Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Monofilament für den Einsatz in technischen Textilien, insbesondere in Papiermaschinenbespannungen, aus einem Kunststoffmaterial mit einem Hauptbestandteil Polytrimethylenterephthalat (PTMT) und wenigstens einem Zusatzbestandteil und ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Zusatzbestandteil ein Polyamid oder eine Mischung aus mehreren Polyamid-Typen ist. Die Erfindung bezieht sich ferner auf eine Papiermaschinenbespannung mit den vorgenannten Monofilamenten.

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Monofilament für den Einsatz in technischen Textilien, insbesondere in Papiermaschinenbespannungen, aus einem Kunststoffmaterial mit einem Hauptbestandteil Polytrimethylenterephthalat (PTMT) und wenigstens einem Zusatzbestandteil.
Für technische Textilien werden in vielen Fällen Monofilamente als Fäden eingesetzt, aus denen Gewebe, Gewirke oder Fadengelege etc. hergestellt werden. Entweder besteht das technische Textil aus solchen Geweben oder Gewirken oder Fadengelegen, oder diese bilden einen Träger für Beschichtungen, aufgenadelte Faservliese oder dergleichen. Besondere technische Textilien sind endlose Laufbänder - mit oder ohne Naht -, die in Maschinen umlaufen. Hierzu gehören Papiermaschinenbespannungen, die der Bildung und dem Transport der Papierbahn durch die einzelnen Teile der Papiermaschine dienen, nämlich dem Formierbereich, der Pressen- und der Tockenpartie. Dabei sind die Papiermaschinenbespannungen für die einzelnen Teile der Papiermaschine unterschiedlich gestaltet.
Für das Kunststoffmaterial sind in der Vergangenheit verschiedene Vorschläge gemacht worden. Bei Papiermaschinenbespannungen werden seit langem Polyester- oder Polyamid-Typen eingesetzt, bei letzteren vornehmlich Polyamid 6-Typen (vgl. DE-A-44 10 399). In jüngerer Zeit sind Vorschläge gemacht worden, auch Polyamid 11 oder Polyamid 12-Typen zu verwenden (vgl. japanische Anmeldeveröffentlichung 60-52616), und zwar sowohl für das Trägergewebe als auch für die Fasern der aufgenadelten Faserschichten (vgl. EP-A-0 070 708; EP-A-0 372 769). Zuvor war auch schon vorgeschlagen worden, Monofilamente aus einem Kern beispielsweise aus Polyamid 6.6 oder Polyehtylenterephthalat und einem Mantel aus Polyamid 11 oder 12 herzustellen (vgl. EP-A-0 070 708).
Zur Verbesserung der Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen in Papiermaschinen auftretenden, chlorhaltigen Substanzen sind Papiermaschinenbespannungen konzipiert worden, bei denen die Fäden des Trägergewebes aus Polybutylenterephthalat und das aufgenadelte Faservlies aus Polyethylenterephthalat bestehen. Da die mechanischen Eigenschaften des letzteren Materials schlechter sind als die von Polyamid, ist die Verwendung von Polytrimethylenterephthalat (PTMT), auch Polypropylenterephthalat genannt, vorgeschlagen worden (vgl. US-A-5,137,601), und zwar sowohl für die Monofilamente des Trägergewebes als auch für die Fasern einer eventuellen Faservliesauflage. Diesem Material werden die gleiche chemische Beständigkeit wie dem Polybutylen- und dem Polyethylenterephthalat zugeschrieben, jedoch zusätzlich ähnliche mechanische Eigenschaften wie Polyamid 6, insbesondere bezüglich der Elastizität und des Abriebwiderstandes. Hinsichtlich der thermischen Widerstandsfähigkeit soll dieses Material besser sein als Polyamid 6.
Daneben ist auch versucht worden, die guten Eigenschaften des Polyesters, insbesondere von Polyethylenterephthalat mit erheblich verbessertem Abriebverhalten zu vereinen (vgl. DE-A-44 10 399). Hierzu ist vorgeschlagen worden, dem Polyester ein thermoplastisches Polyurethan zuzumischen.
