Background

Methods based on retinal persistence to allow movement to be restored are known from the prior art. For example, the phenakistiscope is known, which uses a cardboard disc, pierced with slots, on which a movement is decomposed into a series of still images, and a handle allowing it to be held during its rotation. We also know the zootrope which consists of a drum pierced with slits on its upper half and sheltering inside, in its lower part, a band of drawings decomposing a movement. When one rotates the drum and stares intently through the slots, the drawings become animated. We still know the praxinoscope, whose operation is based on the principle of zoetrope, which has several mirrors around its central axis to visualize the illusion of movement.

In addition, processes for creating motion illusions described in the documents are known. US 5,901,484 , US 6,286,873 and US 2005/0183300 . These methods, in particular that described in US 5,901,484 , exploit the principle of decomposition of the movement allowing the restitution of a movement "to frames". A support carries a plurality of fragmented images, corresponding for example to the decomposition of an object or a moving animal, and a transparent film carrying a network of parallel lines having a thickness and a spacing between the given lines is placed on the support. A relative movement between fragmented images and the network of parallel lines creates the illusion of movement.

It is also known to superpose, by folding a document, two elements. Requirement WO 2006/029744 A1 describes in particular the superposition, by folding of a document, of two optical elements for obtaining different optical effects depending on the distance separating said optical elements. Requirement US 2003/0137145 describes superimposing a security element and an authentication element by folding a document, the security element and the authentication element being Moire patterns. Moreover, the demand WO 02/17242 A1 describes the superposition, by folding a document, of a hologram and hidden information to reveal said hidden information. In order to guard against counterfeits or falsifications of security documents and to increase the level of security of these documents, it is known to incorporate various security elements for the authentication of documents.

There is a need to further strengthen the security and authentication processes of security documents, in particular to increase the difficulty of counterfeiting of these documents.

The invention thus proposes, in particular, to exploit the principle of the decomposition in motion set out above in order to be able to authenticate the security documents by visualizing, for example, decomposed movements, thereby causing an illusion of movement.

The invention thus has, according to one of its aspects, a security document according to claim 1.

By "associated", it should be understood that the means of revelation is advantageously adapted to allow viewing the different nested images of the combined image.

The similar document may for example be similar in its function and / or in its form to the document according to the invention. For example, both documents may be bank notes, for example with the same fiduciary value. The two documents can be differentiated from each other only by a serial number for example.

Thanks to the invention, it is thus possible to benefit from a security document presenting a new document authentication structure consisting of the reproduction of nested images, causing for example the illusion of a movement, by superposition and relative displacement of a combined image and a revelation means, in particular a revelation screen or a lenticular network, and / or a change of angle observational means of the revelation means, in particular a lenticular array, and the superimposed combined image.

The relative displacement of the combined image and the revelation means can make it possible to successively observe the nested images, in particular by animating the revelation means with a relative movement in a plane parallel to the plane containing the combined image.

The combined image may advantageously be obtained by the superposition of the nested images each representing a movement of the pattern.

The nested images may represent information hidden and revealed successively by relative displacement, in particular by translation, of the revelation means on the combined image and / or change of the observation angle of the revelation means superimposed on the combined image .

Preferably, the combined image must retain a recognizable aesthetic, in particular so as to constitute a first authentication element.

According to one variant of the invention, two combined images of different dimensions are associated. According to a variant of the invention, the combined image and / or the revelation frame is a watermark or pseudo-watermark. The successive observation of the nested images is preferably done in transmitted light.

Watermarks are produced by techniques well known in the paper industry. On the contrary, the back (1b) of copper of the combined image (2) and the front (1a) of copper of the revelation screen (3) are observed according to (9 ').

On the figure 14 is schematically represented a combined image 22 arranged in a combined image array 22 around a revealing frame 31.

On the figure 15 is schematically represented a combined image 21 surrounded by a revelation frame 32.

The patterns represented on the Figures 14 and 15 may be placed respectively on a document and on the same document, a similar document or another object, and vice versa.

