Definitions
- the invention relates to an input / output module, comprising a connection element with a plurality of connection points for connecting input or output lines, a housing which receives the connection element such that the connection points are accessible and visible, display elements, wherein the display elements a plurality of status displays, each with a having a status indicator associated optical fiber.
- automation systems preferably comprise different components such as a power supply unit, a programmable logic controller, one or more communication modules and input / output modules for connection of connection lines, which lead into the industrial process to be controlled.
- channel state indicators which are realized for example via a combination of LED and optical fiber on a module front of these modules. Due to the required space of the connecting cables, the connection points for the input or output cables are implemented deeper in the module. This means that an optical indication for a channel state of a special connection line is located in the module front, with the actual connection point for the wiring of the line leading into the process being located in a lower plane relative to a higher level of the module front. In a fault or diagnostic case, therefore, there is a local difference between the optical display point and the mechanical wiring point.
- the object is achieved in that in the input / output module with the feature combination of the preamble of claim 1 has a light guide having a first luminous area and a second luminous area, wherein the first luminous area in a front side of a side wall of the housing and the second luminous area in a Side member of the side wall facing the connecting element is arranged at the level of a connection point, whereby an optical display is formed in the immediate vicinity of the connection point and a diagnosis is facilitated. If a diagnosis is required for such an configured input / output module during operation of the module, an assembler or commissioning engineer can approach the module and already obtain information on the status of the module by means of the status indicators in the case of a rough plan view of the module.
- the first luminous area is arranged in a front side of a side wall of the housing, wherein the end face is part of the module front, the state of this module is evidently signaled. But if this diagnosis now goes a step further, for example, it has to be proven whether a particular input or output line really carries a certain signal at a certain time, the commissioning engineer or fitter must look more closely into the assembly, which means, for example a certain color combination of a connecting line then checks whether, according to the wiring diagram, it really lies at the connection point intended for it. This checking is made easier for the commissioning engineer or fitter by arranging the second luminous area of the light guide at the level of the connection point and thereby directly illuminating the affected connection point.
- the light guide is designed as one piece is and the surface is provided in the region of the second luminous surface with an optical calculation point. This type of configuration ensures that not only a display illuminates by means of the light guide over the first luminous surface on the module front, but also sufficient signal-emitting light is generated directly to the wiring of the connection point.
- the light guide has a recess which is designed as a light feed and in which the light source is fitted.
- the light feed point is arranged substantially opposite to the second luminous area in order to improve the visual display in the immediate vicinity of the connection point.
- an SMD LED is arranged as the electronic light source on the carrier.
- the housing has a first side wall and a second side wall, wherein the connection element between the two side walls is arranged and a first row and a second Row of terminals, wherein the first row parallel to the first side wall and the second row parallel to the second side wall extends longitudinally.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an input / output module, comprising a connection element with a plurality of connection points for connecting input or output lines, a housing which receives the connection element such that the connection points are accessible and visible, display elements, wherein the display elements a plurality of status displays, each with a having a status indicator associated optical fiber.
In industrial process automation increasingly modular automation systems are used. These automation systems preferably comprise different components such as a power supply unit, a programmable logic controller, one or more communication modules and input / output modules for connection of connection lines, which lead into the industrial process to be controlled.
In the input / output modules, there are channel state indicators, which are realized for example via a combination of LED and optical fiber on a module front of these modules.
It is therefore the object of the invention in input / output modules with connection points to make a visual display such that a diagnosis is facilitated.
The object is achieved in that in the input / output module with the feature combination of the preamble of claim 1 has a light guide having a first luminous area and a second luminous area, wherein the first luminous area in a front side of a side wall of the housing and the second luminous area in a Side member of the side wall facing the connecting element is arranged at the level of a connection point, whereby an optical display is formed in the immediate vicinity of the connection point and a diagnosis is facilitated. If a diagnosis is required for such an configured input / output module during operation of the module, an assembler or commissioning engineer can approach the module and already obtain information on the status of the module by means of the status indicators in the case of a rough plan view of the module. Since the first luminous area is arranged in a front side of a side wall of the housing, wherein the end face is part of the module front, the state of this module is evidently signaled.
In a further embodiment of the input / output module, it is advantageous if the light guide is designed as one piece is and the surface is provided in the region of the second luminous surface with an optical calculation point. This type of configuration ensures that not only a display illuminates by means of the light guide over the first luminous surface on the module front, but also sufficient signal-emitting light is generated directly to the wiring of the connection point.
Due to limited space in input / output modules, it has proven to be advantageous to arrange a support for an electronic light source, in particular an LED, in the side wall. For particularly narrow-walled side walls, it is advantageous to design the carrier as a film with conductor tracks.
In order to improve a light on the connection point, ie on the wiring point, it is advantageous if the light guide has a recess which is designed as a light feed and in which the light source is fitted. In this case, particularly good diagnostic results are achieved when the light feed point is arranged substantially opposite to the second luminous area in order to improve the visual display in the immediate vicinity of the connection point.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if an SMD LED is arranged as the electronic light source on the carrier.
To supply an input / output module with as many input or output lines, this is advantageously designed such that the housing has a first side wall and a second side wall, wherein the connection element between the two side walls is arranged and a first row and a second Row of terminals, wherein the first row parallel to the first side wall and the second row parallel to the second side wall extends longitudinally.

In the three-dimensional plan view of the input / output module 1, the
The connecting element 2 has on its upper side the
The relative to the overall width of the module relatively
