designated.

A deactivatable embodiment of the element 1 according to the invention is shown in FIG Fig. 4 can be seen in cross section. On the strip-shaped Barkhausen material 2 are at a distance b from each other sections 3 of length a made of soft magnetic Material arranged. Under the striped Barkhausen material 2 sections 4 of a semi-hard or hard magnetic material are arranged. Sections 4 are used in a known manner to deactivate the Fuse element 1. Is such a high on the fuse element 1 Magnetic field applied that the sections 4 of the semi-hard or hard magnetic Materials are driven to saturation, so they prevent subsequently a reaction of the Barkhausen material 2 to the outside magnetic query field H.

Damit hat auch das kurze Barkhausenelement 1 eine rechteckförmige Hysteresekurve und zeigt folglich das gewünschte Schaltverhalten bei Anlegen eines äußeren magnetischen Wechselfeldes H.Fig. 5 shows a schematic representation of the switching behavior of the Elements 1 according to the invention for electronic article surveillance or for the sensor technology. While the strip or wire Barkhausen material 2 taken by itself the already mentioned several times has a rectangular hysteresis curve, the hysteresis curve has Sections 3 of the soft magnetic material have a typically sheared shape. The solution according to the invention is characterized in that a strip-like or wire-like Barkhausen material 2 of short length L is used. Without those arranged on the Barkhausen material 2 Sections 3 of the soft magnetic material would change the hysteresis curve into Fig. 1 shown rounded shape (hysteresis curve II). Through the regular arrangement of the sections 3 of the soft magnetic material Barkhausen material 2 becomes prestressed Barkhausen material 2 stabilized due to stray field coupling. That also has the short Barkhausen element 1 shows a rectangular hysteresis curve and consequently shows the desired switching behavior when applying an external magnetic Alternating field H.
