Description

  • The invention relates to a window with covering fins of adjustable type, which are assembled in the frame of the relative window and can be oriented from a complete opened position to a complete closed position thereof, and vice versa, respectively to permit and prevent to see through the window. Windows having various shaped and sizes provided with a peripheral frame made of wood, metal, plastic or other solid materials are known, which frame is adapted to be assembled on the relative openings of the inhabited building walls and provided with a set of fins made of wood, plastic or similar materials, which are identical to each other and assembled on to the frame in positions suitably spaced away in the vertical direction, said fins being oriented inclined in a fixed manner and such as to hide partially the view through the window and to act also as sun protecting elements. However, this type of windows has the drawback on the one hand do not prevent the view through the window of the persons situated outside the inhabited ambient, therefore do not shielding effectively against sometimes undesirable looks, and on the other hand do not guarantee an adequate protection against any possible intrusion inside the inhabited ambient, in that such fins may be broken by ill-disposed persons in a relatively simple manner with burgle equipment, thereby making accessible the inhabited ambient through the window.
  • The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above mentioned drawback of the current windows, by means of a window provided with covering fins of adjustable type, which can be displaced in such a way that to allow or prevent the view through the window, and to prevent with safety any intrusion through the same window.
  • This object is attained, according to the invention, by means of a window with covering fins of adjustable type made with the constructive characteristics substantially described, with particular reference to the enclosed claims of the present patent.
  • The invention will be understood better from the following description, given solely by way of non limitative example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein :

    • Fig. 3 shows an enlarged side view of a fin according to the invention, displaced in the opened position and provided with a driving mechanism for orienting it into different positions ;
    • Fig. 4 shows a cutaway and enlarged side view of a fin according to the invention, co-operating with an additional fin, visible partially, said fins being provided with the relative driving mechanism and displaced contemporaneously in the closed position thereof ;
    • Fig. 5 shows an enlarged side view of the abutting zone of the fins of Fig. 4 ;
    • Fig. 6 shows a cutaway side view of a window with covering fins of adjustable type, on a second constructive embodiment and displaced contemporaneously in the opened position thereof ;
    • Fig. 7 shows a cutaway side view of the window of Fig. 6, with the fins displaced contemporaneously in the closed position thereof ;
    • Fig. 8 shows an enlarged side view of a fin of Figs. 6 and 7, displaced in the opened position thereof and provided with a driving mechanism for orienting it into different positions ;
    • Fig. 9 shows a cutaway and enlarged side view of the fin of Figs. 6-8, co-operating with an additional fin, visible partially, said fins being provided with the relative driving mechanism and displaced contemporaneously in the closed position thereof.
  • The Figures referred to illustrate a window with covering fins of adjustable type according to the present invention. Such window is constituted substantially by at least a peripheral frame 10 of quadrangular shape or other suitable shape, made with rod irons of metallic material such for example the iron, and adapted to be assembled and secured with a vertical side stanchion 11 thereof in an articulated manner with a side edge of the relative opening of the inhabited building walls (not shown), so as to be able to rotate about its own vertical hinging axis.
  • In such case, the other vertical stanchion of the peripheral frame (not shown) may be hooked and unhooked adequately with respect to the other side edge of the same opening.
  • Likewise, the window may be constituted also by an additional peripheral frame, identical to the previous one, and assembled and secured in a hinged manner with the other side edge of the wall opening, in a position aligned with respect to the previous frame, in order to be able to rotate around its own vertical hinging axis. Also in this case, such additional frame may be approached and hooked with respect to the previous frame, in the closed position of both the frames, and may be unhooked and moved away with respect to the previous frame, in the opened position of both the frames. Each peripheral frame 10 is joined suitably, for example by means of welding, with a set of horizontal bars 12 made of rod irons of metallic material, for example iron, which are arranged parallel to and adequately spaced away from each other in the vertical direction, and the free end portions of which are fixed to the corresponding vertical stanchions 11 of the relative peripheral frame. The aim of the bars 12 is to support a set of adjustable fins 13, which are shaped and displaceable in different orienting positions in the manners and for the purposes which will be described hereinafter. Therefore, thanks to the reticulated and fixed structure of each peripheral frame with the relative bars, with this arrangement it is obtained a "window grate" which, in the closed position of each frame, realizes an effective protection against any intrusion attempt through the window. Each "window grate" formed by the peripheral frame and the relative horizontal bars, is covered with wood or other solid material, for example plastic, which hides it and makes it not more visible from the outside, by conferring to it an aesthetical appearance typical of the window shutters. By referring now to the Figs. 1-5, in which a first constructive version of the adjustable fins 13 is illustrated, which are made preferably of wood or plastic, it is noted that each one of them is shaped in the form of a spindle 14, delimited by two external convex surfaces 15 and 16 opposite to each other, the side end portions 17 and 18 of which are shaped with a flat form joined to the above convex surfaces, said fins being extended in a longitudinal direction for the entire width of each peripheral frame 10 and being provided with a longitudinal central through hole 19 for the entire length thereof, for the passage of a corresponding horizontal bar 12 of the same frame.
