Description

The invention relates to a vehicle headlight with a housing having a light exit opening, a light-transmitting cover covering the light exit opening and at least one light source arranged in the housing.

Vehicle headlights serve road safety. With their help, the roadway is illuminated in front of the vehicle in the dark or poor visibility. In addition, oncoming vehicles are already recognizable by their switched headlights at a great distance.

Due to the strong influence of the vehicle design on the image of a motor vehicle, vehicle headlights are also subject to greater influences on design today. Therefore, in the design and construction of headlamps for vehicles boundary conditions have to be considered, which played only a minor role in the development and construction of vehicle headlights a few years ago. Due to the free-form surface technology on modern vehicle headlamps, conventionally structured cover or diffuser lenses can be replaced by cover glass made of clear glass. However, this also implies the need to design the interior of the headlamp according to design criteria, which in turn lighting problems occur. The ever flatter outer skin of today's vehicles in the area of the headlights increases the reflected portion of the exiting luminous flux on the clear cover. The deflected light component is directed to often used high-gloss trim inside the headlight and thrown from there in ascending order over the vehicle. Under bad weather conditions this light causes a so-called self-glare of the driver.

From the German patent application DE 195 11 164 A1 For example, a vehicle headlamp is known in which an assembly-related gap on the reflector of the headlamp is bridged by means of an additional reflector. This arises during the Viewers the impression of a continuous reflector, which improves the visual appearance of the vehicle headlight.

It is also known to arrange cover frame at the transition from the housing of the headlamp to the cover to cover the gap formed there and thus also to improve the visual impression. In addition, an insert may be provided as in the German utility model DE 298 22 704 U1 disclosed.

From the DE 965 428 a headlamp is known in which the surface of the glass bulb of the light bulb and possibly also the lens is provided with a thin layer to Refexionsminderung.

From the US 3,631,288 is known a headlamp with a polarizer, which ensures that the light emitted by the headlight is linearly polarized.

The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a headlamp for motor vehicles, in which the self-glare causing light component is reduced.

The object is solved by the features of claims 1 and 9. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are shown in the subclaims.

According to a first inventive concept, the surface of the cover or lens which preferably faces the at least one luminous means and is preferably made of clear glass is coated with an antireflection coating, ie. provided with a reflection-reducing coating, whereby a very large percentage of the light emitted by the lamp or bulbs penetrates the cover.

In addition, as provided according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the outer surface of the cover can be provided with an anti-reflective coating. This further reduces the proportion of the light reflected back from the cover plate into the housing interior of the vehicle headlight.

According to one aspect of the invention, the surfaces within the housing, which are hit by the light rays reflected by the cover plate, are provided with an antireflection coating so that at least a large percentage of these light rays pass through the surface and are not reflected.

This measure can be provided both alone and together with the anti-reflection of the cover.

R = 5%, vorzugsweise R < 1 %, aufweisen.The anti-reflection, i. The reflection-reducing coating should be provided for a spectral range between λ = 425 to 650 nm, in particular λ = 500 to 625 nm, and a spectral reflectance of max. R = 5%, preferably R <1%.

According to a preferred embodiment, the anti-reflection coating consists of a reflection-reducing multiple coating. Such multiple coatings are well known for other applications.

Furthermore, means are provided behind the surface on which the light rays reflected by the cover glass impinge and which have an anti-reflection, which absorb at least a large portion of the light rays penetrating the surface.

Furthermore, the cover plate may have means which reflect the light reflected from the reflective surface (s) of the housing interior, i. the light, which impinges in a defined angle or a defined part of the cover, reflect or polarize in the interior of the housing.

Another basic idea of the invention is to provide the surfaces to which the light reflected from the cover glass has to be provided with means which absorb the incident light and / or the incident light directed onto the cover plate and / or into the interior of the housing reflect or polarize. This solution can be used in combination with measures for the cover.

These means consist of an arrangement of structural elements, in particular prisms.

The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments. The accompanying drawings show:

The in Fig. 1 shown headlight of a motor vehicle consists of a housing 1, the light exit opening 2 is closed by a translucent, curved cover 3 made of clear glass. Within the housing 1, a reflector 4 is arranged, which reflects the light beams 6 emitted by the light source 5 directed to the cover 3. A large part 6a of the light rays penetrates to the outside. However, a lesser part 6b of the light beams is reflected back on the cover plate 3 and, due to the curvature of the cover plate 3, strikes reflective surfaces 7 within the housing 1. These surfaces 7 can be formed, for example, on design-provided mirrored panels 8, which in turn, as in FIG Fig. 1 represented as a single component or as an extending part of the reflector 4 are arranged. At these surfaces 7, the incident light beams 6b are reflected again. Due to the arrangement of the surfaces 7, the light beams 6c reflected from the surfaces 7 rise substantially vertically upward and penetrate the cover 3. Under bad weather conditions, this light causes the driver's self-glare.

In order to reduce the amount of light causing the glare, but not or not to change the outer skin and the appearance of the headlamp, different variants are provided.

So is in the in Fig. 2 Vehicle headlamp shown the at least one lamp 5 facing surface 3a of the translucent cover 3 provided with an anti-reflective coating. Antireflective coatings, which are produced by a reflection-reducing coating, are available for other applications and for a wide variety of translucent materials. Thus, the well-adhering and abrasion-resistant multiple coating on glass known under the brand name IRALIN gives a very good reflection reduction over a broad spectral range of λ = 440 to 650 nm on a low-refraction glass. A multiple coating for organic substrates made of polycarbonate or acrylic, available under the name GEDOLIN 85, achieves a similar reduction in reflection. Since also the outer surface 3b of the cover 3 reflects light rays back, which can then hit the reflective surface 7 of the diaphragm 8 is after Fig. 3 intended, In addition, the outer surface 3b of the cover 3 to be provided with an anti-reflective coating.

Alternatively, but also together with the measures, as in the Figures 2 and 3 are shown in Fig. 4 the reflective surface 7 of the trim panel 8, but at least the part of the surface 7, on which the light beams 6b reflected by the cover disk 3 impinge, is provided with a reflection-reducing coating. Preferably, means 8 for absorbing these light beams are then provided behind the diaphragm 8 for the light beams penetrating the diaphragm 8.

Another possibility, not shown, is to provide on the surface 7 of the diaphragm 8 itself means 9 which absorb the incident light rays or reflect them in a desired direction, for example by means of a polarizing coating.