Eine Weiterentwicklung auf Basis Polytrimethylenterephthalat ist der EP-A-0 844 320 zu entnehmen. Sie offenbart ein Monofilament, das nur teilweise, wenn auch als Hauptbestandteil Polytrimethylenterephthalat enthält, das zwecks Erhöhung der Abriebfestigkeit mit Polyurethan, insbesondere elastomerem Polyurethan, vermischt ist. Es hat sich jedoch gezeigt, daß bei der Verarbeitung von Monofilamenten aus PTMT-Material zu Geweben oder Gewirken erhebliche Probleme auftreten. Es kommt zu Ungleichmäßigkeiten und Verzügen. Es wurde festgestellt, daß der Grund hierfür die hohe Elastizität der PTMT-Monofile ist, obwohl in der US-A-5,137,601 dieses Elastizitätsverhalten als günstig für die Herstellbarkeit angegeben ist. Das Elastizitätsverhalten ändert sich auch nicht durch die in der EP-A-0 844 320 vorgeschlagene Beimischung von Polyurethan.
Der Erfindung liegt demgemäß die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Kunststoffmaterial zu finden, das einerseits die günstigen chemischen und mechanischen Eigenschaften von PTMT hat, sich andererseits aber wesentlich besser zu Geweben oder Gewirken verarbeiten läßt und damit die Herstellung gleichmäßiger und verzugsfreier Textilbahnen zuläßt.
Diese Aufgabe wird durch eine Monofilament aus einem Kunststoffmaterial mit einem Hauptbestandteil PTMT gelöst, bei dem erfindungsgemäß der Zusatzbestandteil ein Polyamid oder eine Mischung aus mehreren Polyamid-Typen ist. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß ein Monofilament aus einem solchen Kunststoffmaterial wesentlich besser zu Geweben, Gewirken oder dergleichen beispielsweise für Papiermaschinenbespannungen verarbeitet werden kann. Ursache hierfür ist der Umstand, daß die Elastizität des Monofilaments durch die Polyamidbeimengung erheblich herabgesetzt wird. Dabei hat sich - mit Blick auf die US-A-5,137,601 überraschenderweise - gezeigt, daß die chemische Beständigkeit insbesondere gegen chlorhaltige Substanzen durch die Polyamidbeimengung nicht wesentlich leidet. Noch überraschender ist, daß ein Festigkeitsgewinn erzielbar ist, der über den Festigkeitswerten der Einzelkomponenten - PTMT einerseits und Polyamid andererseits - liegt. Dies eröffnet die Möglichkeit, technische Textilien gleicher Zugfestigkeit mit Monofilamenten geringeren Querschnitts herzustellen und hierdurch Kosten und Gewicht einzusparen.
Als Zusatzbestandteil kommen grundsätzlich alle Polyamid-Typen in Frage, also auch die Polyamid 6-Typen, obwohl sie eine relativ hohe Wasseraufnahme haben. Da die Wasseraufnahme von PTMT sehr gering ist, kommt die höhere Wasseraufnahmefähigkeit von Polyamid 6-Typen nicht wesentlich zum Tragen. Noch bessere Eigenschaften lassen sich allerdings durch die Beimischung von Polyamid 11 und/oder Polyamid 12 erreichen, da sich diese Polyamid-Typen durch geringe Wasseraufnahme sowie noch besseren Abriebswiderstand und chemische Beständigkeit auszeichnen. Dabei können dem PTMT auch mehrere verschiedene Polyamid-Typen zugegeben werden.
Der Anteil des Polyamid-Zusatzbestandteils kann so eingestellt werden, daß - in Abhängigkeit vom jeweils verwendeten Polyamid-Typ - ein möglichst optimales Eigenschaftsprofil für den jeweiligen Anwendungszweck erreicht wird. Der Anteil kann bis zu 50 % gehen. Die Verarbeitbarkeit und auch die Festigkeit des Monofilaments wird jedoch schon erheblich verbessert, wenn der Polyamid-Anteil 5 % beträgt. Ein besonders günstiges Eigenschaftsprofil ergibt sich bei Anteilen, die zwischen 10 und 35 % liegen.
Die erfindungsgemäße Mischung ist in dem Sinne homogen, als sie nicht auf lösungsähnliche Verteilungen beschränkt ist. Die Mischung kann auch aus einer gleichmäßigen Mischung der pulverförmigen Bestandteile oder auch von Pellets hergestellt sein.