  • In particular, the diameter of the through hole 19 is slightly larger than that of the bar 12, in a manner that each fin 13 may be assembled on to the relative bar 12 for the entire length thereof, by introducing such bar through the through hole 19 of the same fin, thereby permitting the fin to rotate around the bar and to be displaced into different orienting positions.
  • In order to provide for rotating the fins around the relative bar 12, a suitable driving mechanism is provided, which in the example represented in the Figures is constituted by a leverage arrangement formed by a rectilinear rod 20, arranged on the window inner side and pivoted on all the fins, as particularly visible from the Fig. 3, such rod being able to be driven manually or automatically, by per se known means, in a manner to displace contemporaneously all the fins from an opened position, visible in the Fig. 1, in which such fins are arranged parallel to and moved away from each other, thereby allowing to see through the same fins, to a closed position visible in the Fig. 2, in which all the fins are arranged into positions which are reciprocally overlapped and approached, thereby preventing to see through them, and allowing as well to displace the fins also into different adjustment positions, comprised between the opened and closed positions, so as to change the field of vision through the fins. In particular, in the position in which two consecutive fins are reciprocally overlapped, which is illustrated in detail in the Figs. 4 and 5, it is noted that in the abutting zone thereof they are overlapped with their opposite and convex surfaces 15 and 16, while the fin situated near the crosspiece 21 of the frame 10 is overlapped to and comes into abutment with its convex surface 16 with a stop element 22 secured to such crosspiece 21. According to the invention, it is also possible to realize the fin driving mechanism in a manner different than that indicated by way of example only, in order to attain always the same purpose.
  • Moreover, the fins may be shaped also with forms which are different than that indicated in the Figures by way of example only, in order to perform always the same window closed and opened functions, thus without departing from the protection sphere of the present invention.
  • In this way, the presence of the above described adjustable fins combined with the supporting bars 12 secured to the frame 10 and the wall, allows to obtain an effective window shielding system performing also the function of anti-intrusion and anti - house-breaking device, which prevents with safety any attempt to penetrate in the interior of the inhabited building, thanks to the presence of the metallic rod irons which are unlikely to be destroyed, even after any possible breakage of the fins made of wood or plastic. The remaining Figures 6-9 show a second constructive version of the adjustable fins according to the invention, in which it is noted that in this case they aren't pivoted directly on to the bars 12, like in the previous case, rather are pivoted on to relative studs 23 secured to the frame 10 into positions external to the same bars and can be driven always, by a rod leverage arrangement 24, contemporaneously from the one to the other one of the opened position (see Fig. 6) and closed position (see Fig. 7), by passing through different intermediate positions. Furthermore, in this case the fins 13 are shaped with a form different than that of the preceding fins, which in the illustrated example is constituted by two flat surfaces 25 and 26, inclined to each other in a manner to define respectively an enlarged side portion 27 and a restricted side portion 28, of which the enlarged portion 27 is pivoted on the frame 10 and shaped at its end portion with a convex curved surface 29 and a concave curved surface 30, and the restricted portion 28 is shaped at its end portion with a flat surface 31, joined to the flat surfaces 25 and 26.
  • In this way, when the fins are displaced into the closed position thereof (see Figs. 7 and 9), the concave surface 30 of a fin overlaps itself with the restricted portion 28 of the respectively adjacent fin, while the convex surface 29 of the enlarged portion 27 of all the fins comes into abutment with a correspondent bar 12 of the frame 10. Obviously, also in this case the shape of the fins and the driving mechanism of the fins may be different than those described above, thus without departing from the protection sphere of the present invention.