According to one variant, the combined image array 22 constitutes two bands between which the revealing frame 31 is arranged in a strip. The combined image 21 is then repeated along a strip placed centrally between two strips constituting the frame of revelation 32. This variant and the repetition of the combined images and / or revelation frame according to a band makes it possible in particular to facilitate the registration by removing an orientation. Thus, for example when introducing a security thread in a sheet of paper in formation, cross-referencing will not be necessary and only a marking in the direction will be necessary.

Claims (14)

1. A security document (1) including a revealer raster (3) associated with a combined image (2) present on the document (1) or assembly comprising a security document (1) and another article, the security document (1) comprising a revealing raster(3) associated with a combined image (2) on the other article, at least one of the combined image (2) and the revealer raster (3) appearing in a zone of the document (1) that is at least partially transparent, it being possible to superpose the revealer raster (3) and the combined image (2) by folding the document (1) and/or by superposing the document (1) on the other article,
   characterized in that the combined image (2) comprises at least two interleaved images (2a), the revealer raster (3), when superposed at least in part on the combined image (2) of the same document (1) or of another article, serving to observe the interleaved images (2) in succession by relative movement between the revealer raster (3) and the combined image (2).
2. A security document according to the preceding claim, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) appearing in a window (4) of the security document (1), the window (4) being at least partially transparent.
3. A security document according to any preceding claim, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) being applied to the security document (1) by a printing method, in particular offset, copper plate, laser, photogravure, typography, or silk-raster printing, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) being printed with inks that are optionally colored, visible to the naked eye under ultraviolet (UV) and/or infrared (IR) light, opaque, fluorescent, translucent, and/or transparent.
4. A security document according to any one of claims 1 to 8, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) comprising metal coating and/or metal stripping.
5. A security document according to any one of claims 1 to 8, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) being printed with liquid crystals and being carried on a zone of the document (1) that polarizes light such that the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) are visible only when the document (1) is folded in half.
6. A security document according to any preceding claim, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) being carried by a patch (5) and/or a foil (7) appearing on the security document (1).
7. A security document according to any preceding claim, the combined image (2) and/or the revealer raster (3) being carried by a security strip (6, 6a, 6b) incorporated on the surface of, embedded in, or located in one or more windows in the document (1).
8. A security document according to the preceding claim, the security strip (6, 6a, 6b) presenting alternating combined images (2) and revealer rasters (3).
9. A security document according to claim 14 or claim 15, including two security strips (6a, 6b), one of them (6a) carrying at least one combined image (2) and the other (6b) carrying at least one revealer raster (3).
10. A security document according to any preceding claim, the combined image (2) being carried by a window (4) of the document (1) and the revealer raster (3) being printing, metal coating, and/or metal stripping carried elsewhere on the document (1), or vice versa.
11. A security document according to any one of claims 1 to 17, the combined image (2) being carried by a window (4) of the document (1), and the revealer raster (3) appearing on a patch (5) or a foil (7) of the document (1) or the combined image (2) being carried by a window (4) of the document (1) and the revealer raster (3) appearing on a security strip (6, 6a, 6b) of the document (1).
12. A security document according to any preceding claim, the combined image (2) being made by laser etching a waveguide film.
13. A security document according to any preceding claim, the revealer raster (3) comprising a waveguide film and a revealer raster made by laser etching.
14. A method of authenticating a security document (1) according to any preceding claim, wherein the revealer raster (3) is superposed at least in part on the combined image (2) in order to enable the interleaved images (2a) to be observed in succession by relative movement between the revealer raster (3) and the combined image (2), and a conclusion is drawn about the authenticity of the document (1), it being possible to superpose the revealer raster (3) and the combined image (2) by folding the document (1) and/or by superposing the document (1) on another article, the method wherein the document (1) is folded to superpose the revealer raster (3) and the combined image (2), at least in part or wherein the document (1) is superposed on the other article.

Images
