Abstract

The manifold has an outer shell (2) extending along the row of outlet openings of the cylinders, and an inner shell to form an insulating air gap between the two shells. A common outlet opening (10') is formed on a centre section of the manifold and for each of the four or more cylinders there is an inlet flange (2 to 8) located on the exhaust inlet side whereby the flanges of the two middle cylinders are connected together through a web. The web has a through bore between the flanges so that it can be heated up by the hot exhaust gases.