Es versteht sich, daß auch weitere Zusatzbestandteile vorhanden sein können, beispielsweise ein Hydrolysestabilisator und/oder ein Antioxidanz, wobei die Anteile jeweils bis 5 % gehen können.
Das Monofilament gemäß der Erfindung kann beliebige Querschittsformen haben, beispielsweise rechteckig, kleeblattförmig, hundeknochenförmig, sternförmig, rund oder oval oder dergleichen ausgebildet sein. Auch die Ausbildung als Hohlmonofilament kommt in Frage. Die Querschnittsfläche des Monofilaments sollte vorzugsweise zwischen 0,02 und 3,5 qmm liegen, was bei einem runden Querschnitt einem Durchmesser von 0,08 bis 1 mm entspricht.
Sofern das erfindungsgemäße Monofilament zur Herstellung eines Trägers für eine Papiermaschinenbespannung verwendet wird, besteht zusätzlich die Möglichkeit, ein- oder beidseitig eine Faserschicht aufzubringen, deren Fasern wenigstens teilweise als Hauptbestandteil Polytrimethylenterephthalat aufweist. Als Zusatzbestandteil kommt auch hier Polyamid oder eine Mischung von mehreren Polyamiden in Frage. Zweckmäßigerweise entspricht die Zusammensetzung des Kunststoffmaterials für die Fasern derjenigen für die Monofilamente.
Grundsätzlich können solcher Art aufgebaute Papiermaschinenbespannungen in allen Teilen der Papiermaschine zur Anwendung kommen. Wenn sie als Filz ausgebildet sind, eignen sie sich insbesondere als Ober- oder Unterfilz in einer Schuhpresse. Dabei zeichnet sich die Papiermaschinenbespannung trotz des Polyamid-Anteils durch gute Temperaturbeständigkeit aus, so daß sie auch dort eingesetzt werden, wo die Arbeitstemperatur über 55° liegt.

Claims (14)

1. Monofilament für den Einsatz in technischen Textilien, insbesondere in Papiermaschinenbespannungen, aus einem Kunststoffmaterial mit einem Hauptbestandteil Polytrimethylenterephthalat (PTMT) und wenigstens einem Zusatzbestandteil, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Zusatzbestandteil ein Polyamid oder eine Mischung aus mehreren Polyamid-Typen ist.
2. Monofilament nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Zusatzbestandteil Polyamid 11 und/oder Polyamid 12 ist.
3. Monofilament nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Anteil des Zusatzbestandteils bis zu 45 Gew.% beträgt.
4. Monofilament nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Anteil des Zusatzbestandteils mindestens 5 % beträgt.
5. Monofilament nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Kunststoffmaterial einen Hydrolysestabilisator aufweist.
6. Monofilament nach Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Anteil des Hydrolysestabilisators bis zu 5 Gew.% beträgt.
7. Monofilament nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Kunststoffmaterial ein Antioxidanz enthält.
8. Monofilament nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Querschnittsfläche des Monofilaments 0,2 bis 3,5 qmm beträgt.
9. Monofilament nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es einen runden Querschnitt mit einem Durchmesser zwischen 0,08 und 1 mm aufweist.
10. Monofilament nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es einen quadratischen, rechteckigen, ovalartigen, kleeblattförmigen oder hundeknochenförmigen Querschnitt hat.
11. Papiermaschinenbespannung mit Monofilamenten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß wenigstens ein Teil der Monofilamente nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10 ausgebildet ist.
12. Papiermaschinenbespannungen nach Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Papiermaschinenbespannung ein- oder beidseitig eine Faserschicht aufweist, deren Fasern wenigstens teilweise als Hauptbestandteil Polytrimethylenterephthalat aufweisen.
14. Papiermaschinenbespannung nach Anspruch 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Fasern mit Polytrimethylenterephthalat als Hauptbestandteil als Zusatzbestandteil ein Polyamid oder eine Mischung von mehreren Polyamid-Typen aufweist.
15. Papiermaschinenbespannung nach Anspruch 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Kunststoffmaterial für die Monofilamente und die Fasern, die Polytrimethylenterephthalat als Hauptbestandteil enthalten, eine identische Zusammensetzung haben.
